Giri/Haji (2019)
Superb
Slickly directed crime/drama series. if you are someone who likes mature shows without much brouhaha, you will love this. Has sufficient hints of twists & turns to keep you engrossed. Both the English & Japanese way of life is narrated very appropriately. The acting and the emotional nuances have been captured perfectly by all the lead actors. Just love this series. Hope S2 comes along
Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
One of the best crime dramas
I had heard about this movie starring an absolutely amazing list of brilliant performers and some of them who would make a mark in the future but i really was not expecting it to beat my expectations especially after watching so many mafia crime dramas. But, this is something different from the genre of say a typical mafia movie . The story takes you repeatedly through the present & the past but at no point of time leaves the audience confused. Ultimate mix of crime and the drama genre. Again De Niro & James Woods at their best with a good cameo from Joe Pesci. Though must warn you about the extraordinarily long run time of 3 hours plus.
Ranjit
Lost (2004)
One of the best TV Series ever!!!
I missed out on the first few episodes of the series when it was aired in India in November 05 amid much hype. I thought it would be yet another action/drama kind of a series and can catch it later. I guess I saw the rerun of the 1st & 2nd episodes and was hooked but couldn't see it continuously so finally gave up. Now 4 years later, I got hold of the episodes from the internet & am sitting down hooked to the telly to complete the 1st Season & man what a series.
This has everything for everyone, it has an amazing plot though its not the first time that we are seeing a plane crashing & getting marooned on the island but the treatment given is amazing to say the least. Each character is shaped beautifully with equal amount of screen time spent to shape it in the viewer's mind. I for one am not able to decide which one is the most interesting (though for me, right now, since im on S01 E20, Locke wins hands down for the enigma that he is.) Apart from that the setting i.e. the Island is beautiful and so mysterious and the camera-work is just amazin of course what do you expect??
Just looking forward to see what further mysteries are unraveled on this amazing show.....
