Der Templer (2002)
5/10
Well crafted, but bad ending
9 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
"Der Templer" is an unbalanced piece of short film. It contains well-choreographed and edited actions scenes, great production design, good special effects, a nice soundtrack and beautiful camera work. Also, it features a better-known actor from Germany, Walter Sittler. But it lacks definitely of a good story. Besides the character clichés it's dealing with and the historical mistakes (there were no witch-hunts in the time the movie is set), what really leaves you with a bad feeling is the ending. ***SPOILERS*** In the end, the girl saved by the knight reveals herself as an actual witch and rips his heart out, so she can make some dark magic medicine to heal her wounds. This moment is so ridiculous, so laughable, it destroys everything build up before. All the hard work and the money goes down the tube in this right moment. I was told that the film had its premiere on a short film festival and the audience laughed their asses off because of that ending. And furthermore the directors couldn't understand this reaction - this speaks for itself. I give it 5 out of 10. Good work in all of the film-making - except for the script.

oh-my-god!

What a piece of crap!!!

I don't know if "Popstars" or "American Idol" was as bad as this German version of the show but this here is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO terrible! I hate it, hate it, hate it!!! And the really bad thing is that this bunch of idiots (so-called "superstars") is appearing everywhere! All the time!

And folks, this is Germany! We also had this "Popstars"-Casting-Show-rubbish and unlike to other countries the bands that came out of there are still successful. So we will see our "superstars" and especially finalist and super-idiot Daniel Küblböck (try to pronounce that outside of Germany!!) for a long time, I fear.

Blind Date (2001– )
Fantastic Piece of Improvisation
12 December 2002
Just great! two of the leading comedians of Germany come together to improvise a whole blind date by playing two quirky characters. The funny thing is that they don't know what the other one will be, how they look (fantastic make-up by the way), how the talk and react. It's amazing to see these really talented people talking almost about nothing and making one and half hours of entertainment out of it. It was so successful that they made 2 sequels, both of course with new characters and new situations - a taxi and an elevator.

Better than the book
7 December 2002
I read before the novel I saw the film (in my german class) and I have to say this adaption is way better than the book. The book by Heinrich Böll is not easy to read, it's actually very boring and sometimes you just want to throw it at the wall because Böll often just philosophies about some unimportant things. The film concentrates on the "real" story of Katharina Blum and creates an intense portrait of a young woman who becomes a victim of the tabloid press. It's really good and Angela Winkler gives us a superb performance. 7/10.

The best of series!
13 November 2002
Out of the so far 4 batman movies (the older ones not included), this is definitely the BEST!! Its atmosphere catches you from the first minute. Tim Burton created a world you can really drown in. Micheal Keaton proved again that he is the best Batman actor of all. His eyes behind the mask say more in a second than this whole "Batman & Robin" crap did in two hours (or did not to be honest). Walken and DeVito give fantastic performances and Michelle Pfeiffer IS Catwoman. I am so grateful Annette Benning didn't get the role (thanks to Warren Beatty for making her pregnant). Michelle Pfeiffer's performance is one of the most erotic I've ever seen in a mainstream movie. Go and see it! It's just great!
