Revelation (1999)
Amazing!
It's a shame that this movie series had a not-so-good first movie with Apocalypse. It was an OK start, but compared to this movie, this was a huge upgrade! It felt like an actual movie, the editing was great, the actors were a lot better and on top of all that, Leigh Lewis returns and delivers a superb performance. Highly recommend this movie to everyone looking for a good movie and this is a great film showing what's to come! Trust me, you don't want to be here when this happens!
Frozen II (2019)
Amazing Movie and Possible Future
Disney has done it again and this is probably one of their best this year. If you love Disney or Frozen, then you will love this movie.
Storyline - The best improvement over the original as there are callbacks to the first movies, including a jab at Let It Go and our reactions to it. This was more Elsa's story as well, as we found out why she was born with powers. The story even debunks the Tarzan theory, revealing the heartbreaking fate about the parents. Anna receiving her powers was debunked, Olaf getting a girlfriend, Elsa getting a girlfriend or love interest, and there was no surprise villain. A lot of these were rumors and theories, but there is still a possibility of them happening.
Music - The songs weren't as good as the first, but I love the music, especially 'Into the Unknown', 'All is Found', and 'Show Yourself'. Show Yourself feels more the new Let It Go, and the scene is so beautiful and emotional. I wasn't expecting the scene like that, but boy, the scene sent shivers down my spine.
Animation - Just like the first movie, the animation was gorgeous, from the reflections of the eyes and the environment, to the details in the hair and environment, everything was perfect.
Tone - The tone was perfect for a movie of this scale. I hate it when it animated movies are too kiddie like. There needs to be more emotion and darker themes in them, especially with villains. Villains are dark and making them kiddie like would lose their effectiveness.
Voice Acting - Everyone did a great job, from Idina, to Kristen, to Josh, even Jonathan and Evan did a great job. The one that did the best in my opinion was Idina Menzel. She put so much emotion into her singing that it made Elsa stand out more. I can't really see anyone else do the voice of Elsa, as I'll imagine Idina voicing her. Kristan Bell was phenomenal and gave Anna more depth. Her song, 'The Next Right Thing' was the best I heard Kristen sing. She puts so much emotions into that song, that it make anyone tear up with her. Josh Gad is of course funny as the adorable Olaf. He steals every scene he's in. Evan Rachel Wood was great as Iduna, wish we saw more of her, but what she had to work with was amazing. Love Alfred Molina, but kinda wished they kept the same voice actor, but oh well.
Future - Frozen 3 may happen and if it does, it most likely complete the story of Anna and Elsa. This movie left the door open for a sequel. If it does happen, I'm hoping this has the same tone as this one
If you haven't seen Frozen II, go see it... it's a better sequel and honors the first movie. Definitely worth a second watch.
The Grace Card (2010)
Best Christian Movie I have ever seen!
Now, I have seen a lot of Christian movies and not many of them had actually brought me to tears than this one did. This is truly a moving movie, that many people can actually relate to, especially if you lost someone and blamed it on God. I highly recommend viewing this movie and see what you can get out of it. The movie was truly beautiful from the start and how it portrayed tragedy was heartbreaking, especially the last part of the film.
The movie stars the amazing Lou Gosset Jr, but the real star of the movie is the Preacher, played by Michael Higgenbottom. His character was amazing and was really adorable in some of his earlier scenes. But his character has some of the best moments as you reach the middle of the movie, struggling with his emotions as he tries to deal and help with Bill McDonald played by Michael Joiner.
Michael Joiner's Bill McDonald is the most relatable character in the movie, as many of us has been like him before. Grieving over the loss of a loved one or just be nasty to everyone we talk to. His story is not only tragic, but also tear jerking, especially the last half of the movie, when he reveals what he is truly feeling. The way the movie ends is how ALL of us should treat one another, with love and respect, but also be forgiving of those who has cause us pain and heartbreak.
My one advice for you, just watch the movie, don't let the Christian themes scare you away. In my opinion, when movies have Christian themes like this one, it's bound to be a great movie, and they are the better choices for movies. This movie should viewed by everyone, as it will touch your heart and even pull your heartstrings a bit.
Now the music in this movie was perfectly done. The songs in this movie was amazing, and they really reflected the tone and the emotions the characters were feeling. If there was one thing that this movie wins, is with the songs they used in this movie.
Now, my overall view of the movie is this, this is by far the best Christian movie I have ever seen. It ranks all the way up there with amazing Christian movies like God's Not Dead and Do You Believe? All great movies with heart touching stories. But be careful when showing this to kids, as the themes of this movie could sadden them or scare them. It is best to show this to kids who are ages 10 or older, as they could handle the themes.
Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
Great take on the Biblical story
Hello ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to review the 2014 Biblical movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings. After the failure that was Noah, I was worried that this movie would follow the same path as Noah took. I was very glad, that I was wrong. Exodus was not just a good Biblical movie, but also a good take from Hollywood. Now this is also based on my Christian faith, so I will try not to reveal a lot of spoilers but do be warned.
One, the story was amazing... the begins with the Egyptians going into battle with the Hittites. Then we see the land of Egypt and Moses learning of his heritage. The movie clearly follows the story of Moses, but presents us a different version, a realistic take on the story. If you are familiar with the story, then you should be able to see the story in the movie. So, main question... is the completely accurate to the Bible... the answer is, sadly no, but it is more Biblical than Noah in every way possible. The Battle with the Hittites is clearly added to make the story epic or in my view, a way to show Egypt going into battle. Another addition is Moses attacking the Egyptians to force Ramses to let the Hebrews go. That part was not in the Bible, same goes with the battle of the Hittites. Another scene I did not like much was the scene when the waters of Egypt turn to blood... I find that part to be completely unrealistic, as if it was crocodiles that help turned the waters to blood, then there needs to be a lot more people shown being eaten by the crocodiles, making the scene more realistic. How it was shown didn't bring any justice to the movie, but believe me, this movie is worth watching.
Second, the cast was outstanding. Christian Bale did a fantastic job as Moses. It ain't no easy job playing Moses, so we all should give Christian a break, as he did fantastic and made this Moses just as lovable as the Biblical Moses. Joel Edgerton was also amazing as Ramses. Ben Kingsley did a great job as Nun, but I do feel that some of the bigger characters like Joshua and Aaron deserved more of a part in the film, but the actors that played them did a good job as them. I also feel that people should have worried about the Biblical accuracy rather than race of the characters. In my view, as long as they played the characters good, it doesn't matter what race they are. To me, anyone can be a good actor, it just takes time and lots of work, and everyone in this movie has earned that.
So how accurate is this movie to the Biblical story... well, here is my valuation. There is some major changes to the story such as how the Red Sea was split and the prior changes I mentioned. Overall, I give this movie a Biblical Accuracy of 75%, making this way better than the accuracy I gave Noah, which is a low 15%. My final thoughts on the movie are this, I was completely amazed by how Ridley portrayed the events. If there was a director that could make a good or descent movie about Noah, I would have preferred Ridley Scott over Darren Aronofsky... at least he respects the Bible more. Now for my final rating on the film... I give this 9 out of 10 stars. It would have been a solid 10 if it wasn't for the Biblical inaccuracies, but sadly, no movie is perfect. My advice to those who want to see this movie, please be sure to read the story as well, since there is some major differences between this and the story.
The Land Before Time (1988)
A Timeless Classic
Hello everyone and I'm here to review on the most most timeless classics of all time. The Land Before Time will always be a classic and there is so much to love in this movie, that even the characters are lovable. I'm going to go through why this movie rocks and will try to avoiding giving spoilers as best as I can.
Once you started playing the movie, you are met with great cartoon animation and great music. The music itself is pretty emotional, as it is done by the legendary James Horner. The movie focuses on Littlefoot, a Brontosaurus, who is traveling with his mother to find the legendary Great Valley. Then you meet Cera, a triceratop with an attitude. These two are actually the two of the main characters of the movie, as the rest of the main characters appear after the most heartbreaking scene in the whole movie, the death of Littlefoot's mother, who gave her life to defend him from a T-Rex, but they are called Sharp Tooths in this movie.
The acting in this movie is outstanding, as I say the one who did the the best job is none other than Judith Barsi, who voices the main character Ducky. It's also very sad that she was murdered the same year as this movie, 1988. But she leaves behind a great legacy and will always be remembered. The ones that did great in this movie was Gabriel Damon (Littlefoot), Candace Hutson (Cera), and Will Ryan (Petrie). This entire movie was well made and everyone put a lot of effort into making this movie the classic it is today. If they ever remade this movie, I hope they put in the same effort as everyone did for this movie.
Another thing that made this movie great is the music. I have to say that James Horner is one of the greats and his music to this is very emotional and can bring anyone who listens to it in tears, as it's very beautiful. The final song, If We Hold On Together is also very emotional and beautiful, sang by Diana Ross. I would always listen to the final song as it is one of my all time favorites next to My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. If there wasn't any music in this movie, it wouldn't have been a classic, as the music gave the story the emotions and brings the movie to new heights.
My final thoughts on the movie was this, I loved every minute of this and could watch this back to back, as it is one of the best movies of all time. If you love Dinosaurs, then this is for you. It is also a very good family film, but please be warned, the music is what makes this movie emotional. I would recommend this for kids age 5 or up, but to be honest, any age could watch this, but due to the emotional scenes and the music, age 5 would be the best age to watch this. Your kids will enjoy this movie and remember it for a long time. Overall, I give this 10 out of 10 stars. This is a must see and for an cartoon movie, this is the best so far. I would recommend this over the sequels, as this was the most powerful installment.
Alpha and Omega (2010)
Great movie
OK, here is my review to Alpha and Omega, one of my favorite movies. The first time I saw the trailer to this, I wanted to see this, and I;m glad I did. It was a really enjoyable movie. I liked the animation, I loved the actors, I loved the score to the movie, and even though the storyline was predictable, I like the storyline.
First off, the storyline... now I'm not picky about the storyline, as long as it is good, and this had a good storyline. A bit predictable but overall a good story. The main Omega wolf, Humphrey is a great representation of a normal guy who has a crush on the pretty girl, who happens to be Kate, the main Alpha wolf in the movie. Kate and Humphrey is my favorite couple when it comes to movies. They are perfect for each other and even though this movie left a lot of plot holes, the entire movie was great. Who cares f this doesn't show what an actually pack looks like. The directors did a good job making this movie, so cut them so slack, they may not had enough money to give us a Lion King movie or even a Rio movie, but who cares... they made a good movie and I'm happy with that.
Second, the actors... I loved every one of them. Justin Long, one of my favorite actors, was the perfect actor for Humphrey. He made me love him even more and Justin is the kind of actor that can make any character he does, lovable, so a round of applause for him. Hayden Panettiere, one of my favorite actresses and the perfect voice for Kate. It matches her perfectly and she brought Kate to life in more ways than ever. Kate Higgins who covers for Kate in the sequel does a good job but she is no Hayden... Hayden brought Kate to life. The same goes for Ben Diskin who covers for Humphrey in the sequel, he does a good job and sound just like Justin, but his performance was at least close to Justin. Then we have the sweet beautiful Christina Ricci as the shy beautiful Lilly. This right here is an perfect example of finding the perfect actress to provide the voice of a female character. Even though Lilly did not have as much screen time as Kate, Ricci made Lilly a very lovable character. Then we got Danny Glover as Winston and the legendary Dennis Hopper in his final movie as Tony. We also have Vicki Lewis who you may know from Finding Nemo as Deb/Flo and from the movie, Godzilla with Mathew Broderick. Lewis provides the voice of Eve who gives us a new look at the term overprotective.
Thirdly, the score is amazing and from a composer I never heard of until now, Chris Bacon. The music to this movie is outstanding and really adds to the emotions in this movie. My favorite is the Love Train track, in which Humphrey howls with Kate on a train... it's a beautiful howl and makes you want to love wolves. Any lover of animals will love this feature, especially wolf lovers like myself. If you love soundtracks, then listen to this, because the soundtrack is amazing.
Fourth, the animation... could be better but then again, seen a whole lot worse than this so we shouldn't complain here. Every movie will have their flaws, and to me, this is one of this movie's flaws. The animation could have been better but then again, the storyline could be better, too. The animators did a fantastic job on the main characters like Kate and Humphrey.
Advice to the makers, You guys did an amazing job on this movie. You made an enjoyable movie and great choices on the cast. You also did a good job on the storyline. But the storyline needs working on, you left many questions unanswered like what happened to Humphrey's parents? Where is Garth's mother? How did Humphrey and Kate meet? Were they friends since birth or did they accidentally meet somewhere before the beginning? So, if you were to make another movie, make sure that the storyline improves a bit. But overall, great job and I really enjoyed your movie.
Overall, I give this movie 10 out of 10 stars. Even though there are flaws in this movie and the storyline is a bit predictable, I really enjoyed this movie and liked the sequels. The sequels could be better but they could be so much worse. I highly suggest watching them if you enjoyed this movie. Any animated movie or animal lover should at least watch this movie. To me, it's worth it and a great movie for kids to watch but I suggest this movie to kids ages 8 or up. This movie has some themes that aren't appropriate for younger kids. If you feel your kids are comfortable for these themes, then they can watch it but I suggest only kids 8 or older to watch this.
Rio 2 (2014)
Excellent Sequel
This was my favorite out of the Rio franchise. I loved the first one, but loved this one even more. OK, first off, here are my thoughts on this delightful movie. It's just as good as the first one, so if you're a fan of Rio, then Rio 2 is perfect for you. From the very beginning of the movie, you can tell this is a Rio movie, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Another great thing about this movie is that it added a little light to Jewel's past. We all know that Jewel was separated from her parent in the first movie, but this, actually explained how it happened. Jewel is among my favorite characters, and I loved how it shedded some light on her past. If you're hoping for Blu's past to be revealed, then you're be disappointed, nothing was ever said about his past, just Jewel's. This movie is more focused on her being reunited with her family and Blu struggling to fit in.
Another thing I loved about this is the music... The songs they sang are very good. Once I saw this, I got the soundtrack and couldn't stop listening to it, it was that good. The score to the movie is also good. It is another excellent soundtrack composed by John Powell, the original composer of Rio. If you're familiar with his work, then you will know his excellent score to Rio.
Another thing you need to know, everyone is back from the first Rio. Jamie Foxx, Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, and many of the original cast returned for this and that makes this even more enjoyable. The new cast members are also enjoyable, including the excellent Andy Garcia. He is perfect for the role of Eduardo, but let's not forget the lovable Bruno Mars as Roberto. I was not familiar with him until I saw this and I now enjoy his music. For this being his first movie, Bruno Mars did an outstanding job as Roberto. He brought that character to life and added to the drama that was in the movie, with Blu thinking Roberto was going to steal Jewel away.
The storyline was good, but like I said before, not much was said about Blu's past. We know how Jewel was separated from her family, but what I don't understand is why nothing was said about Blu's past. He had to have family like Jewel. Where are his parents? This may be a hint that Saldanha is going to focus Rio 3 on Blu and I hope he does. The loving moments between Blu and Jewel made me smile, and it's cute to see some love in movies like this. My favorite part was when Jewel laid her head on Blu and fell asleep in his wings, that was an great way to show Jewel's love for Blu.
Saldanha, if you're reading this, you should be proud of this movie. You made another great movie and continue the great work. I hope you make Rio 3 and hope you continue the greatness like you did with this. This was by far your best work.
So, if you are a love of animated movies, I suggest watching Rio 2. It's a lovable movie and one of the best sequels of 2014. This may not be an all time animated classic, but it is one of the best movies yet. If you move past the flaws in this, then you can enjoy this movie. Every movie will has flaws here and there, but the thing that makes a difference is to accept them and enjoy the movie. The only problems I did see in this movie is the leaving Blu's past unanswered. Like I said, this may be Saldanha's hint that Rio 3 might focus on Blu and his past, but it's all up to him.
In the end, I give this movie 10 stars out of 10, I really enjoyed this movie and saw this three times in theaters. The 3D is worth the trip and if you enjoy 3D, then see this in 3D.
Biohazard 4 (2005)
Best Resident Evil Game I Ever Played
When this game first came out, I was really interested in playing it. But I wasn't able to play it until last year when I beat the whole game. Here are my thoughts on it. I loved every bit of it, it was one very addictive game and I couldn't stop playing it. It had a creepy atmosphere, but to me, this wasn't a scary game, even the Regenerators weren't scary to me. I heard and read many reviews calling this game scary, but my advice, everyone is different, it may be scary for some players, but not all players will say this is scary. I highly recommend this game if you want a good scare or a creepy but fun atmosphere. I love the Resident Evil series and this was by far their best. Hope they continue making excellent games like this in the future.
Well, there is my thoughts on this, so my overall score on this game is 10 out of 10 and here's why? 1) Excellent story, which added more to the suspense. The thought of someone being kidnapped by a mysterious cult like this is creepy, and their motives are revealed until you start playing the game. 2) The music, which makes the game even creepier. Music is what adds emotions to a story. When music is creepy like the one is this game, it adds more to the creepy atmosphere 3) The characters were great, especially Ashley who serves as a playable character in certain parts of the game and as the story's damsel in distress. 4) The Graphics, despite this being a 2005 video game, the graphics were really good and made the game look a lot better.
In the end, this game was really well made and could be a scary game for certain players, but for some, it's not scary. I really enjoyed this game and would play it again. If you played the newer Resident Evil games and haven't tried this yet, I suggest you try this game, it's really worth the money and the time. My best advice for people who are trying this game for the first time, play this game at a slow pace, it gives you the advantage to explore areas for weapons, treasures, or just clearing enemies
Alpha and Omega 2: A Howl-iday Adventure (2013)
Great movie
OK, there is a lot to say about Alpha and Omega 2. It's a great movie but not the best sequel in terms of length. The actors and actresses, were amazing, sounding like the original. Even though the originals couldn't reprise their roles, they found actors and actresses who not only did a great job but continued their amazing work. The animation could be a little better but we got a sequel, so we should at least be happy about that. Kate Higgins, from what I heard, she has a great voice and fits the role of Kate, just like Hayden Panettiere was when she voiced Kate in the original. The only problem with the movie is length, it's too short and still did not expanded much of the story.
As for the story line, there was still so much holes left out that weren't covered in the original. The plot holes include Garth's mother, where was she? Humphrey's parents? Where are they? So many questions were still left out. The story line for the movie was OK, but they should have expanded the story line of the first one, including the past of either Humphrey or Garth and show what happened to Humphrey's parents or Garth's mother. They could have still included the pups, but expanding the story line is a good move because it adds a new story on the character instead of just making a new movie.
The music, I got to say is pretty OK, love how they are using the same score from the first one but these movies lack their own score, different scores add new themes to the movie. Did Twilight use the same score over and over, no... they used different scores in each movie. That's one of the only things this series needs, it needs their own score as well, love how the original is used but new music can help the movie in more ways than you will think. Like they could make a love theme for Kate and Humphrey or for Lilly and Garth. They could easily made a creepy score to when the rogue wolves came in, giving away to the fact that they are bad wolves. That was one of the best things that made the original a great movie was the score. It was so beautiful, it added emotions to the story. My only hope is that in the future, with the possibility of more sequels coming, that they create their own score for them and adding to the story.
So overall, this movie was somewhat well done but still needs to fill in the plots holes from the first movie. This series can do that, all it needs is the story line to be expanded and focus on the back story of characters, so we can see what made and shaped these characters into what we see in the movie. It's also adds certain themes to movies like a character having a bad past can either add a sad theme to the story. I always loved the Alpha and Omega movies, and thought this series deserves a little more praise than it's been getting. The sequels are not bad movies, they just need a chance. There will be good movies and bad movies, but this movie is not one of the bad movies. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but at least give this movie a chance.
