Made in Heaven (2019)
Best Indian show yet
It's not everyday that you are treated to shows executed with such finnesse from an Indian production. I had no expectations from Amazon to put up a great show and from the trailers I wasn't very hyped. Then I watched episode 1 and I couldn't turn back. Watched all episodes in a single sitting and I was blown away by the show. From a production standpoint this is top notch quality and from a writing and emotional aspect the show shines.
What you get here is not just a look into how weddings take place but the drama and reality behind it. I applaud the team for focusing so much on the weddings. Each wedding is the main backdrop for each episode and this narrative is wonderful. The actors have done amazingly well and I can't criticize a single actor for their work here. The show will make you cry, laugh, smile and overwhelmed with joy because of the actors and the way they have portrayed their characters.
One amazing point about the show is the casting. No actor feels like a an out of place star playing a character that he or she can't resonate with. It's so grounded in reality and made so darn well, all I can say is I am waiting for season 2 to show me more from this amazing team.
Max Payne 3 (2012)
Yes he is back!!!!!
After a long wait the gaming mascot of action games has returned. Picking up the franchise from game developers Remedy, A Rockstar studios collaboration puts out just what old fans have expected from a Max Payne game. Fresh and improvising upon the existing game this is indeed the king of third person action games. Splitting the review into 2 parts as I choose to review games based on the immersion and indeed game play.
Story- A good effort put out by the Rockstar team. Exactly what you would expect from the typical Dan Houser style of writing video game scripts. Max is cynical and the story can take you to certain points where feel he is a little too depressed but then again this is Max Payne. Putting the player in his shoes psychologically is what Rockstar does and it does a good job at that. A good story line that is not bad at all.
The game- Graphically great tagged with great game play that does not get old and fantastic sound shows the overflowing quality of this product in the single player campaign. The added cover system is only a small getaway from the frantic firefights. Its all about keeping the flow and maintaining a good and perfect improvisation for each situation. Just remember control of Max is smooth and once this clicks with the gamer the game begins to shine. A decently lengthy campaign that is well done and will keep you coming back for a few more spins on varying difficulties. The tech used to make the game is good so the enemies don't really do the same things on each play through. Apart from this the variety of levels is beautiful and something only you can expect Rockstar to pull off. Multi-player has not been a category i ventured into much but it is definite to keep you playing over and over again for a good time. Rockstar has done a great job here.
Faults- The lack of dead-man walking. Seriously Rockstar should have considered this mode which throws unlimited enemies to the player. Minor glitches even in the single player version. The almost cut scenes which cant be skipped mostly can be an irritation for the player as you just want to get into the game ASAP at least on second and third play through. A small free roaming environment similar to the Rockstar's game the Warriors would have been a good idea too.
Conclusion- a great game.good value for a game that is released these days. Meaty with single and multi player content that is overflowing with quality. A must buy for third person and action game fans.
Splinter Cell: Conviction (2010)
Fresh and frustrating but fun!!!
Its all over the internet any gaming forum or anything you have heard of this title is flooded with comments saying 'splinter cell same no more'. Well as a fan i too will agree to this but fans must accept reality and this is the final package that is available in our hands. You want to play splinter cell this is your only option. Starting off with my review i would not give away any spoilers. I will just leave it at the story is interesting. However i can tell you this the entire story is played like one giant mission. It takes place in a 3 day period and it is narrated beautifully just as how Morgan freeman narrates "The Shaw shank redemption", intense and kept alive to know what the hell is actually going on. In terms of game play a lot has changed. No more meters for sound and light. Yup you just hope for the screen to turn into a black and white sketch to know if you are visible or not. The minute any light is shined upon you the screen reverts to color. An amazing and trippy concept to be placed in games kudos to the person who gave in this idea but here lies the frustrating bit. for one its hard to know if the far off enemies are in a well lit spot or not. Also the color change is not perfect. Sudden color changes do happen and to me this was extremely frustrating. The mark and execute system is interesting and as self explanatory as it is it lets you take down enemies in a quick sharp style without even letting the enemies around knowing. Major game play disappointing features are the inability to lift bodies and hide them and the lack of a sensitivity option. Also Rambo fans will be disappointed trying to run and gun just wont work, at least until the fix the sensitivity issue. Next up the sound department. Ill just tell you this. I wish i could personally handshake everyone in this department and the music department as this is the first game i have enjoyed the concept of sound in my almost 11 years of gaming. Its simply amazing and top notch. You actually tend to feel you are in charge of the music. The only way i can explain this without telling you to play the game is by imagining a nice slow ballad which is played when you are in the shadows safely hidden. The minute an NPC (non playable character) appears close to you the same ballad gets added layers of music which results in a super high octane tune which again goes away when Sam is hidden in the shadows. phew!!!...Sam fisher voiced by Michael Ironside still rocks but i got so lost in the music i forgot he even talks during the game. Lol. Closing comments would probably be do get this game as this is the only package of Sam Fisher you will ever get. The multilayer is amazing although I haven played much of it I can tell you it does have its own story. So there you have my review of conviction. The change well not perfect is still something i have embraced and enjoyed. If only ubisoft had though of putting in some of the old missions from previous Splinter cells again as a bonus i would have loved it. And those of you who say the game is lost its stealth values do try to finish a mission without being alerted even once. That is surely a challenge. Please return with a sequel soon and not another 5 years.
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
how i met a great show
Indeed my title will give away the theme of this review. It is a positive one but that does not mean the show does not have it's fair share of problems. As a viewer who has watched all episodes up to date I personally feel the creators ,Bays and Thomas deserve a special mention to this show. The editing, plot and the general format of the story line is pure brilliance. The follow up to every scene turns out to be just the opposite and in this way the term clichéd never hits the show, and as a viewer you will find yourself laughing throughout. Personally almost every moment just before the title song kicks in post season 2 is a true laugh out loud moment.Next up is the direction of the show. Since the show is always narrated each episode can be about a random event that occurred during the characters lives. This way a lot of issues are addressed which are great but sometimes the plot gets a little too out of hand and here comes the negative aspect of the show. Some episodes are total genius and the best ever to have aired on television ad some are downright horrible which make's you think why on earth are you even watching this. Fans of the show will definitely agree with me when i say the overall quality has been deteriorating and since season 5 episodes keep falling down. I hope this gets fixed soon and lastly bring in the mother already. We still haven seen the mother(except her foot) which is annoying. The characters are amazing. Not something that can be written to explain but something that has to be watched in order to get an idea of the genius and creative ideas behind the makers of this show. Lastly i must say watch this show with an open mind. I strongly believe the makers are drawing a finer line between real life and a cartoon which in my opinion is awesome. give it a shot you will not be disappointed. I am giving this show a rating of 8 instead of a 9 simply because of the drag in season 5.
Avatar (2009)
OHHHHHHHHHH Jamesssssssss!!!!
Well i just happened to see the screening of avatar as i work with movies. We happened to get avatar and I must say the movie delivers...Not just on an aspect of story telling and intense moments but on pure entertainment and visual bliss. I am not much into Hollywood movies but for James Cameron I will make the exception of writing this review. It is just what the doctor ordered for this year of pathetic Hollywood movies. I just cant wait to watch it in 3D the following weekend but James Cameron still hasn't lost his masterful touch. Its great to see how the movie turns out to be so great and the way in which the plot turns.I wont give away anything and the plot is pretty much explained in the previews that you would have definitely seen. Just remember the cgi is brilliant and Cameron yet again has given us a glimpse of tomorrow today.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (2009)
fresh and different
I am actually confused to give this game a rating of 8. I think that would make my review underrated. So i start the game again on the psp have a quick gaming session and return to the review. Yes Chinatown wars is on the psp and after playing on the ds i still found enough reason to get back to it. Forget the fact that I have played it in the past. Here the review is based totally on the psp title. The game has improved textures and draw distance over the time they shifted it to the psp and this is great as it has a fresh and shiny finish to it. So in a way it is really great and if you have a psp and you are not playing this game this would be a crime that will get you 2 stars. Lol. Coming to the story and other issues it is a terrible let down. The characters are pathetic and the only interesting element is the dialogues. Some are funny but they get washed out in the process. Its a bunch of weird characters that are all living a life filled with crime. Not to mention plot twists that are around every corner. I do not want to ruin the story either but it is not something that is great. One last flaw is the mini game transition. It suited the ds but not the psp. On the whole the game is an amazing pass time and the inclusion of multiplayer adds to it. This review is made only if you are doubting the minds of the great rockstar games. This is still an outstanding achievement and my review has barely scratched the surface. Try it.I am sure you will love it.
P.S-Other user reviews compare this game to gta4. I mean are you serious? Please don't..
The Dark Knight (2008)
wow!!!
Watching batman begins was really interesting and now after watching the dark knight on blue ray something struck me. I had to express my opinion on this film and yes here i am finally on IMDb writing my first review. The dark knight is a masterpiece and quality creative film making all bundled together with amazing performances and life like subtlety that makes the batman universe adapt itself beautifully onto the big screen. Director Christopher Nolan really knows what to do and maturity in film making is vividly described in this movie from the way the scenes progress to the tension in dialogs. The movie is just what other superhero movie directors need to portray whilst making a superhero action movie. Well I am not saying that other superhero movies are bad but when compared to the creativity portrayed in the Dark knight, wow other movies better stand back as the Gotham knight nails every other movie made ever. If you haven't watched it before well its time to dig up a hole in the ground and rather stay there buried as you always have but if you have watched it I am sure people will agree with me when I say roll on 2011 and bring out the sequel to this masterpiece.
