Rocky Style Underdog Movie
4 October 2011
I went and saw this at an early screening for a charity event. I got to meet Hugh Jackman and see the movie in Imax... Hugh is an amazing person, so down to earth and nice! He said it was an underdog story and was like Rocky, he was right. It really is like a cross between Rocky and Transformers. It's your typical Disney underdog story, but the special effects were nice and the kid (also played young Thor in Thor) was pretty funny. I really enjoyed it, even though it was predicable, but no one says that just because a movie is predictable doesn't mean it can't be good. It has some cursing, but nothing you wouldn't hear on network TV. It's a good family movie and I have already told all of my friends to check it out.

Is Dr. Miles Gonna Have To Choke A B*tch?
26 April 2009
Oh man... Crank 2 was all I expected it to be and more... Before I saw the movie I read some of the message boards on here and I couldn't see why so many people were hung up on the fact that it's "not realistic" HELLO did you even LOOK at the 1st one? That is the point!!! It's not supposed to be realistic, it's supposed to be like a video game. Anything can happen in a video game, and anything can happen in Crank! I can't wait till the Blu-ray comes out I want to see the behind the scenes stuff. I watched the commentary and things about the 1st Crank and it helped me pick up on some things in the 2nd one that some may not know... like when they are at the race track, you see an Asian man in a red shirt many times as an extra. I would say they have him in there for a reason. In the 1st Crank they talked about this random Asian guy in the China Town scene and how he was in EVERY SHOT making crazy facial expressions and cheering them on... I would almost guarantee that is why this one appears... anyway... the movie is great. It's full on in your face, hilarity. Jam packed with violence, gore, randomness and craziness that leaves you sitting there like... "What just happened?" I would recommend this movie to all those with A.D.D. The only times I stopped laughing was when I was in utter disbelief of the gore that I was witnessing... It's disappointing that it didn't do as well in the box office... I hope there is a Crank 3!!!

Fast & Furious 2.5
4 April 2009
I have read all previous comments and only see a couple of people that actually make a comment that it is supposed to happen between 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift... I'm sure this had something to do with Justin Lin directing Tokyo Drift as well as Fast & Furious. I'm glad that he made it happen that way because I am sure there were many people that saw Tokyo Drift and thought, "Where did this movie come from?" It was so random to have it be a Fast and Furious movie when it had nothing to do with either of the original 2 with the exception of the again, random, cameo of Dom at the end of it. In the first couple of scenes of Fast & Furious you see that Han is part of Dom's crew that hi-jacks gas tankers in the Dominican Republic. When the heat is on Dom once again, he tells Han it's time to go do his own thing. Han tells him that he hears of some things going on in Tokyo. If you recall in Tokyo drift, Han tells Sean that Tokyo is his "Mexico" he was running to stay out of jail.

I really enjoyed this movie. The plot wasn't as detailed as the previous but it followed along well with what you think might happen in a Fast & Furious movie... Paul Walker plays Brian O'Conner again, he is still working law enforcement, although this time he is big boy FBI. Vin Deisel is back as Dominic Toretto. He and Brian are trying to get in with a drug ring for different reasons, but team up to help each other get what they are after.

The movie is full of everything you expect from the franchise: Nice cars, great racing, hot women and hot guys (to suit everyone's taste) This movie has great action sequences as well. I recommend this movie to anyone that has followed the other 3... or at least the first 2. If they make a 5th one I'll be first in line to see it too.

Makes Amityville Seem Like A Walk In The Park
28 March 2009
I am one of those "easy to scare types" but not many movies put out in the past few years have managed to really creep me out...Until I saw A Haunting In Connecticut... I have to say that it is one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen in my entire life. Amityville has nothing on this house... This movie is based on a true story that happened to a family in CT. The oldest son of the family, Matt, has cancer and is on the edge of death. He is undergoing an experimental treatment that makes him see and hear things, so he thinks. Not wanting to be taken off of the treatment he doesn't tell people at first, but as he gets drug more and more into the depths of the houses frightening past, he has no choice but to try and find help. What he uncovers will astound you and leave you huddled in your seats with your hands over your eyes. The movie was amazing, the acting was great and it truly freaked me out. I saw it during the day and still looked around corners. The only thing I found wrong with the movie was that it is PG-3, I think this movie could have had an R rating with some of the scenes of gore and what not. I recommend this movie to anyone that likes to get scared or even thinks they cannot be scared. It makes you wonder what is behind your walls...

Nothing Short of Hilarious...
27 March 2009
I have always been a fan of movies that Apatow Productions puts out. I Love You, Man was hilarious. Jason Seigel and Paul Rudd are great together, they both have a unique way of bringing comedy that keeps me laughing. I was surprised that there weren't any cameos from the usual actors in their movies (Seth Rogan, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, etc.) Anyone that liked movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Knocked Up, you will love this movie! Paul Rudd plays a real estate agent, Peter, he has proposed to his girlfriend and has his life ahead of him, the only problem is, he doesn't have a best man. He doesn't have many male friends. He is supposed to sell Lou Ferrigno's house (The Incredible Hulk from the 1970's TV show) He has an open house and meets Jason Seigel's character, Sydney. This is where it gets the funniest. Peter tries to pursue a friendship with Sydney, all the while acting like a "little school girl" getting nervous, saying crazy things that don't make sense. The movie is great. I recommend everyone go see it.

Apparently Knowing... Isn't Everything...
27 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
When I saw this movie, I really liked the first hour and a half... but then it happened... IT ENDED... HORRIBLY... The movie was good, visually, and even had a decent plot to it until the end. I'm sorry but it seemed stupid to me... Not the part about the world ending, that would have been fine. I don't see the point in the children being whisked off in a new age Noah's Ark of sorts, by some "aliens" that look like they belong as extras in Valkyrie. I suppose that they wanted to save the children's lives so they wouldn't receive bad reviews for killing kids. I tried to think of it as maybe the Christian faith, where people are Left Behind and the children are saved but that doesn't really seem feasible, the movie has a religious undertone anyway and if they were going to make it seem as if the children were being saved by God then all believers should have been saved as well.... Also... There were MANY children in the theater when I saw this movie on opening day. I am sure that many parents were as surprised as I was to find the movie with such graphic imagery. Personally I liked it in the movie, but I can understand where some people would find it not suitable for younger children. I think they could have gone with an R rating. Overall I liked the movie, the ending could have been written better. I would recommend seeing it, but only if you go to an early bird showing (such as I did) or rent it... basically, don't pay over $5.50 to watch it.

Will Smith... Enough Said...
27 March 2009
Honestly, I do not think that anyone has just reason to ever say that Will Smith is not one of the most talented actors of all time. He has proved in my book, to be better than legendary African-American actor Denzel Washington. His versatility has no bounds, I love that he can be in a hilarious action/comedy then go straight to an extremely serious drama that puts things in a whole new light. Seven Pounds was by far one of the best movies I have seen lately. I always take more away from a movie when I am challenged to keep my attention to know what is going on. This movie does that and more! Will Smith plays Tim Thomas, a man that had everything going for him until "7 seconds" changed everything. He decided to take on his brother's identity and find people that he felt needed help in one way or another. I'm not going to give away any major details but he helps 7 people in ways that no one would even think of. This movie is a great representation of just how far generosity can go... even if it is to the EXTREMES... All in all... I don't care WHO you are... WATCH... THIS... MOVIE!!!

Watchmen (2009)

Good ol fashioned violence and chaos
18 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I waited a few weeks to go see this movie because a few people had told me that it was horrible. I went against their judgment to see it anyway after all the hype died down. I went into the movie with high hopes I enjoy Zach Snyder's work and thought he would make an interesting movie... if not.. there were bound to be awesome special effects! I didn't mind sitting through the 3 hours even into the opening credits I knew I was going to like it. The way they took famous photos and altered them to include the Minutemen was great. I liked watching the movie simply to see the twists they put on American history. As i expected, the special effects were amazing i look forward to watching it on Blu-ray. The gore factor was a little high but is about the same as previous Snyder films but it works great for the movie. WEAK STOMACHS BEWARE!!! Overall i liked the plot of the "masks" trying to deal with normal life until a threat of their demise and the world's brings the dysfunctional family of tortured souls together for another shot at heroism. I have seen many complaints about Dr. Manhattan's blue penis... it didn't show it that much and they probably wouldn't care if it were Laurie's boobs in half a dozen scenes. Women watch movies with female nudity all the time with no complaint. Get over it guys its just a penis you see one everyday... Anyway... A MUST SEE for action junkies but leave the kids at home...its no Batman
