Taboo: Episode #1.8 (2017)
A thrill ride from start to finish
The ending was superb!
Fast paced, it made your hearth race leaving you speechless at the end. I can't recommend it enough.
**(Spoiler)**
I loved the bit where Delaney asked Dumbarton for a pen to sign the document passing ownership of Nootka Sound, and then hit his head in the table. It felt like a tribute to Nolan's Joker in the Dark Knight. After all Tom Hardy was Bane in that franchise!
The Walking Dead: Too Far Gone (2013)
Wow! Where to begin..
This was such a grand episode redeeming the show for any of last seasons downfall! And overall season 5 is amazing with this escalation in every week to the climax that is "Too Far Gone".
Magnificent plot twisting with some minor flaws, but not to get nip picking it was a true pleasure!
The whole Governor resolution, which was built in the past episode, was a delight to see. With these deep sense implying scenes like the muddy hug I felt true joy.Because the audience knows the girl is not making him dirty, on the opposite she is only only thing cleansing his soul whereas he is blackening hers.
Again the Governor moves and acts just like an virus- corrupting every society with his psychopathic aura of destruction. It's either his way or "I'll stab you in the back" way.Like a junkie hungry for power his abstinence can be felt by everyone. And something as innocent as suggesting the possibility, for being part of the leadership in the group, is enough to bring his old demon self.Running away was never an option and deep down he knew that.Even in the beginning it's his fellow people who have left him painfully lonely roaming the roads retrospecting on his deeds. But he is a beast among men and people are his catalyst.Without them he is a wreck waiting to go down.Trying to be a part of a family works as far as he is bind only with the loved ones.Becoming part of functional society the old self starts slowly to take over recognizing there is no other way for surviving except the one he is on.And thus the power hunger starts slowly to disintegrate everything he had built emotionally. Sweet talker like him with no delay will get the crown corrupting the heart of the strong willed men, helping him maintain leadership amongst obedient followers. These pawns are made to except the kidnapping and even embrace the following consequences and results of his deeds.
Reaching the prison is such a suspenseful moment you are practically glued to the monitor/TV.Governor being the main authority on the one side, and having his hostages giving him even more leverage against the man his exact opposite character being Rick. The man he despites for everything he is and making "Brian" look at his self for everything he is not. Being on the side of people Rick stood his grounds, trying to bring peace and reason to everyone. The look Hershel gave him was unbelievable! It was "Everyone has a job to do.Do what you must!".And so he does.Spilling his soul out, reaching from his far corners of grace, giving true and optimal solution which reason obliges fully!Giving half of what they go, so all can live decently.Making this moment of such hope for the brighter future, that can inflame the hearts of all man with such.
But this is something impossible for the Governor to believe. For him the world is a place which rotates only by the hunger for power, and none such sharing is possible.A man who can see in the people only images of his delusional mind.Making his loved ones a copy of the family he lost, looking at the people below him as pawns and seeing only his self in other leaders not able to comprehend other ways of achieving leadership. And that's why he gasped "Liar". Because if he had believed or even accepted the proposal of Rick, that would have shattered his life.Everything he is living by, wouldn't let him agree with this.By killing Hershel his power hunger threw him into frenzy, completely dissolving everything he was standing for.And making sure he finished him is spot where the demon had absolutely taken over him, overcoming every barrier he had left.Even the site of the his new adopted daughter being dead could not make him stop, overthink or even feel any sadness or remorse. It only fed the demon making him lose all boundaries.
And some may think the true face of the Governor was the kind, loving, family guy type. For me this was never the case. This is a part of him but part far gone and lost, only to be reborn when left on itself, to bare the consequences.
And maybe only in his death he could finally rest, not being driven by this black, demonic force in him, hungry, for the sweet sensation that only power gives in your veins.
