Through the whole movie, we are shown that a person must have the chip implanted to experience the things this main character is experiencing. We are never told anything else. Then comes the end. We are never told that a friend of hers has the chip. Not even once. And yet, at the end of the movie, the AI takes control of him! I call foul. How did the AI take control if he did not have the chip? During the movie, her friend even tried to talk her out of getting the chip, so we know he did not get it himself. Did someone sneak into his apartment while he was asleep and put it into his body? Of course not. Other than that, the acting was very good. The story is telling us what will happen if AI surpasses us in intelligence. But all of that was ruined for me by the nonsensical ending.

Bad Ending and Just ok acting

Why is it so difficult to find a movie with a good ending? This was just an ok movie. Bad acting by Melanie Griffith, and just ok acting by everyone else, with a couple of miscasts. It was difficult to believe some of the characters and the acting. The ending was terrible. I could have written a better ending! The ending court room scene did not feel realistic. A real prosecutor would have objected numerous times. It is obvious that the writer did not know much about court rooms and the questioning process. The ending could have been better. The plot was just ok and predictable. In some places, the story seemed unrealistic. It was difficult to believe that certain things would happen the way they did. I wish I had that time back. So why is it that movies lately do not have good endings? I watch a lot of movies per week, and a good ending is sometimes rare. Perhaps if this movie had a different writer.

I do not want to repeat what others have written. I just want to add a hole. Logic dictates that each apocalypse must stand on its own. There can only be one apocalypse. So therefore information taken from one apocalypse (in this case the exit code) can not be taken from one apocalypse to another. And like other reviewers, I liked the first half, and thought the rest of the movie had promise. Then I saw the second half and was disappointed. Each apocalypse was delivered with almost nonsense, and lack of logic, especially the last one in which a bomb drops out of nowhere right beside them and does not explode but has a button! Imagine that! ! And when the students lined up, why couldn't the professor just shoot the one in front? Just to prove a point if nothing else? If this is supposed to be reality, after all. Why would the line stop him all of a sudden?

I almost never review a movie, and I see at least 3 every week, sometimes 5. I had to come here to review this one because I hated it that much! The guy who played Brad needs to take better acting lessons. I could not believe him when he was angry, sad or almost crying. (I think he was trying to cry anyway). Not only that, but the ending was terrible. I guess it must be written somewhere that movies made in the last few years must have bad endings. They can no longer be good or happy. If you want a happy ending, do not see this one. Not only that, but there were plot holes. Was the reporter in on the plot? If so, how? She worked for a freaking news station! Was Moe in on it too? He mentioned the bad things that were supposedly happening while he was looking for his girlfriend. If he was, then what really happened to him and why? So many unnecessary questions. And finally, why was there a plot anyway? What was the reason for the charade?! If I ever see this movie again, it will be too soon. The movie was so bad that I am sure I could write a better one, and I am not a pro.

I just want to add to other reviewers. I agree that it could have been a much better movie. One thing I had difficulty with was when the woman he is in love with told him that the universe wants him to be an astronaut, so he should pursue that. Yeah, right! Never mind that the change would take many years. The real problem I had, though, was that later, she says to him, "If the universe wanted us to be together, we would be". Didn't anyone see the problem? He should have pointed that out, and told her she was contradicting herself! If the universe wanted him to be an astronaut, he would be. I could have improved on this movie, and I am not a pro. It was just ok, but not great.
