Very dull episode, no humor or exitement at all
27 August 2023
I was very enthousiastic to watch this series, but was very disappointed. The locations, sets, costumes etc. Look perfect and match with the movies. But the storyline/script is very uninteresting, acting is mediocre and there is no humor at all. I also hoped to get to know more about the rise of Sauron, but it starts when he is established as lord of the dark already. We started to watch the episode with six, and I was the last to sit through the last 20 minutes because I wanted to be sure I would not miss anything, might it becaome better. It didn't. Total waste of my time. I don't think I will watch the rest of the series.

Total disgrace to Mel Brooks' career
5 May 2023
I was exited to see this as I have always loved 'History of the world part I'. Therefor I kept on watching episode 1 and even halfway episode 2 because I hoped it would eventually get funny. Unfortunately it didn't. There is nothing to laugh or even smile about in this series. Even some familiar faces like Mel Brooks and Danny DeVito do not uplift the level of the series. Basically what the show does is going back and forth through history, but there is no real storyline, no connection to the characters and, most important, it is never funny. What a shame and insult to Mel Brooks' career. A total disappointment.

Early comic appearance by Charlie Sheen
9 August 2009
I remember seeing this featurette when the movie was just released in the cinema. Charlie Sheen did a good work making some kind of a spoof appearance here. He makes a spoof of himself. I had just seen before in the cinema "The Naked Gun" and liked it very much. His appearance here reminded me of the atmosphere in that film. I don't know of course, but it might be that because of his appearance in this featurette he was asked for the lead in "Hot Shots", because he showed that he really had talent for this kind of acting. When I see a DVD for sale of the Rookie I always look on the back if this is part of the extra's, but it so far never was. As soon as they put this featurette on the DVD with the extra's, I will buy the DVD immediately. I hope they someday will.
