Thank You for Your Service (2017)
True story, yet all too familiar
I personally served 5 combat tours between Iraq and Afghanistan. Each time I returned, I found myself having a harder time separating myself from the military. I ended up being career because it was all I knew. It cost me 4 marriages, 3 children, and my mental health. My current wife (#4) is trying to help me stay on my feet and walk a civil path. Between pills for pain and many meds for psychiatric treatment I am slowly moving on. With movies like this, I am able to take what I can and fix each problem.
The Exorcism of Molly Hartley (2015)
Not too bad...
First, needs to get these people (trolls) out of here padding the 1 star ratings. Now with that said, you have to consider Molly's story as a whole before judging this. It is imperative that you see the Haunting of Molly Hartley (if you haven't) before watching. That is only so you can get a little back story on Molly. So, without giving away any story, my review is 8 out of 10 and see both of them sequentially if it's been awhile since you saw Haley Bennet as Molly. However, as far as exorcism movies go - I thought this was as good as Emily Rose but the Exorcist is still the best one.
Attack of the Killer Donuts (2016)
The Title says it all...
For those who gave this a low rating, you obviously expected too much. The movie was intended to be cheesy and ridiculous. When you watch it, you have to have the right mindset and sense of humor. The pure ridiculousness is along the lines of 1978's attack of the killer tomatoes, which, by the way spawned three sequels.
Angie Tribeca (2016)
Some people just don't get it...
You must have this type of sense of humor to enjoy this show. Comparing it to police squad or the like is fruitless. Zucker and Abrahams were literal spoofers. This show continually has laughs and giggles, but, you have to pay attention and be in the mood for it. Giving it anything less than a 6 makes me feel like you don't really know how to honestly critique anything. Obviously, the show gets overwhelming support from viewers, Hollywood, and their peers. Perhaps those rating it poorly should watch it more.
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
This is for the movie and the bad reviews.
First, if you are going to give a bad opinion, make sure you actually saw the movie. Second, make sure you understand that the MCU is doing concurrent films of character buildup for future corroboration between these characters. Third, know that certain actors don't do movies with bad scripts. Last, if you are going to complain, be articulate, be clear about what you found was wrong (Cite references if possible). I cannot take anyone seriously who uses bad spelling an grammar.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie as it followed the post-apocalypse Ant Man and the Wasp and how they came to be in regards to the Avengers. The key to criticizing any film based on a novel of any kind, is to read and "comprehend" the novel. I know this new generation isn't up on reading.
Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)
Not what I was expecting
I feel dumb after seeing this. I counted that I was one of four men in the theater that sat 355.
Admittedly, there are some humorous parts. Fisher does a great job playing stupid and trying to cover it up. She carried the movie as expected, but I was still not pleased at the overall targeted message. Cash or Credit? Debt? Perfect personification of the stereotypical collection agent (despite the television appearance, of course). My wife also will shop when upset, but we never use credit, so I understood the motives she gave for her actions.
I found the manikins in the store windows to be quite funny. Tempting her at every passing leaving the ball in her court to decide if she needed to purchase the product or not. And I don't even know where to go with the whole green scarf thing. Her name was know shortly after the first magazine publishing...why the anonymity?
Friday the 13th (2009)
I was not Disappointed
As was stated in many others' comments; The first 15-20 minutes start off with fierce violence and bloodshed. Loved it... Then stagnant for about twenty or so more minutes while you were introduced to the next set of Jason's victims.
My favorite points about this remake is that Michael Bay stuck with the original Jason mentality. Jason never left Crystal Lake (not in space, in new york, etc.) he cherished his mother and still would hallucinate that he sees his mother if someone uses something from her like the sweater in Friday the 13th II. Amanda Righetti did very well as the damsel... damn good thing she kept that locket or she would have been hung by the fire! I liked that when Jason stalked his victims, he was just as sneaky, but would pursue them by sprinting... the original Jason never ran...only walked and would reappear. This Jason is definitely more of a realistic homicidal maniac.
Bravo Zulu again Mr. Bay
The Unborn (2009)
Stillborn
Predictable from the moment your learned of her twin. I expected more suspense and thrills but received none. This is a dyslexic Damien. They even left it open to the possibility of a sequel...Michael Bay, please help! I felt bad for Gary Oldman since he chose to participate in such an awful film. The sheer fact that this girl is being haunted, not by her supposed unborn twin, but yet her unborn grand uncle who was not totally killed in Auschwitz during WWII is ludicrous. Who comes up with this garbage? It would have been better leaving it as her unborn twin wanted to be born, but now she will be the one giving birth...whodda thunk it?
