I in particular adore late 70s and Early 80s slasher and zombie flicks (e.g. Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, The Thing, Suspiria, Braindead, Bad Taste, Evil Dead 2, House, Holloween, A Nightmare on Elm St, Hellraiser, From Behond, Re-Animator, and Phantasm).
My tastes are varies however. I rate The Princess Bride as my number one film of all time. Other favourites include: Vertigo, Rear Window, Fight Club, 12 Angry Men, The Professional, Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, Goodfellas, and most of The Coen Brothers films..
I read far too much, and yet nowhere enough. I have a Masters Degree in Linguistic Anthropology, and as such can bore most people to sleep.
I am equally a fan of extreme metal and 1920-40s jazz and blues. I adore Bjork as much as I do classic rock. In fact if its not country then I'll probably enjoy it.
I am arrogant, condescending, and an intellectual elitist. I am also an idiot, a fool, and happy to admit when I am wrong.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
Something is rotten in the town of Raccon City
First off let me say I am a horror geek. And add to that a zombie nerd. My fave film of all time is Braindead, and my top 5 include the 4 Romero Dead films.
OK now thats over let my tell you of my hate of the trash known as Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Its awful.
Fist up the acting, wooden at best, aggravating at its worst. Some scenes play like an amateur porn flick before the sex kicks in.
The Story is beyond abysmal, and is simply beyond stupid, it lacks cohesion or any development of plot or characterization.
Sound is actually good, well mixed and crisply presented. The low end is perhaps a bit wooden, and the high end too sharp, but the surround is just about perfect.
The direction is cookie cutter stuff, with every trade cliché finding its way in somewhere, the framing show a lack of imagination.
The editing is crude, with sloppy jump cuts and bad pacing. The film could have been 15-25 minutes shorter and lost nothing in atmosphere. It feel rushed and further weakens an already damaged product.
The fx are OK and some are impressive, but mostly they are a sad attempt at bringing life to a corpse of a film that really needed to be buried, and is just stinking up the place.
My major irk with the movie is that it isn't scary, or gory, or suspenseful, all the things the game is known for, and things that horror is known for. Instead we get a weak action film so dumb that only the lowliest smacktard could possibly enjoy it (i.e if you like Uwe Boll this is the movie for you).
I hate this film for what it should have been.
There are worse ways to waste a couple of hours but I cant think of any right now.
If you like horror skip this film, it will only annoy you. If you like action, skip it will only disappoint you. If you like film skip it, as it will only astound you at its ineptitude.
1 out of 10 only Uwe Boll could make a worse horror film.
Fight Club (2004)
Fight Club (the game) is crap
Do not but/rent/play this piece of garbage. Not only does it completely miss the point of the movie, it is a very poor and basic fighting game. Story mode is a joke. This is just another attempt to cash in on amazing movie by releasing a weak game with a well known name tacked on.
Avoid at all costs.
If people stop buying this kind of junk the cash hungry marketers will stop pushing for them to get made, this means more money for decent games, and less sh1t we as consumers have to deal with.
I am Jacks sense of utter contempt.
Cabin Fever (2002)
Horror as it always should have been
God created Eli Roth, and he saw that it was good.
Im not going to say too much about Cabin Fever, other than watch it watch it now.
Its the film I have been begging for, for the last 10 years. If you love Horror, you'll love Cabin Fever. If you respect early Raimi, Craven, Fulchi, Carpenter, Hooper, Argento, Jackson, then this movie is for you.
Thank you Eli Roth for bringing Horror back to the fans.
If there is one horror film you watch this year, make it Cabin Fever.
Battlefield Earth (2000)
Plan 9 has a sequel and successor
Ok first of this is in my humble opinion THE worst film ever to disgrace the screen (of any size), and for that single reason should be watched by everyone. From its wooden acting to awful special effects to its truely terrible script, this film embodies everything that a film should NOT have. One the other hand it is one of the funniest movies I have ever watched, and with the right mind set, can be extremely entertaining, and would make a great drinking game movie. The plot holes are enourmous, and the directing is laughable. Its a riot watch it now.
Done.
