Pleasant Surprise
3 May 2010
I knew nothing about this movie before watching it but within minutes I was hooked.

Brittany Murphy tugged at my heart's strings as she portrayed a girl who is left alone in Tokyo trying to find a purpose or reason to go on.

This movie does very well even though the Ramen Girl (Abby) doesn't understand what anyone is saying at first. You quickly pull for her to succeed in the battle of translation.

The Culture clash is entertaining and hilarious at times. The only downside I have (Don't worry, this isn't a spoiler) is just that I wished the ending would have been slightly different. Either way, I'm glad to have this pleasant surprise in movie collection.

If you have always wanted to visit Japan, or have any interest in Japanese culture, this will certainly tickle your fancy.

Hope you enjoy.

An Average Comedy
3 May 2010
I would have given this movie a higher score if kept me laughing throughout the whole film. Don't misunderstand, there are HILARIOUS parts in this movie but as a whole, it deserves an average.

Will Arnet is amazing at being awkwardly hysterical, and I feel he really did his part. Will Forte though just didn't hold up his part of the deal I'm afraid.

One thing I thought was funny was how they are such horrible drivers, they may have hit five cars or so swerving around traffic and nobody said a thing about it. Something subtle like that really makes me laugh.

I must say though, the opening credits were the highlight of this movie. My sides were aching before the movie even started...but the rest of the movie just funny, not side splitting.

Worth a watch for sure

Change of pace from watered down American Horror
3 May 2010
I really took a chance with this film, knowing nothing about it I bought it for two dollars because it sounded interesting.

From watching the Tomie series, I knew I was in for something dark and sinister; thats just what I got.

The main character who enjoys the taste of women's flesh is appalling as it is exciting. As horrible as it may sound, i must say that I didn't want him to get caught for some reason. He is literally killing women and eating them, but he's so cool and collected throughout.

If you're tired of main stream American horror films that are watered down and filtered out, then this movie is for you.
