Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009 Video Game)

UNCHARTED 2 REVIEW

I've never played the first uncharted so i didn't know what to expect when i first played this one. Word has it that it basically was just a combination of gears of war and Indiana Jones all in one. It's so much better than both. The story stars Nathan Drake a fortune hunter who's been out of work for a while until a friend, Harry Flynn, offers him up a job to help him out on an expedition to find Marco Polo's trail to shambalaa. Eventually Nate has been double crossed and what follows is one of the most amazing,intense, and thrilling story to be told in a video game.

Gameplay consists of 4 things duck and cover gun-play, stealth, puzzle solving and parkour style navigation through environments (my personal favorite) I was just amazed on how much variety there was in the game play department and was just unprepared for it so much. The set-pieces are top notch and every single one of them feels like it's been ripped out of a summer blockbuster flick. There is a scene in the game where you are in a building trying to fight off a chopper along with soldiers pouring in until suddenly the chopper fires missiles at the building causing it to collapse and as it is being collapsed you are still trying to fight off soldiers until finally you are to take a leap of faith and BAM you are in the next step through the thick of the battle. Now keep in mind this is all happening in real time and it's not a cut-scene.

The characters in the game are developed pretty well and the voice acting is some of the best i've heard in a video game in a long time and really helps develop the story greatly when it comes to cut-scenes. This is actually one of the video games that i wouldn't mind to sit back and watch the cut-scenes it feels like you're watching a live action movie almost. I was completely hooked into it

FINAL VERDICT--9.5 out of 10

I would've given it a perfect 10 but there are a few flaws like some textures popping in but as i was playing through it all that was the only flaw i found in the game but it hardly ever happens. All in all this was one of the best games I've ever played in my life so far. definitely on my top 5 and If you have a ps3 you'd be crazy if you choose to skip this amazing title.

Gamer (2009)

non-stop actionfest

neveldine/taylor are starting to rapidly become 2 of my all time favorite directors. I've just come back from a screening of gamer and i gotta say this is the action film of the summer. The film takes place in the not so distant future where virtual reality gaming is being taken to the next level. They're not controlling your typical cg characters but real people this time around. The film's pacing does not let up at all. I mean the movie was only about an hour and a half long but it is packed with over the top action with blood and gore all over the place. The performances in the movie are also great especially with actors like Gerard Butler, Amber Valetta, Michael C Hall (his performance was the best in my opinion),Kyra Sedgwick and Ludicrous. Now I probably know what you're thinking "ludacris" but to tell you the truth he wasn't half bad at all. Now about the action. IT WAS BADASS I mean really every action scene in the movie was top notch,it really matched that feel of an old 80's action flick which i love. and just the way they shot the movie was really interesting since it was from the same directors that did the crank films it had... well i don't know how to explain it but let's just say it was gritty dirty and had that feeling of you're actually there. Bottom line Gamer was a real blast. The characters and performance were great the action was AWESOME the story really sucks you in. Neveldine/Taylor I look forward to see your future projects.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

Once again I found myself going into another movie not knowing what to expect. I never really did care much about transformers in general but after seeing the first movie i thought to myself wow so that was transformers huh not bad. so when the news came about announcing the 2nd movie i just thought what more could they do? answer more action more explosions more Megan fox and another story i didn't care much about the film's highlights obviously were the extended over the top action scenes. watching those robots really duke it out on the big screen really makes you feel like you're right in the action and man are there a handful of those scenes. At first I just thought wow this movie basically was just one action scene after another. The story however is just straightforward and linear to say the least. Now I'm not gonna spoil anything I mean this is just a review if you wanna know the story read the summary or go watch the movie. overall it's just another summer blockbuster with pure entertainment

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)

decent kung fu action flick

PROS decent story, a lot of action and fight scenes well choreographed and aggressive, kristin kreuk surprisingly good as chun-li, robin shou as gen (i really liked him a lot in this one) a hot club scene with kristin kreuk and josie ho (awww yeaahhhh) =)

CONS (and there are more than a few) not much character development, story seemed kinda rushed just to get to the action/fight scenes. the fights themselves while good they were a bit short. Vega shows up only once in the whole movie only to get his ass beat by chun-li in less than a min. (i mean i thought there was gonna be a 2nd fight with him at least before facing bison) speaking of bison i think (FANS THIS GOES TO YOU) you're gonna be disappointed at the end =) i sure was.

all in all a decent fun kung fu flick and video game adaptation. Better than the Van Damme version i'd say.

Punisher: War Zone (2008)

the best action movie i've seen this year. walked in the theater with a lot of expectations and this movie did not disappoint. the film stars ray stevenson as the punisher and dominic west as the main villain jigsaw. the movie starts out with the punisher taking out a whole mob family in their home well at least most of them anyway leaving billy russoti aka jigsaw highly deformed along with a few other mob members. while during the massacre frank accidentally kills an undercover agent leaving him doubting to whether or not he should continue as the vigilante. but knowing that jigsaw would go after the undercover agent's family he was but to do one more job and that's to eliminate jigsaw and his army and to make up what he's done.

UPS --they really made this punisher the way it's supposed to be made, brutal and violent --the way they portrayed this version of the punisher is by far the closest to the comic books --JIGSAW. just one of my favorite villains finally on screen

downs --acting wasn't really top notch --not much on character development --ending was...... eh cheesy lol watch the movie you'll know what i mean

OVERALL--great non stop action movie

Quantum of Solace (2008)

I walked into the theater didn't expecting much of this film clearly i was wrong. This was one of the best movies i've seen this year. I mean come on it's james bond. WITH A VENGEANCE. The movie just picks up 5 mins after Casino Royale ended and it really opens with a bang. I mean it literally just goes right into the action. There's not much story in this one. In fact i kinda was confused on what it was. But from what i understand Bond was out seekeng revenge on whoever killed his girlfriend Vesper Lynd the main lady from the previous film. And something about bolivias water supply or something but anyway this was one of the more action packed bond flicks. Classic bond fans might be a bit disappointed because most of the bond charm and clichés were taken out but action fans and bond fans alike should still definitely check this movie out. And with the running time of 1 hr and 45 min this is the shortest bond movie to date. But you guys should still give this one a shot. it gets a 8 out of 10 in my book ps olga kurylenko is HOTT ;)

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

I found this movie at blockbuster one day just thought id check it out. i didn't know what i was to expect in this movie. i've seen it at least 3 times now and i just got one word to describe this film, INCREDIBLE.it was right up there with iron man in my opinion. I loved this movie from the acting to the story to the action etc. It was pretty epic. Finally they have made the hulk the way it was supposed to be made. It just got right to the point unlike the previous hulk film by Ang Lee. It was just so boring but this one gets right to it. It starts out with Bruce Banner, he has been in hiding somewhere in Brazil for a good 6 months still trying to find a cure to get rid of the monster within him. It seems to be going pretty well until the military somehow found out where he has been hiding and hunted him down and it pretty much goes from there i guess. He makes his way back to the states, meets his old girlfriend, and so on. The scenes where he becomes the hulk are really worth it especially the final fight between him and abomination. There was a few things they took from the old TV show as well. "The lonely man" song was even put in there and i wasn't expecting that lol and other things. I really hope they consider making a sequel
