Drugs, Inc. (2010– )
10/10
An interesting and neutral documentary
5 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
"Drugs, Inc" presents a very neutral view on a very controversial subject - drugs. In four parts, they review Cocaine, Meth, Heroin, and Marijuana. They show all aspects of these subjects - Heroin, for example, shows everyone involved in the trade from the poppy growers in Afghanistan, the ways smugglers are detected, the dealers who sell it on the streets, and of course, the addicts themselves.

This series of documentaries is very emotionally compelling, and even as a teenager, they discouraged me from ever thinking about touching so-called "hard drugs". What they put in these shows are the straight facts, and the ways they affect people. Without being an anti-drug crusade, "Drugs, Inc" shows a powerful, clear view on the substances they review. I highly recommend this.

Fringe (2008–2013)
10/10
What's with all the hate?
3 October 2009
I had started watching Fringe when it aired in my country, and at first, I didn't really find it particularly interesting. However, I decided to persevere with it, and I'm very glad I did. This show is not perfect, but it's definitely not as bad as all these reviews tend to make out. With each episode (so far), I find myself more deeply immersed in the plot, more involved with the characters, and I can't wait until the next one airs. A lot of these other reviews say it's worse than 'Lost' - which isn't true. I tried watching Lost, for the entire first season, but I found myself completely bored, with no real plot line to follow. The opposite is true with Fringe. Each episode has two plots - One, the overall plot of the series, and two, the plot of the individual episode, such as the investigation. This is common practice, but Fringe makes it.. fresher.

All in all, don't make any decisions on whether to watch this or not based off reviews on here. There's a lot of controversy - some hate it, some love it - just watch it for a while and judge it for yourself. I personally don't like the first 10 or so episodes, so I recommend you at least for a bit after that. They honestly do get better. 9/10

The Cult (2009– )
6/10
So far, So good
24 September 2009
I've just finished watching the very first episode of 'The Cult'. I had no idea what to expect, other than the obvious - that it had something to do with a cult. As it started, I could only see it as yet another corny, empty drama. However, after the first 10 minutes, it started to brighten up - and I soon found myself immersed in the story. I enjoyed it quite a lot, and I look forward to the next episode. Plenty of cliff hangers, which can be both a good and a bad thing - but all in all, this is a good change of pace for drama shows in NZ. The acting isn't great, but it isn't as bad as a lot of other NZ shows. I would recommend this if you don't take it too seriously, because if you do, you simply won't enjoy it. 6/10
