Special Unit 2: The Love (2002)
Laughter is the Best Medicine
Although I only recently discovered this series, I have found it to be a great source of laughter in these days of such discontent. This episode, "The Love", is the funniest one I've ever seen! I was crying from laughter it was so darn funny!!! I attribute this to the special guest star Willie Garson, playing Cupid, and the chemistry he had with Michael Landes (Nick), Alexondra Lee (Kate) and Danny Woodburn (Carl). There is also a very special performance by Michael Landes, as to not give a spoiler, suffice to say that his character goes thru some changes, and is hilarious! I'm stingy with my 10s, for both TV and Movies, but I've got to give this one a 10 outa 10.
The Riches: Pilot (2007)
Finally, something to replace the void left by Six Feet Under!
Wow, I'm so excited! The pilot aired tonight and it was fantastic. Since I'd only seen the previews very recently, I wasn't sure of the plot and didn't have much time to build any anticipation over the content. But seeing that Eddie Izzard was playing the lead, I knew that I HAD to check it out. So glad I did, and thankful that considering the lack of pre-show advertising, I didn't miss it altogether.
I don't think it would be a spoiler to say that the premise is based on a gypsy family (travelers) that decide to make an effort to "go straight" and live the "american dream" by seizing an opportunity that presents itself without warning. Like Six Feet Under, the show's content is comprised of many genre's (drama, comedy, adventure, sarcasm, etc). It has exquisite casting with great chemistry, and enough quirkiness to keep you guessing.
If you've been missing the quality and uniqueness of entertainment that SFU provided, you should not be disappointed in this new series.
Inhumanoid (1996)
I LOVE Richard Grieco, BUT...........
I blame the failure of this movie on the writing and direction of Victoria Muspratt. I don't know this woman personally, but unfortunately I have to say this script was unbelievably bad. I saw her first writing credit, "House of the Damned", but don't remember having such a bad opinion on the story. I watched it because of Greg Evigan, who I also like a lot. The acting in this movie was NOT that bad. If you think seriously about Richard's character, I think he portrayed the emotions quite well. Seems to me that everyone gave the performance asked of them & fit their characters appropriately. I can see that Ms Muspratt dropped off the radar in 2000. I hope that means she has found a better talent to make a living.
