Animal (2023)
In the world of sheep, only the wolf will get it!
We live in a peaceful progressive world today. But dont mistake it for being a status quo. We never know when the collapse of society will begin again. Its hilarious how people belittle toxic masculinity and act as if it will disappear. Its just a trait among the Alpha Male genes. The strongest genes in a family. Alphas are not taught, they are born that way. In the time of chaos they are the ones who will protect humanity! Its understandable that their methods will not be liked by the masses. There is no good or bad, there is only strong and weak! This movie is a glimpse of a male fantasy. Its quite an interesting and artistic depiction. The Alpha trying to protect his family from outside threats. Undeterring love for the father! Even the moments in the movie that dont make sense were deliberately created that way. The movie is faithful to the source material thus not appealing to everyone. Remember, Girly tough aint enough!
Saw X (2023)
Is this the worst movie in the franchise?
Saw series dont hold any high standards in film making. But this movie is practically flawed in plot. The movie starts of well but soon loses complete logic. The traps were limited and dont even feel that innovative. The stupid things happening in this movie are literally unbelievable. For instance the child conveniently turns up playing football in the middle of the night in that location! Jigsaw's partner having sudden empathy for a victim she was ready to butcher a minute ago? There is just too many coincidences for Jigsaws plan to work here. It was a torture to watch this movie. This franchise is dead and rotten.
65 (2023)
Pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this movie!
I am a sucker for SCI FI movies. This movie maynot be in the likes of Prey, but its quite entertaining. It brings a fresh perspective of what it would feel like to be at the moment when asteroids obliterated all dinosaurs and possibly all life from Earth, 65 Million Years Ago! The famous Extinction Level Event we all know about. I was quite impressed with the subtle flora and fauna changes that can be noticed in the movie. Well there were certainly some weird moments in the movie, I rate a high 8 out of 10 simply because I cant believe how much people are hating this movie. Recommending it for a casual entertaining watch.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities: The Murmuring (2022)
A hidden gem in a collection of gorefest movies
I give this short story a 10 out 10 because of its deep emotional content. Never anticipated such a mature storytelling which doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares or gore effects. Without giving much away all I can say is that the story was spiritually uplifting. The quaint location and the beautiful patterns formed by birds were a delight to watch. Strong performance by the leads help the audience stay invested in the moments.
Starlings are small to medium-sized passerine birds in the family Sturnidae. The Sturnidae are named for the genus Sturnus, which in turn comes from the Latin word for starling, sturnus. Many Asian species, particularly the larger ones, are called mynas, and many African species are known as glossy starlings because of their iridescent plumage. Starlings are native to Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as northern Australia and the islands of the tropical Pacific. Several European and Asian species have been introduced to these areas, as well as North America, Hawaii, and New Zealand, where they generally compete for habitats with native birds and are considered to be invasive species. The starling species familiar to most people in Europe and North America is the common starling, and throughout much of Asia and the Pacific, the common myna is indeed common.
Black Adam (2022)
Tell them Men In Black sent you
Upon its release most people were mislead by the awful critic ratings. Its clear that critics dont understand superhero movies. No wonder they give high ratings to Shan Chi, an awful superhero movie.
Yes Black Adam is no Oscar contender but it is a comic book superhero movie and a pretty entertaining one. The plot is simple, there are scenes that are convoluted, but its got pretty good action and great The Rock moments for the fans. Not sure if the movie would benefit from R Rating, but the movie perfectly depicts the dark side of the Anti Hero. Overall the movie is one of the better ones in the struggling DC cinematic universe. And definitely dont miss the post credit scene.
Monster (2022)
Disturbing, nerve-racking show with a Powerhouse performance by Peters
This is the show that should be watched by everyone. Once again Rotten Tomatoes gets everything wrong with their reviews. I dont know what kind of crack the critics smoke there. The show is too complex to put in simple words. The important thing is it covers various aspects of the society then and even now in utmost details. Its not just a show about a serial killer. Its also
about the victims, the parents the police, the city, the society. Its such a rich and detailed show its unbelievable that someone could put it up. Primarily directed by David Lynch's daughter, she has done a brilliant work.
Werewolf by Night (2022)
An insult to Golden Age Cinema
This is the most desperate attempt from MCU to counter the words of Martin Scorsese. Just stick to your theme park movies. Another wannabe unimpressive movie from Marvel. After EndGame everything is going downhill. Werewolf by Night is an American television special directed and scored by Michael Giacchino and written by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. It is the first Marvel Studios Special Presentation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and television series of the franchise. The special was produced by Marvel Studios, and follows a secret group of monster hunters as they compete for a powerful relic while going up against a dangerous monster.
Gael García Bernal stars in the special as Jack Russell / Werewolf by Night, along with Laura Donnelly and Harriet Sansom Harris. Development of the special had begun by August 2021, with Bernal cast that November. Giacchino joined by March 2022, ahead of the start of filming later that month at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, which concluded by late April. The special was formally announced in September, when Giacchino revealed he was also composing.
Werewolf by Night was released on October 7, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. The special received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its use of practical effects, the black-and-white cinematography, performances (particularly Bernal and Donnelly), Giacchino's direction and score, and its story, with many noting its departure from previous MCU media.
The Gray Man (2022)
Shallow, derivative, not what I would expect from Russo brothers
The Russo Brothers have given us the best Marvel movies till date. But after seeing Gray Man it seems they are only capable of making a good movie under the guidance of someone. Gray Man has all the great action set pieces, the cool camera works, fight sequences but devoid of any story, dialogue, script whatsoever. I am surprised by the scriptwriters audacity to create kindergarten dialogues in such a big budget movie. Actors like Dhanush are pitted to bait Indian audiences otherwise no character development here. There are are nauseating camera cuts, unnecessary continent hopping scenes. Hope there are no more sequels to this mess.
Fall (2022)
Must watch thriller under the radar
Grace Fulton is a gorgeous actress. But she has acted very well in this movie. While people might go to watch this movie just to simp on her, the movie is actually a very good thriller. From the personal trauma, to the vertigo inducing shots, this movie is sharply made. Short and sweet.
Best friends Becky and Hunter are adrenaline junkies. Becky suffers a great loss when her husband Dan falls to his death while rock-climbing.
51 weeks after Dan's death, Becky is a depressed alcoholic who has distanced herself from her father, James, because he suggested that Dan was not as good a guy as Becky had made him out to be. In desperation to support Becky, Hunter invites her to climb a 2,000 foot (610 m) TV tower in the desert. Though Becky is hesitant, she changes her mind and decides not to live in fear.
The girls make it to the top of the tower, where they spread Dan's ashes. However, the ladder they used earlier breaks before they can climb down. Although they have two smartphones with them, neither has a signal. Becky and Hunter combat dehydration, starvation and vultures while trying to reach out for help. They attempt to send a message from Hunter's phone by throwing it off of the tower in a shoe, but the phone breaks. Some people below notice Hunter and Becky stranded on the tower, but decide to steal their car rather than help.
Hunter tearfully admits to having had an affair with Dan before he married Becky, which contributed to distancing herself from her after his death. Hunter climbs down and reaches their bag with water and a 4K drone that landed on a communications dish. Becky tries to use the drone to deliver a piece of paper with a message asking for help to their motel. Unfortunately, the drone is destroyed by a passing mining truck in the last minute only a few yards before arriving at the motel.
Becky finally realizes that she had been hallucinating and that Hunter actually died after she fell from her harness, landed on the communications dish below and bled out. Becky had only managed to pull the bag up and, delirious from the lack of food and water, hallucinated Hunter's presence on the tower with her for some time. After killing a vulture that attacked her and eating it for sustenance, Becky makes one last attempt to survive by climbing down to Hunter's body and sending a message for help to James by stuffing her phone inside Hunter's body for protection and then throwing the body off the tower so the phone could receive a signal at lower altitude once it crashed on the ground.
The plan works, the authorities find her, James shows up and Becky reconciles with him.
Feludar Goyendagiri (2022)
Grand ascension of the revered Sleuth
For long Feluda was hiding behind the weak shoulders of old actors. This young chap is unabashed, unfaltered and a whipping return to form for Feluda. Strijit Mukherjee did not waste any time on fancy shots and dramatic takes. The focus was completely on the Detective and the chemistry of the three musketeers. The three have done complete justice to their characters. Afterall let us not forget, the source material is gold. Hope they can keep up this exceptional standard in their future endeavors.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Tom Cruise takes the franchise to new heights and broke all barriers
Top Gun maybe was all about style but Top Gun Maverick brings the series to a level it never thought it could reach. All thanks to one man the legend, Tom Cruise! It gives us moments of pure nostalgia, fills our heart with the feeling of true friendship. Not to mention the movie surpasses its predecessor in the technical departments too. While we are worried about spraining our necks by getting up too fast from our office chair, Tom Cruise is flying fighter planes for real in his age! This movie was made for the theater experience. And I was lucky to see it in 4D! All I can say this movie surpassed my expectations even when my expectations were high!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
When the Production Studio fails the filmmakers
There was absolutely no story to tell here. There is no threat other than what our heros create for themselves. We are not concerned about the built up to the next Avenger movie. We just want a good Marvel movie. Make no mistake Sam Raimi did a fantastic job of bringing his panache in this film but alas the story is extremely pointless. Even Benedict has done a excellent job and if you shut your brain you might enjoy the spectacular action that goes on. But at the end I am left disappointed.
West Side Story (2021)
Spielberg can make anything spectacular!
Firstly I would like to say I am not a musical kind of guy. When people suddenly starts singing and dancing in movies, it disrupts my suspension of disbelief. But only Spielberg can make a guy standing in a puddle look magical! How does he do that movie magic? Only I wish the content of the movie was as good as the cinematography. There was a scene where the sharp shadows of the rival gangs mix with each other! Such scenes were mindblowing in the movie. The story was average, the songs were lame. If it was not for Spielberg magic, this would be an unwatchable movie.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
An insult to the original trilogy
The Matrix was a revolutionary movie. We had never seen anything like that before. It was way ahead of its time. The sequels were nowhere near the original but still were quite good on their own accord. The trilogy was built to be a completion of the story. And the humans and machines lived happily ever after. Until some greedy producers saw this as a cash grab opportunity. This movie was never meant to exist. Nothing about it feels like it belongs to the same universe. Morpheus and Agent Smith were replaced by spoof characters. Stylish action sequences were replaced by laughably bad sequences. Some people might say it is a philosophical movie. I say it even fails in that. The first three had a clear ideology while in this the message is convoluted and poorly demonstrated. It is a pathetic excuse of a movie. Only Keanu and Carrie Ann are in top form. Its sad to watch them trying to give their best in a hopeless situation.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
That perfect Spiderman movie
To be honest I never liked Tom Holland's incarnation as Spiderman. Its like he got things on a silver platter or something. Stark as a mentor, Avengers team up, nanotech suit! No emotional baggage of Uncle Ben or MJ. But now it seems its justified because he is destined for even more catastrophic threats. The world is literally ending around him these days. But what was great about him was he proved that the real superpower is showing kindness! He had the courage to help is enemies avoid certain death even when they were trying to kill him. And when we ask for fan service, what a service it was! I wish to keep this spoiler free so really cant say much about the plot. But the friendly neighbourhood Spiderman gets the help that he deserves!
Free Guy (2021)
Hollywood dont understand video games
As a gamer I can safely say the makers of this movie has no clue how video games work. Video games emulate reality. The more realistic the game is, the more respected it is. But the entire concept of "Free City" is how impractical it is. Still I can go with it. But the movie in itself is really not that entertaining. Ryan Reynolds is good at his role but the rest is just bad.
What If...? (2021)
Was End Game the End Game for Marvel movies?
Marvel movie quality (and show) has drastically reduced after the Infinity Saga. Reusing same plots. Unwanted origin stories. Misplaced movies. These are the things thats plaguing the current MCU. We just hope The Eternals is something redeemable.
What If...?: What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger? (2021)
Is this a children's show?
The concept is the most intriguing one. But very poorly executed. The Multiverse concept invites intelligent storytelling. Unfortunately this is very bland. And to add more damage very poorly acted. The animations are quite good considering the mammoth budget Marvel Studios can throw around. I hope the next episodes are better than this.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
A movie as hollow as the Hollow Earth itself
Many people are saying this movie delivers in visuals so its worth watching. But the truth is the story is so offensive to my senses that I feel the massive action sequences are entirely pointless. The science and logic in this movie is so bad that it feels more like a third world movie than a American movie. Ok so can you digest this? Believe for a moment that there is a hollow earth. But how can there be sunlight there when it is inside the Earth's core? Did Kindergarten kids write this movie? Another big one, a self aware titan robot is short circuited by whisky? Are you able to control your laughter now? This is the worst movie of the entire series which is already pretty bad. Watch at your own risk.
Resident Alien (2021)
The fall of a good show!
I was really impressed with this show initially. Andy is hilarious. He is great through out the show. But then the show got dull and boring. It turned into a family snooze fest. Its supposed to be a scifi comedy. Unfortunately it deviates from the topic.
Horizon Line (2020)
Stupidly entertaining
The movie is beautifully shot. Thrilling most of the time. Forgettable characters. Laughably bad acting. But it serves the purpose as an edge of the seat disaster movie.
