The greatest Disney short ever... in my opinion
2 November 2006
I had heard a lot about this short film called "The Little Matchgirl" in the last few months, like how it was originally created for an aborted "Fantasia" sequel, how it was based on a short story by "Little Mermaid" author Hans Christian Andersen, yadda yadda. But, when I finally got the 2-disc "The Little Mermaid" Platinum Edition DVD on which "Little Matchgirl" is found, I was totally blown away. Roger Allers did a (pardon my language in a comment on a Disney film)damn fine job on this short. I do believe that if nominated for an Oscar, "The Little Matchgirl" will blow all those other shorts out of the water.

Just a friendly word of advice, folks: bring a lot of Kleenexs...

Super Sentai Damashii-The spirit lives on
27 November 2004
If memory serves, Toei wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its SUPER SENTAI franchise. So, they found a way to weave five members of past Sentais plus 24 "Red Rangers" (GaoRed not withstanding) and clips from all 25 (at the time) teams into an adventure with the GaoRanger team.

Toei did a great job with "Hyakuju Sentai Gaorenjaa vs. Super Sentai." Seeing the five main past Sentai members (GingaBlue, GoGoYellow, MegaPink, LiveRed and Big One), plus all 25 "Red Rangers" and seeing various Zords/mecha from past teams attack the main monster gave me chills down my spine.

THIS IS HOW "FOREVER RED" SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE!

Thunderbirds (2004)
Jonathan Frakes' best directorial effort since "First Contact"
31 July 2004
Jonathan Frakes made a good decision in bypassing the load of crap that was "Star Trek: Nemesis" to make "Thunderbirds." And, since Frakes' feature directorial debut with "Star Trek: First Contact," this film was his best. This makes me hope even more that if there is to be an eleventh "Star Trek" movie, I hope Jonathan Frakes takes the "center seat." Sir Ben Kingsley as "The Hood" proved he can do just about anything in a movie, and Hans Zimmer made good use of Barry Gray's original "Thunderbirds" theme. All in all, "Thunderbirds" is the best film I've seen in a theatre since "American Wedding."

F.A.B. all the way!

Nice concept, failed execution
10 March 2004
"S.M.A.S." had a workable concept: meld classic Disney shorts with new music to tell a story with a moral. Buena Vista TV just didn't have enough faith in the concept. At least, "S.M.A.S." gave us Kirsten Storms (Zenon in the Disney Channel movies and a different Belle on "Days Of Our Lives"). She's about the only good thing that came out of "Sing Me A Story." My Mom and I used to watch "S.M.A.S." every week to see if it got better, but... it just didn't.

Now, you may have a different opinion.... it's just a wrong one, I think. Now, if Buena Vista TV wants to try again, I'll give it another shot.

Boy Meets World (1993–2000)
It's all a part of life!
25 November 2002
I have been a fan of "Boy Meets World" from the beginning. (It's not just because I have a crush on Danielle Fishel [Topanga]. But, that's another story.) Anyway, I have read some of the comments about this show and they SICKEN ME!!!!! Many of the situations depicted on "Boy Meets World," especially in the last two seasons of the show, happen to teenagers at some point. IT'S ALL A PART OF LIFE!!!!!!!!!
