Samaritan (2022)
Hate all you want.
Sly knocked it out of the park and not just acting. He brought an early 90's feel and look to this movie and only people who grew up through the 80's and 90's are going to really appreciate the details that went into that.
The movie was perfectly cast. Sam looks and acts like River Phoenix in Stand by Me. Cyrus looks and acts like Keifer Sutherland from Lost Boys.
The CGI missed a little but it's not a Disney/Marvel movie backed by an endless budget. The story was solid. It was a little predictable but the character is original. Zero wokeness in this film. It's truly a new comic thrust onto the big screen.
I doubt there will be a sequel because the movie made it's point and that's okay.
Bravo Sly. You gave us a fresh story and at the same time managed to wink and nod throughout to your fans that grew up tearing up red t-shirts to wear on our heads. Yo Adrienne...you did it...again.
The Batman (2022)
Creative and Absolutely Ridiculous
First let's get it out of the way. Pattinson did okay. I'll put him in front of Clooney and Kilmer but that's as far as I'm willing to go. Over the top performance but it's a super hero movie so I guess it's fine?
Next, let's run down the villains.
The Riddler: Fantastic. Loved the whole interpretation
The Penguin: a little too Dick Tracy
The Joker: the worst I've ever seen and I completely understand why the scene was deleted. Yes I'm including Jared Leto. The rubber nose and horrible makeup were bad enough and then add in the really awful Brooklyn accent...HARD F'N PASS
The Story was fine. The time it took to tell it was necessary but so much focus on making Batman intimidating without him really ever becoming intimidating. They spent almost 3 hours making Batman "vengeance" only to turn around and have him realize he wasn't? The whole movie was intended to be dark and then at the end it's supposed to have this light hearted take? GTFO. The scene with the riddler and the joker should have never happened. If you're trying that late in the movie to spark interest in a sequel, you aren't putting enough faith in the movie you just made. Let this die here DC. This doesn't deserve a sequel. Batman can be better and you already have a better Joker. Just think about that for a second.

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
The hate is just comical now
This was an ending to a great STORY that's been going on for 42 years. It's closure for a lot of us not so new fans. We're ready to move on now. The first two films in this saga were a complete disaster. JJ salvaged what he could and with that comment, I'll also say that the movie flowed just fine. There's always going to be things you can question and analyze in these movies. That's how they have survived for as long as they have. That being said. At least some things were answered in this movie as opposed to the 2 prior films in which NOTHING WAS ANSWERED. You cannot string people along and give them nothing for 6 years. Most importantly. This movie felt like a Star Wars movie. Yes, that's a thing. It's a franchise. Sorry new fans. If you can't get over that fact, then you should put your stock elsewhere.
The Holzer Files (2019)
Loosen Up Guys. You got a hit!
First of all I want to say that the people who reviewed this show after 1 or 2 episodes, have seriously undercut it. The amount of work/though that has very apparently gone into this show is astonishing. The on-site investigation seems the be the easiest part and that's the way it should be. These guys are really digging into the history of these cases and looking at things from different angles. Dave enunciates because he's got a radio voice. That's bad? The one thing I do have an issue with is the over production part. The beginning back and forth roundtable into meeting needs to be more loose and less scripted. It sets the tone for the whole show and that's misleading people. Dave, your narrating in between segments is terrific. Just change that initial tone at the beginning. Maybe bring in Shane and Cindy for it. Shane is getting more relaxed. He's gonna bring you that "Goodwin" element that's really important. Loosen up big guy.
Child's Play (2019)
Really?
These positive reviews have to be fake or else horror movies have hit an all-time low. They removed the one element that made Chucky terrifying (black magic). You can't explain that element and that's the main ingredient to a horror movie. The unknown and the inexplicable. This movie deserves a 1/10 for the toy drone attack deaths alone. What an absolute joke.
Ghost Adventures (2008)
It's a good "show"!
Let's get this out of they way. For the people basing a television show (that's purely for harmless entertainment by the way) on whether some, most or all of it is fake...PLEASE GET A LIFE. It's entertaining! It's very well done and it pulls you in. For those of us that have been there since the beginning; sure it was sad watching Nick's departure and the way the whole show evolved and changed after it, but it has stayed true to itself in many ways (thank god for Aaron). The emergence of Jay and Billy hasn't been all that bad either. We have all watched Zak's ego grow, but the guy has worked incredibly hard. So what if he goes a little over the top sometimes? It's his livelihood. He's allowed. The pressure that comes from network execs that clearly stick their noses where they don't belong has got to be infuriating. Some of us get it Zak. Just lighten up a little more often big guy. The show has changed big time from the words "with no big camera crews following us around" have been uttered in the opening. But, it's the same guys (for the most part). They give us the nostalgia when they can. You have to remember, there's now two generations of fans here now. They have to cater to both. I think they do an excellent job of it too. As for validity of evidence and/or credibility of those involved...well...they've made their mistakes over the years. Which of course really takes something away from the kid inside of us but, I feel like I know these guys, and that makes them a little more believable for me. Please stop basing reviews off of total non acceptance of the paranormal. It's really pathetic. People believe what they want to believe about the afterlife. If these guys can present "evidence" and be entertaining about it...IT'S A GOOD "SHOW"!
