Sisters (2015)
Wait a minute...WHAT?
Wait wait wait...what was that ending?
At the end of the party, the entire swimming pool sinks into a giant sinkhole. Then, in what can only be a few days later (if that), Amy's character is swimming in the backyard pool as though nothing happened? So they fixed the sinkhole AND replaced the swimming pool AND had it ready for swimming, all before Tina's character had a chance to wipe "I Love Balls" off the fridge??!?
The Office: Garden Party (2011)
Great episode, too bad Stephen Collins ruins it by being in it
You really can't "un-know" the fact that Stephen Collins is a child rapist, so yeah, that ruins everything he's in.
His character is supposed to be despicable, but not like "child rapist" despicable.
Ugh.
All in all, there are a lot of cringe-worthy moments in this one, especially between Andy and his parents, as well as his desperation to gain Robert California's approval.
Still, the Shrute hijinks provided a surprise delight to an otherwise mediocre season.
Except Stephen Collins. Forget that guy. He's awful.
The Kettering Incident (2016)
I'm utterly hooked!
I'm glad I didn't read the other reviews before I started watching The Kettering Incident because I'm absolutely hooked! I just stumbled upon it and I'm so glad I did. I personally find it to be an intriguing balance between what is revealed and what is held back in each episode. What some reviewers find "slow paced" I just find to be good mystery and tension.
This certainly isn't the only crime show from Down Under I've enjoyed. I was a big fan of "No Activity" (which was a comedy, so quite different from this) and "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" is one of my favourite shows. But as a Canadian, I really have to rely on the internet to access Australian shows, and I don't always hear about them. I'm glad I came across this gem!
The tone and pace reminds me a little bit "Wallander" (I've only seen the British version with Kenneth Branagh), but perhaps with a supernatural twist? I haven't finished the series yet, so I'm not really sure what the "answer" is. Can't wait to find out though!
My Little Eye (2002)
Kicks Blair Witch's ASS!!
I saw My Little Eye at the Atlantic Film Festival and I was blown away. It was amazing! It started off a little slow at first, I thought maybe we needed a little bit more character and scene foundation, but then it just kept building and building. By the end, you may not be shocked by what's happening, but it sure as hell isn't what you expected in the beginning of the movie. Truly chilling entertainment!
