Julie & Julia (2009)
9/10
A Delightful Saturday afternoon treat.
16 January 2011
This movie is magnificent, I truly mean that. There are not a lot of great movies that come a long these days, and when one does- like this one, it's hard not to soak in every ounce of time it holds. Julie & Julia, isn't just about two different cooks in two different decades of time, it's about food, and life, and falling in love with both of them.

The music, the scenes, the actors, the atmosphere the movie projects is so warmhearted, that's it's hard to believe that people actually got to live their lives this way.

Amy Adams and Meryl Streep shine in their roles, especially the great Meryl Streep. She takes on Julia Child, and just works the role so well. This film certainly is one of the best biopics I have seen in a long time. So overall- this is an amazing feel-good movie, I strongly suggest picking this one up at your local store and adding it to your movie collection. You won't regret it.

The Holiday (2006)
9/10
Soft and Romantic, it's a perfect snowy afternoon treat.
23 November 2010
I loved this film. It brings the feel of Christmas, romance, courage and friendship to a new level. The story is about two women switching houses and ultimately finding what they needed and wanted in their lives. Yes, cliché- but the film itself still has plenty of substance and originality with a romantic comedy storyline.

Kate Winslet just shines in this film and her character is just so easy to relate to. Cameron Diaz who plays 'Amanda' presented herself well in this film also. Very good acting in this film, especially with the rest of the cast- (Jude Law, Eli Wallach, Jack Black..) Bottom line: I highly recommend this movie for anyone who loves chick flicks, Christmas movies, or just in the mood for a feel good film. This movie will always remain in my winter classics and the reason it being is how lighthearted and great it makes you feel for the characters from beginning to end.

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010 TV Movie)
1/10
Really, REALLY bad..
3 September 2010
My best friend and I liked the original camp rock- but this one was just bad. However- it's as good as any Disney channel movie sequel as it oozes with cheesiness. Let me put it this way- I was staring at the television and I couldn't pay attention. It just was boring, and just overall- odd. There really was no climax- and if there was- it was only two minutes long. So in the end, you'll like it if you're under 13. You probably won't like it if you're any older.

Even though the original Camp Rock was weak with it's story, it still maintained the entertainment factor. This one, just didn't provide that. I felt like I was watching a mixture of High School Musical 2 mixed with that new Jonas show and Camp Rock. That combination just didn't work.

Was very disappointed with this one.... (coming from a Twilight fan)
30 June 2010
Everything just was so rushed. After the last two (which I happened to really like), I felt this one just was not cared enough about and thrown together. I'm so disappointed with this one and wish that this was more thought out. I'd rather have Eclipse coming out in November like the last two- but better instead of a early Eclipse movie with rushed scenes and a cheesy beginning.

It felt like New Moon set a bar for Eclipse that Eclipse (in the end) didn't reach. I wish I really liked this movie more, but I am having a hard time finding the good in this movie. It felt like Summit and David Slade didn't put enough care into this movie at all. New Moon was so much better, even with it's depressing mood. It felt like some of the Cullens- like Alice, Carlisle, and Esme hardly had any character development in this movie and the wolfpack/Jacobs side was hardly shown after it's in-depth tell-all in New Moon. Everything was just too too rushed.

On the upside I thought the proposal scene, leg hitch scene, and the Cullen/Werewolf/Jasper training scene was well done. Robert Pattinson delivered a few lines a little wooden, but overall he and Taylor Lautner really delivered their lines and characters well. Kristen Stewert didn't do very well at all when it came to her acting and character. She did better in New Moon, however she delivered confusion between the two men very well.

All in all, I rate this a 6. It was a little better than average, but not as moving as New Moon and not as romantic as Twilight.

At times it can be boring and cheesy, but overall- it's worth watching
23 April 2010
I had a whole different perception on Jessica Simpson before this show. What's funny is that I used to admire her- until I saw her immaturity on the Newlyweds- which really changed my imagery of her. When I first saw this show I was pleasantly surprised. She had a whole different character to her personality and every time I now watch this show I see a fun, nice and caring Jessica Simpson. Something WAY different from the young bratty Jessica in Newlyweds.

Other than Jessica, I think this show is decent. No, it's not interesting enough to be an hour or two long- but it keeps making me come back for more every week. Jessica goes around the world exploring beauty in the mindset of a different country. At times it's moving, and sometimes- the producers try too hard to make this show moving- which can come across as cheesy sometimes. It's not a terrible show, it definitely has it's moments. I have a feeling that this show won't be renewed for a second season, and if it isn't- no big deal. I gotta give Jessica props for coming back after a rough couple of years into a TV show that revolves around beauty, but this show really isn't as amazing as I would have hoped it would be.

Is this show a MUST-see? Probably not. But it's still worth watching.

Funny and charming, but wait until it comes out to DVD....
20 April 2010
This movie is really cute and lighthearted. Yes, it's sort of predictable- but to some extent, that's how a lot of movies are. With that said, it's not cheesy or boring. It provides just enough laughs with just enough romance. I think a lot of women will like this movie because it's about the crazy times, the hard times, and all the moments in between while being pregnant. You don't have to have kids to like this movie, or even be an adult to enjoy it.

Jennifer Lopez shines in this role as does her co-star- Alex O'Loughlin. This movie is great for a rainy day or just a fun Friday night. Is it worth to see in theatres? Not really. Your best bet is to rent it when it comes out to DVD/Blu-Ray.

Good for the hardcore Twilight fan and for others
13 April 2010
This is good for hardcore Twilight fans, but it's also good for those who are interested in Twilight and are more curious about what's real and what isn't in the Twilight saga.

I'm not going to say it's horrible, because it's not. It's better not to have expectations before watching because that can throw your whole attitude of it off. Yes, some people in the documentary are just a little too crazy when it comes to Twilight. But, there are some people on that documentary that are just so happy and at peace with where they live, and the beauty of the place itself along with all of that happiness almost makes you want to live there.

I do think it's kind of moronic for Summit to be making money off of all aspects of Twilight (by having a documentary where the movie takes place). However, it's kind of amazing to see a blur between reality and fantasy, what's in the movies verses what really happens in Forks is not so much different and it's kind of interesting to see.

If you have an hour to kill and you're curious about this or if you're just a die-hard fan- I'd say go for it. But if you're pessimistic on the whole saga or just have small but decent interest in Twilight, it's better not to see it. I personally somewhat liked it, it gave me a new insight on the saga and it wasn't too boring. I gave it a 5.

This movie was actually very good
20 March 2010
This movie is romantic, tragic, and really a Romeo & Juliet-esquire type movie. It begins again with Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson)- madly in love and when he leaves her abruptly after a rough birthday incident, Bella finds herself falling into a deep depression of which Jacob (Taylor Lautner) helps her grow out of. Kristens acting is a little wooden, but it doesn't affect the movie at all. You can really feel the pain from the different characters as they progress through the story. Edwards, Bellas, Jacobs, and even Victorias pain make this story so tragic and really give off a sentimental vibe. When I finished this movie, I was left wondering what would happen next and how the characters would bind together. That's what a movie should do, and it in fact did.

I think some people are judging this movie too harshly. I think we all know this is adored by most females and extreme twihards, but I think that people who don't love the saga are only judging this movie based on that distinction alone- and that isn't right. You really have to see this movie yourself to see how much you'll like it. When you judge this movie you cannot judge this based on who loves this movie or how it is marketed and you will realize the true art of the movie soon enough. No, it's not a Oscar worthy movie, but it really is worth watching because of the storyline and characters.

I'm sorry I watched this
14 February 2010
I originally watched this because of myself being single on Valentine's Day. I thought this would be a fun heartwarming film that would make me feel better about today. (Valentine's Day.) When I noticed that Nia and John would be reunited in this rom-com, I couldn't wait to view it. I loved Nia and John together in Big Fat Greek Wedding, and I thought this would be just another romantic comedy with just enough love and just enough comedy. Sadly, I was let down. This movie tried way too hard to be a variety of things, funny, quirky, romantic,easy-going- you name it. I was so disappointed in Nia and John's chemistry in this movie- it was unbelievable. What happened to the John and Nia in Big Fat Greek Wedding?! Even though Nia and John look way better than they did since Big Fat Greek Wedding, the story and chemistry hardly makes up for it. Not was it just a big cliché fest, it had a number of unfunny moments that were aiming to hard be 'funny'. The character development was terrible. I understand that it was only supposed to be Nia's character having character growth, but literally- her character was the only one who showed growth. Other than that, there wasn't much growth in any other character.

I give this points for small laughs and fun characters, but other than that- this is not worth the watch. Save yourself two hours and watch a movie that'll warm you're heart. This movie surely won't.

Knowing (2009)

I don't understand the negativity behind this movie
11 February 2010
I thought this was arguably one of the best movies of our time. With that said, I've gotta admit I'm a scifi movie lover and these movies are my kinda thing.

This movie literally had everything I typically LOVE in a movie, a great beginning, a thriller climax, and a killer ending. There were no plot holes to this film, which initially made me love this movie in the first place. One thing I love about this movie has to be after I watch it a couple of times- I actually notice little hidden things in the climax that ultimately lead up to the ending, things you don't typically notice when you first watch this movie.

Those who love the indie film-type endings, or those who love horror or slasher films, or actually anyone who likes cliff-hanger endings- this might not be for you. But if you love apocalypse type movies, or are a thriller fanatic then you'll hopefully like this movie. This movie also supports the Christian/Catholic faith- so if you are against it in any way- this movie may not suit you. With that said, it's NOT a Jesus loving movie. The ending has a lot to do with the Christian faith and if that's not for you- don't watch it.

All in all, this is a pretty spectacular movie. The music was on cue with everything in the movie and the scenes were incredible. Each scene had you gripping onto your seat in anticipation. Although this is very under-appreciated, I hope you will give this movie a try.

A film with a lot of heart and just enough comedy.
21 December 2009
Movies like this only come around a few years or so. I personally enjoyed this movie a lot. Everyone seemed as if they really were a member of the family, the chemistry was literally undeniable. This movie really showed what families can be like over the stressful time of the holidays. It breaks out imperfections, sadness and anger- feelings that you wouldn't think would be conflicted with the holidays, but in real life they do. I really think this movie is just another added classic. If you like holiday movies, or just normal everyday family movies- this movie is for you.

I saw this movie for the first time just a few years ago and truly I've liked it ever since. It's a excellent movie for the holidays and it just reminds us that the holidays don't have to be perfect, but if your family is there with you then it brings you together regardless.
