Brother Bear (2003)
save your money and time
Here is another low quality movie from the "Disney" company. There is no more Disney spirit. The story is boring. All emotions are fake. It is not cute or moving. Disney company was at a time a sort of magic company which provided dreams for children. It is now all about making money. Shame on the people who exploit Disney name for their personal benefit. It is the fall of an empire. And, by the way, Pixar is NOT Disney !
Rendez-vous au tas de sable (1990)
Terrific
This movie is a wonderfull master piece by one of the greatest french humorist writer Richard Gotainer. The film had no succes unfortunatly but history will teach that it doesn't mean anything. It has hilarious dialogs and a memorable rock duel. But i am afraid non french talking can apreciate this movie.
The Thief and the Cobbler (1993)
shame on Miramax
Richard williams started this ambitious animated film way back in 1968. Working with him were some of the original Disney animators such as Art Babbit and Grim Natwick as well as Ken Harris and Emery Hawkins from Warners. The film was originally self financed by Williams with money coming in from his animated commercials. After winning an academy award for Roger Rabbit he got the film financed externally so it could be completed. This turned out to be a bad decision because after going over budget the investors got nervous and pulled the film from him, having it completed by someone else. The film had about 10 to 15 min left to complete when it was taken out of Williams hands. Instead of just completing the film, the person in charge of the completion decided to re-work the film to make it more "mainstream". He replaced much of the original scenes with song segments and farmed out the animation . The resulting film was released in a few different edits. On called "The Princess and the Cobbler" in Australia and one called "Arabian Knight" in the US by Miramax. The Miramax version is much worse because they added constant narration and voices to characters who were intended to be silent. After Disney purchased Miramax, it's version ended up on home video under the original title "The Thief and the Cobbler".
Richard Williams "Work Print" which is the work in progress version is the only way we can tell what this film could have been. It has not been released, but can be found as a bootleg.
Certains l'aiment... froide (1960)
It could have been a great movie if only...
A French comedy of the Fifties. it is charming but is also kind of unbearable. Humour mild nutter and grimaçant is too much pushed and ends up weighing down this film which could have remained in the memories notament by its distribution: De Funès in full form and irresistible, Noël Roquevert is great as usual but seems lost in this bouffonery, Jean Richard grimace much but remains funny contrary to Francis Blanche who is let in full freedom and makes too too much .

L'homme qui plantait des arbres (1987)
masterpiece
It is the ultimate masterpiece ever created in animation film making. Made by one simple man, Frederic Back who never reached this top since. I wish everybody could see it. The world would probably be a better place to live.
