One Note at a Time (2016)
Uplifting and heartbreaking portrayal of musicians' lives
Music heals the masses, but who heals the musicians? An accurate portrayal how important The Musicians Clinic is to the music community. In a city that values music, the clinic helps keep the music alive by keeping the musicians healthy. Reneé Edwards presents a poignant documentary that leaves you cheering for the clinic, rooting for the musicians, and mourning those who have been "called home". If you want to know New Orleans, this is a "must see".
Reptilicus (1961)
The Wonderful World of Schlock...
This has to be one of my MOST favorite films of all time. The entire story is ridiculous, the effects are silly, the portrayal of the U.S. Army Officer is, well, cliche is too weak a word... All in all, the entire movie is hilarious! The character of Petersen is, I am assuming, the "Danish Jerry Lewis", as his slapstick antics (including a dance with an electric eel) and his facial expressions are obvious comic relief. Evidently the producers didn't realize that the movie was already funny and didn't need the extra comedy... Take the shot of the reptile eating the farmer... one pause will confirm that it is actually a paper cut-out being "stop action" pushed down the monster's throat.
Anyone who has a soft spot for silly monster flicks (b-grade?? insult to the genre!) will find this more than amusing! The only thing that might wear one's patience is the tourism promo of Copenhagen that was inserted into the middle of the film. I got past that by learning the words to "Tivoli Nights" and singing along... this gives everyone time to hit the bathrooms, grab a beverage, get more food... whatever, without having to hit pause. They thought of everything!
I give this movies 5 stars! Funny monster puppet, Dense US Army Officer, Sterotypical Scientists, Danish girls trying to emulate "Petticoat Junction", Falling buildings, Green slime... I haven't even scratched the surface!
