Quick and to the point:
All the reviews about the imagery and effects are amazing. Fassbender is great and I could see an Oscar nom possibly for him. The first hour of the film is really entertaining and the suspense is there, but not as suspenseful as the first and second Alien films. The movie starts to lose itself somewhere after the first hour after they "figured" out where our beginning emerged. It felt rushed and a bit predictable or cheesy after that. They left a lot of unanswered questions. What was that black sludge? What did it do to people to make them turn into some sort of monster like that ginger-haired geologist that went missing then suddenly turns up into some sort of monster beating people to death. Why and what made him like that? How come at the end the Space Jockey humanoid died in Shaw's ship and not back in HIS ship where they originally found him in ALIEN 1979? I don't know how i honestly feel about this film. This was the ONE and ONLY movie I was anticipating more than any film since pretty much everything out is crap, plus I LOVE the Alien flicks and Ridley Scott is awesome, but there was a lot missing from Prometheus. I think some better writing and characters plus an additional 30-35 minutes wouldn't of hurt. And the suspense was severely lacking after the first hour. I just feel it wouldn't of been that hard to come up with a better storyline for these "professional" writers and director. Overall, it really isn't a bad movie and YES the effects are amazing, Fassbender is awesome, but there was something big lacking. I think it was the suspense and the movie though 2 hours was too short. Plus I would assume they left it open to a sequel. So a sequel to a prequel?
