The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Persephone line change? SPOILER
SPOILER line quote below:
Is it me??
All these years and i have watched the Matrix Trilogy more times than I can count
Wasn't Persephone's line: "I envy you, for such a thing, as that man's lust."
Streaming it now on HBO Max, I hear,. "I envy you, but such a thing, is not meant to last"
The Strange Ones (2017)
anticlimactic and predictable
Another one of those movies i wish i would've never seen
Chicago Med (2015)
this is a lazy show w/ so much untapped potential
This show has potential but the actors are generic and wooden and the writing is horribly lazy. they took a BUNCH of pretty people put them together on a hospital set and they must think the hard part is OVER???? They don't teach them how to pronounce the medical jargon in their lines...dude said metoclopramide and i had to repeat it back to myself like wtf did he just say? and the one doctor said, a "NORMAL liter of Saline"...dude, if you don't even KNOW what you're saying, evidently the WRITERS don't even know what the HELL they're writing.. they had a dude overdosed on digoxin and had him running on a TREADMILL????
ALL this could be forgiven if their was atleast character development. but even THAT'S lazy.
superstar head nurse has cancer...omg, never saw that coming
THE TWO HOTTEST people on the show, just happen to also be the only two people of color that are dating. should be interesting and cool because one is black and one is asian but--they have ZERO CHEMISTRY
they focus more on the gore than the science
the characters are only interesting/intriguing during the crossovers w/ Fire &/or PD
so much potential. even the plots of the shows...so much potential...just ALL FALLS FLAT. DISAPPOINTING being part of the Chicago line up. it's had multiple seasons to get better. i think they need new writers.
Black and Blue (2019)
Black and Blue is about Right and Wrong...NOT black&white NOT BLM
Trolls that are saying this is "antii-cop or "BLM" propaganda are LYING and HAVE NOT seen this movie. DO NOT let them manipulate you into not going to see this movie.
It is NOT about black people good AND INNOCENT, white cops bad and all corrupt. that's not even the plot nor the premise nor the POINT of the movie.
Begin Spoiler....
The movie is about being out numbered and having the courage to persevere when all odds and the whole world are against you, to stand up for what is RIGHT in a cultural climate that seemingly allows what is fundamentally WRONG to dominate and rule.
....End spoiler
BE THE CHANGE
Take the challenge.
Go see it for yourself..
and Enjoy
Don't Let Go (2019)
I wanted to see it twice
--a little spoilerish---I've lost family members and have had dreams where they've called&/or reached out to me in distress and I've awakened haunted by those dreams having to talk or out and pray about them to become resolute that they were just dreams because I miss those that have gone on...I LOVED this movie for taking the premise of longing for a deceased love one and exploring the alternate possibilities of "what if it could be so..." It is a gripping thrill ride and endearing also because as an aunt I can relate to being the solace for my brother's child as he and his significant other navigate life as perpetual screw ups. After it was over, I wanted to see it again. I cannot wait for this movie to be released. Highly recommended.
Paranormal Activity (2007)
Blair Witch meets the Exorcist -NOT!!!
This movie was O.K. The hype is way over done. If you've seen The Blair Witch Project, you've seen this movie. The hype gets you into the theater. It's all pretty mundane from there. It may be cool for the up and coming generation, those 16-18 year olds that were too young back in the day to give a rats arse about The Blair Witch Project. But for you late twenties/early thirty somethings...be prepared to yawn and occasionally chuckle at the absurdity of it all. It's NOT scary. Some of the thumps and bumps may startle you a little. Character reactions are completely predictable -hence the comedy. And the ending...Big DUH! moment. Worth seeing if you're bored, or young. But seriously, lower your expectations. CLOVERFIELD WAS MORE STIMULATING
Push (2009)
Entertaining Enough
This movie was not so bad. It was entertaining enough. If you're bored and got nothing to do and just wanna catch a flick and you have no expectations then go see this movie. Heck, go see it for the eye-candy because Chris Evans and (Kimora Lee's Man) are worth the nine bucks any day of the week.
The special effects were cool. You get sucked in by the characters and even though they're kind of flat, you care about them and you find yourself rooting for them. The villains seem to have a more mysterious depth to them... but be forewarned, this is not a mind blowing blockbuster. However to it's defense, it's not a run-of-the-mill Sci-Fi Channel flick either.
Put it like this, I love Jason Behr but this movie runs circles around D-WaR --nothing gets that disappointing.
At any rate I think this movie has an Asian-action film feel to it. Which is why some people may be caught off guard by it. I say, screw the critics, go see it with a clean slate and an open mind and decide for yourself. I've seen worse.
I caught this movie on the fly yesterday, just surfing the net and then I remembered, "oh yeah, I liked that trailer, I wanted to see that movie." I got to the show in 10 minutes the movie started in 60 seconds and I settled in for 90 minutes of mindless adventure that I could catch on the fly again.
Put it like this, This is gonna be a very good Saturday afternoon TV movie...like The Goonies or 3 O'clock High. It has the makings of being a great "eighties" genre -type classic. I'd give it a C+/B-
Crash (2004)
I saw it, I loved it, I recommend it. But not for the weak minded
This is an excellent film. All star cast. You'll recognize every single face of every single actor/actress in the movie. To me the best thing about this film is that metaphorically speaking it's practically a true story in the sense that everyone has experienced some simulate of the happenings and going ons in the film. I love how it takes you full circle. Also none of the actors out shine each other. It's a character driven film that tells a story. And it gives you the opportunity to love&hate detest and empathize with ea. individual character equally.
Some strong advice would be to be aware of yourself and your personal feelings about our American society and your inward feelings regarding diversity of it's inhabitants BEFORE you see the film. And to be prepared for the inevitable because...Tagline: You may think you know who you are. But for real, you have no idea.
I would recommend that EVERYONE go and see this film. It's definitely a must see.
Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003)
Girl with a Pearl Earring
I watched this movie because #1 as a fan of Cillian Murphy's I try to track and watch all of his movies. This movie was cool. I caught it's synopsis as a spoiler then I watched it OnDemand. Cillian did a great job and the chemistry he had with Scarlett was breath taking. I'd recommend this movie to people who are patient enough and mature enough to let it play itself out. I really liked this movie. After seeing Lost in Translation I have grown very fond of Scarlett Johannsen (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) and was not let down in the least with her performance.
With all the chaos and drama that supposedly surrounded this film behind the scenes,I must say they pulled it off. In my heart I believe this second string of cast members did a justice for the movie that the first choice actors couldn't have touched.
I give it a 7 out of 10. I just wish there were more romantic scenes between Greit and Pieter...but then that probably would've interfered with the nuance of it's appeal and original premise
