Casino (1995)
Unbelievably underrated. As good as GoodFellas. A true Scorese classic.
This is a movie that I have watched 50 times. And all I want to do is watch it again.
Let me start of by saying, a lot of people keep saying 'This is not as good as GoodFellas'. Well that's simply not true. The movie is based on the real story of the upbringing of Las Vegas as we know it today and the main people behind it. This in itself is one the most fascinating mob stories of one of the most fascinating places on Earth and Martin Scorsese and all the actors have really brought this story on screen so incredibly well.
The movie will keep you glued to the screen and it's incredible detail, acting, voice overs and sets are nothing short of the work of a true genius of film making.
Robert DeNiro plays the role of Frank 'Lefty' Rosenthal and he portrays the character to perfection (seriously, it's inch perfect) along with Joe Pesci who scares the life out of you when you watch him in this movie. Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci's character) is the real muscle of the mob gang at that time in Vegas, and boy we can see that through Joe Pesci's incredible portrayal of the real life character.
It is important to mention the incredible performance by Sharon Stone as well. She pushed herself to the limit with this role and this role really needed someone at the limit, so they way she carried herself through this role is incredible.
Martin Scorsese, your detail in this movie is out of this world. There is not a second of the 2 hours and 50 minutes that is off key. It is perfect to the dot.
Phenomenal movie. A must watch. One of the all time greats.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010)
It's back!
Harry Potter is back at last and this latest installment does not disappoint at all! Harry and the team are off on the journey to find the remaining pieces of the seven segments of Lord Voldermort's soul, and have to face mighty challenges throughout their journey. As they set off, it is fascinating to see how they find clues and solutions to all their problems.
Daniel Radcliffe has done a great job, portraying the fear as well as the bravery and determination of Harry Potter in facing each and every challenge he gets. Emma Watson shows us why Hermione Granger is such a key part of the group, showing her intellect and her care and love for her two best friends. Rupert Grint(Ron Weasley) adds his wonderful sense of humor and his knack of being in the right place at the right time! David Yates has directed this extremely well and you just do not want to take your eyes of the screen!
For me, Tied for best movie of the series with Goblet Of Fire. Can't wait for the grand finale!
Inception (2010)
Nola, Near perfection.
The minute I saw Leo Dicaprio and Nolan collaborating to do this project, I knew I was going to experience a brilliant one. Dicaprio has an uncanny knack of selecting mind blowing projects, previously with Marty Scorsese, now with Nolan.
This was a gem of a movie. It was a very exciting and captivating script and was flawless in it's direction. The fact that it was written, directed and produced by Nolan tells us what a genius he is. He explores the concept of dream invasion. The cast here have done a brilliant, it explores a very futuristic idea and has all the elements a good movie needs(a little bit of comedy too, thank you bob!). It has the one quality about it that is present in most greats, you cannot take your eyes of it once you start watching. It is without a doubt the best movie of the year so far and is a must watch.
Oscar bells are ringing.
Entourage: Stunted (2010)
Entourage is back and is as brilliant as always
The crew is back, and things start of just as they left us at the end of last season. Ari Gold is back and is now the biggest agent in the world! Turtle's got a job and he lets his love for women mess up his career decisions. Drama is running around circles trying to land a show. E is living the life with his fiancée and his dream job at Berrenson's. Vince continues the production of his new movie. He is asked to do a highly dangerous stunt which he gets convinced into doing and he makes Ari and E to get him out of a tough situation as always. He finally ends up doing it because no one thinks he is brave and he wants to prove a point.
Overall, It's brilliant to see that the show has not lost a BIT of its originality and the individual characters are just as they were last season. Great start.
