Starfish (2018)
Artistic Stranger Things
Pretty visuals and fun soundtrack, but don't expect any cohesion. They don't explain anything really, and there's no clear context. It's more about the spiritual ride of the main character than anything else.
There were (for me) some rather disturbing/mind boggling things and I would say they almost fiddle with horror, which I appreciate. But most importantly I just miss a story to follow so I can relate to what's going on. It was all very superficial. I wanted to know more about everything.
Props to the very nice photography, though. I guess I think they should've explored more of the story rather than just the one dimensional grief of the main character.
Fortune Cookie (2016)
Why was the freezer made out of wood?
This movie made no sense. Actually, between the terrible acting and the fact it had no continuity, I don't even understand how this can be considered a movie. I mean, the amateurism. The scene transitions were straight out of PowerPoint. And I'm not even gonna start on the grotesque CGI.
By the way, who leaves raw chicken on the counter and just goes out? Talk about salmonella. And why was the fryer randomly on? Also, it's not like you just up and die from getting your face fried.
