Monte Rosso (2008)
3/10
Disappointing...
22 September 2008
Although I have enjoyed a lot of the Madventures TV series by Tunna Milonoff and Riku Rantala (the producer of this movie), Monte Rosso was a huge disappointment, since the whole format of this movie has been 100% plagiarized from afro-American movies such as Friday and Next Friday. The film was beautifully shot, but the characters and the script lack lots of depth while the actors could cope only in a bearable way. At best, Monte Rosso could only give some kind of a picture of the afroamerican plagiarized bling bling sub-culture of Helsinki's Punavuori, which I unfortunately already knew too well before (it's portraying the local trendsetters who wish they were born in NYC instead of Finland). Although shooting this on film might be interesting, the biggest thing Monte Rosso lacks is all the originality as well as lots of credibility (the thugs in the film are just totally extravagant). Sorry to say. :(
