LOVE this movie

It's funny because I don't think the acting in this is very good MOST of the time...but I'm not sure the movie would be any better if it was. The storytelling and the "cinematography" is amazing.

The terrible way that it starts led me to believe I was going to watch a pretty bad B movie and I even started thinking about what else I could do when I couldn't take it anymore...

Then it started to turn into a compelling drama and then a thriller and the whole time I couldn't stop thinking: OMG - there are cameras EVERYWHERE! EEP! I really enjoy that some things don't resolve - that's how life is, right there.

Personally, I think that the way it suspends between reality and fiction - constantly pulling the viewer back and forth between the two - is just amazing. Very nice work.

It's the acting.

Warning: Spoilers
The AHHCTING! It's awful! But everything else - besides the low, low budget - is really great. I hope the director got paid well, at least, because it seems to me he must have worked pretty hard on this. The writing is just OK - that doesn't help - concept is great as is the execution.

I really want to care about these people but then they start AHHCTING! again and I'm all "didn't I see him in that ad for Nescafe?" and then the screaming comes back and I remember to watch the movie.

Once I do that and calm myself with the fact that, at least the actors LOOK right for their parts, and really just pay attention to the movie as a whole it's pretty good, in fact.

And, as someone else mentioned - I'd call it a Thriller or Mystery before I called it Sci-Fi any day. Or I might say: SPOILER: "Surprise! It's Sci-Fi!" If that could be a label.

I passed over this movie so many times just because it was a zombie movie. I figured that, having seen about 30, I had seen the 5 good zombie movies that exist. But Omygoodness! I'm so shocked by how good this movie is. So simple and so complex (another reason I passed it up is because I felt the concept was too complicated for any writer/director to handle well - I was wrong, and right too, because as well as it was handled, we don't really get to the bottom of things, do we?) and so worth every second.

OK, I also love that it's in Ontario because that's where I'm from...and I love the accuracy of the portrayal. I can't imagine I'm ever going to be able to enjoy a quiet night driving through the Kawartha's listening to the radio again without feeling, at least, a little nervous.

Is this meant to be funny? But no, cuz it's not even really funny in that TOTALLY NOT meant to be funny way.... I like the premise but I'm so offended by it's lame follow through. Could be way better. I almost wish someone would remake it. But no one ever remakes movies this bad. Which is mistake, yes? Why remake good movies? Remake this one.

OK - you need more. Well, there are 3 good actors in this movie and the writing is pretty good actually - tho, obviously, so rarely well delivered. I hate the fake/real quality of it. Like: it doesn't look fake and it doesn't look real. And like I said: I keep waiting for a big belly laugh. JUST as I think something's going to make me laugh it's not funny anymore. And it's just never dramatic enough to be compelling otherwise.
