Jurassic Park III (2001)
A huge disappointment. I wish Spielberg had directed it!
This movie does not carry the torch from the two previous installments. What Spielberg originally set out to do, was to make the dinosaurs appear as animals, and not as monsters/Gozilla.
I feel that this, the 3rd installment, directed by Joe Johnston, does exactly what Spielberg tried to avoid - it portrays the dinosaurs as monsters. This simply kills the movie for me.
Also the story is too hollow, and there's a lack of character development. Something that also really annoys me is how unrealistic some of the scenes are. The guy hanging from a tree in a parachute,is first of all still hanging there after 8 weeks even though he definitely isn't out of reach of some of the dinosaurs. Secondly, he is a totally clean skeleton with no flesh or skin; again this is after only 8 weeks.
Friends with Benefits (2011)
Chick-Flick
This is definitely a "chick-flick". Watching the trailer I was thinking it was a comedy; but mark my words - it's a chick-flick.
The majority of the humor in this movie only appeals to women, and the story line as well.
Furthermore this is one of the most predictable movies I've seen... And it seriously insults your intelligence by spelling out every single thing going on, stuff that you would understand automatically, if you just have a shred of intelligence.
As a man, I would rate this movie 3 out of 10 stars.. But I realize I was not the intended audience of this movie, and it seemed that all of the women in the theater had a great time, laughing and what not. Based on that I think this movie hits home in regards to its intended audience. 7 out of 10 stars it is.
Drive (2011)
Refreshing!
Awesome movie... Drive is like the total opposite to one of those cookie- cutter Hollywood movies that see the light of day way too often.
The filming, acting, story and instruction are just top notch. Every single scene is just excellently lit (it's a joy to watch).
Drive doesn't rush through the scenes to get to some big explosions or otherwise purposeless action gimmicks.
The movie doesn't insult your intelligence (like so many Hollywood movies do).
This movie definitely deserve 10/10 stars, and I would highly recommend watching this movie in the cinema (it just fits the big screen so well), and not wait until it hits the DVD or Bluray marked.
