Seriously people need to stop. All these reviews telling everyone how bad this show is, and how it's unrealist. It's a tv show for goodness sake, what did you think it was going to be? Beyond that, did you know it was a book first?
I don't understand this narrative that Hannah isn't likable or relatable. Obviously there was so much she missed, but don't we all? Don't we all miss the little things, the things that make us see the situation from the other side? I think people forget hindsight is 20/20. Looking back, sure she could have done a lot different, seen that people cared and she ran them off. When your living in it, you miss it all.
Ok so I got that out of the way. This show while is very dangerous for people with doubts to watch, it does make you think. I could relate to Clay. He was a believable shy guy that never knew what to say to Hannah. I was that same kid. They did a good job of making you believe that. One of my favorite scenes was at the dance. He was pushed to finally ask her to dance, and they just went crazy for a few minutes. It was great! It makes you feel actual joy for them. Only if it's for a second.
I say all of this to say that season 2 missed. I think the writers completely changed the story, and missed. The Hannah Baker they made for season 2 wasn't the Hannah Baker from season 1. Since the book never went beyond season 1, the writers decided to make their own story. They missed in an effort to make drama and I think it was a terrible decision. They kind of brought it back together at the end, but just added a bit too much. Hopefully season 3 will redeem it, but I doubt it. Season 1 was all that was needed.
