Fun

Oswaldo is a lovely Brazilian Cartoon Network series with great artwork and a sense of humor that also works with an older audience. Some of the critics here are just cranky.

This is the feel-good kind of show we need these days. Igor Guimarães is hilarious!! Amazon is doing a good job with the Brazilian original productions.

  • Arcanjo Renegado (Globoplay)
  • Impuros (FOX/Star+)

Hope to see more

A good production with a dynamic format that fits very well for a science and educational television series. Some dialogues at the lab segments are a little silly, but not a problem considering it intends to be a show for all ages.

Give it a go!

Not your regular teen TV series. I'm glad Netflix greenlighted this show. Loved the artistic visuals, soundtrack and performances. The little town and the countryside landscapes were a great background. The "bovine" arch was also an interesting parallel for the story, considering that Brazil is one of the largest producer of beef and there's this whole "farm lifestyle" at some states like Goias (where the series was shot).

Good production with a mix of dark comedy and social drama. Half of it is a remake but the other half brings a new perspective for the series.

Entertaining dystopian sci-fi series. I think six episodes is a good number for these kind of shows, although I hope there's a second season on the way.

Great

Another great series from O2 Filmes (the same producer company behind the classic film "City of God") focused on social issues in Brazil with a high production value and an entertaining thriller plot.

Wow
4 September 2019
Bacurau embraces so many strong topics: the endemic violence in Brazil, the gun culture and god complex of the US, social gap, political corruption, historical resistance of Nordeste (Brazil's Northeast region) and the "complexo de vira-lata" (inferiority complex) of the people by their own country. These are all packed in a mystery/thriller/western entertaining film set in the Sertão. It's already a classic and an important addition to Brazilian contemporary cinema.

A fresh perspective of life in a Brazilian favela. It's interesting to see the cultural, religious and drugs underworld all connected.

Pantanal mystery series
30 June 2019
It's easy to simply point some of the series mistakes but I think it's important to analyse the production context. Brazil is famous for its soap operas which has been producing in the country for decades. For most actors and producers, being part of these novelas (specially the ones from Rede Globo) represented a turning point for their career. The thing is although the country is famous for making good soap operas, it's a format with certain artistic limitations. Nowadays premium cable companies like HBO and streaming services like Netflix are investing in new series formats in the country and bringing the opportunity to Brazilian creatives to explore some new genres that are not common in the country's filmography. The Chosen One as a mystery fantasy thriller series is an addition to this new phase. Some of the acting still bring a novela feeling but it's nice to see a fiction production set outside the Rio-São Paulo axis. There's certainly other points to improve in the series overall which would be interesting to see in a second season.

Beyond street food
30 June 2019
It's an amazing docuseries that shows not just a selection of famous street food from Asian countries but also the social and historical context behind theses dishes. I hope to see more seasons. Latin America would be a great option for the next one.

Lovely!
28 June 2019
Turma da Mônica (Monica's Gang) has been part of Brazilian pop culture for decades and the comics are some of the first childhood reading memories for a lot of people (including myself). This lovely family live-action film adaption is like a tribute to the works of Maurício de Souza and a must see for fans from all generations. Daniel Rezende was a great choice for the direction and his filmography it's becoming one of the most exciting additions to contemporary Brazilian cinema.

Great

Haters gonna hate. Some people that are rating with the lowest score (I bet most of them didn't even watched the film) just make the point for the foreign audience of how polarized Brazil it is right now. Petra did a great job by condensed the political situation of the country from the last decade with her personal and also analytical view.

Great news comedy format
18 June 2019
I love when Netflix greenlights shows with different formats and this was one of the best additions to their catalog. Hasan hosts a show that is both entertained and informational about current global topics. Even episodes about subjects that I know nothing about like cricket manage to get interesting.

Funny and relatable anime
18 June 2019
It's amazing how an anime with cute looking characters managed to be so relatable with working and personal life in today's society. Kudos to the Brazilian dubbing that did a great job with the voice actors and jokes/dialogues adaptions to Portuguese.

Lovely and hilarious comedy
16 June 2019
This series was a great surprise. The acting is very natural from the whole cast. Tatá and Eduardo were the perfect choice for a hilarious akward couple. Loved the soundtrack with contemporary Brazilian music ranging from MPB to alternative rock and even tecnobrega.
