Mutant X (2001)
Rough Around The Edges, But Overall Great
Mutant X holds a special place in my heart, but I believe there are areas where it could have been further improved. One aspect that could have benefitted from some adjustments is the cinematography. The frequent use of a sepia tone in many scenes of the show didn't always enhance the visual experience. Additionally, I noticed a few continuity errors that occasionally detracted from the overall viewing experience. Some of the fight scenes could have also used more refinement.
However, where Mutant X truly shines is in its acting and dramatic elements. The performances are superb, and it would be unfair to discredit the talented actors involved. The chemistry between the heroes of Mutant X is particularly wonderful, adding depth to their interactions. Moreover, the show's metaphorical exploration of mistreatment and discrimination towards individuals who are different is both powerful and thought-provoking. The series also boasts an impressive mythology that captivates viewers.
Despite its shortcomings, Mutant X has aged beautifully and continues to resonate with its audience. It possesses a remarkable amount of heart that sets it apart from many other shows. With a few tweaks, this show could have been even more exceptional, but it remains a worthwhile watch for fans of the genre.
Draft Day (2014)
Razor Thin Plot
With the exception of the grand tours, sports are boring. If sports are to be ranked in terms of how boring they are, baseball and football compete with each other in terms of being the most boring. Even if you disagree and think football is super exciting, this movie has little in the way of actual football playing. Instead, for whatever reason, the people who made this movie tried to make NFL drafts and trades seem really dramatic and exciting. I am sorry I watched this.
Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People (2015)
Tis a good show.
Osiyo really is a good show. Native Americans are interesting to me. My only complaints about this show are it doesn't seem to focus on Cherokee people in S. T. E. M. fields and it's not long enough at 30 minutes an episode.
Ultraviolet (2006)
Yes! It's Good
¶Despite what some might say, Ultraviolet is actually pretty decent movie. It's unique and original in one area: In most "vampire fare", vampires are immortal beings, but in Ultraviolet, hemophages (which are for all intents and purposes vampires) are not immortal. Instead, the virus which causes them to become hemophages significantly shortens their lifespan, 12 years infection to death.
¶Milla Jovovich is a gem. Some of her character, including Violet really are heavyweights where badass females are concerned. Violet is so sassy and adorable. Ultraviolet has Milla jovovich, William Fichtner, and Nick Chinlund, all of whom are great actors and their acting prowess is shown very well in the movie.
¶The choice of sets and costumes are superb and flamboyant for lack of a better term. The score is unique and although it has some orchestral elements, it's definitely not a conventional orchestral score. I know nothing of cinematography. That being said, the visuals are outstanding.
¶In Ultraviolet, there is a disease which comes from the far east and frightens many people into wearing masks. I wonder where I have heard that before. :P :D
¶Ultraviolet's plot and story-line are creative, but not necessarily completely, totally, and utterly unique. The fight scenes should be slower and more graphic. That's about it as far as problems I have with the movie
Parks and Recreation (2009)
Please, I beg you, make sitcoms stop.
Parks and Recreation is another abysmal sitcom, what a shock. This one is apparently riding the coat-tail of The Office, which is itself pretty awful.
Ashley (2013)
Superb
Go and see this movie! Do it! It's not enough to say that this movie is good, but this movie is also uplifting. Because the main character "Ashley" goes from having a difficult and painful experience to a wonderful one, the end of this movie is delightful.
Yes, the plot is good and the acting, especially from Nicole Buehrer is fantastic. Hell if I know anything about cinematography. So, I can't comment on how good the cinematography in this movie is. All though, I suspect that it would be considered good by people who do know about such things. The score/soundtrack is not prominent enough to comment on. So...
I don't think anyone would have made this movie in quite the same way which is why it is good that no one else made it.
I could gush on and on about how and why this movie is good, but I am not going to.
Now You See Me (2013)
Crap on a Cracker
I could have reviewed this the way I usually do, but that usually takes more writing and time than I am willing to waste on this review. This movie is fortunately not a meathook abortion. It is simply so uninspired and cringe worthy that I would have to warn people not to waste their time watching this. Why is it not a meathook abortion? Mostly because of the undeserved additions of Melanie Lauren, Morgan Freeman, and Woody Harrelson.
The "Robin Hood" aspect of this movie insulting. This says nothing about the "plot twist". Not only is the Robin Hood aspect insulting, it is pathetic and whiny. Is Hollywood really this desperate for original movie ideas?
If it's as ick as the first, I dread Now You See Me 2. The French woman is definitely an undeserved plus for this movie.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
"Green" Horsecrap
All this movie does is push an anti-human extremist view of environmentalism. This is sickening. The aliens who push humans back into the dark ages are portrayed as intellectually and morally superior to humans as opposed to the fascist villains they are. That is the biggest factor that makes this movie awful.
I guess the acting and cinematography are good. Of course, having Keanu Reeves does degrade the acting quality, but maybe the rest of the actors are okay. I don't remember anything about the score. So, I can't comment on that.
Seriously, don't destroy brain cells watching this.
Charmed (1998)
It's Awful!
Despite having good acting and a gorgeous set in the Halliwell house, this show is so stupid.
Charmed misrepresents witchcraft. In the show, magical abilities cannot be used for personal gain. I am pretty sure that is not a part of Wican beliefs or the beliefs of any religion which includes witchcraft.
Unfortunately, Charmed is obviously written to be palatable to judeo-christian audiences. The three sisters fight demons. Wicans don't believe in demons and those who practice Satanic witchcraft would welcome demons. Charmed considers a pastor or priest to be a paragon of good. So, I guess the biblical prohibition of witchcraft and the Salem Witch trials mean nothing.
I guess the scoring is good. However, I don't know about cinematography. Thus, I cannot comment on that.
