Hereditary (2018)
Eeeehm....Ok!
Can someone please explain to me what is so interesting about this movie?
I mean, I've tried to work it out for myself, but to no avail.
I have sat through this movie twice now, and for the life of me I just don't get it.
It starts off well enough, setting up this fractured family's story, and each characters relationship with each other, then all of a sudden it goes bonkers...
What in the hell is the 3rd act all about? I mean, I've seen my share of supernatural, possession themed horror movies, but this one just does sweet F. A . For me, lol.
Toni Collete and Gabriel Byrne are great actors but in this they are wasted in my opinion, and as for the guy who plays the big brother...he should stick to Boardgame Movies. I will give Milly Shapiro props where they're due though she is outstanding in this creepy role.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
I soooo wanted to like this...But...
Sadly, I was disappointed nearly before the 1st ten minutes had elapsed. Main complaint is its just...not...funny?
The Rock music which was such an integral part of the 1st two movies isn't here at all, now replaced by some electronic guff that I don't understand.
It goes nowhere, the set pieces are flat and I knew things were bad when even Samara Weaving being on screen couldn't even hold my interest.
Utter waste of time and effort.
Jaws (1975)
The Greatest Film Ever Made....(In My Opinion, That Is!)
Straight out the gate , I must admit that I love this Movie!! Ever since I first saw it at the age of 3 when it was premiered on TV. I have watched Jaws more times than any other film, and I have seen a lot. This film has everything you could want from a movie, thrills, chills and excitement, as well as a great story and some damn fine acting from three of the best of they're times. The scenery, Camera- work and pacing are all top notch, but then again would you expect anything less from a Master Film Maker like Spielberg?
As i mentioned previously, the actors in this movie are all excellent, especially the three main characters Brody, Hooper and the excellent Quint. Roy Scheider is great as the put upon town sheriff Martin Brody, and a Young Richard Dreyfuss has just enough smart ass knowledge to be likable as Matt Hooper, But undoubtedly the greatest role went to Robert Shaw who plays the hard drinking, abrasively salty sea Captain Samuel Quint, the movies own take on Captain Ahab!
Other standout roles are Lorraine Gary as Brody's long suffering Wife Ellen and Murray Hamilton as the weasel like Town Mayor Larry Vaughne.
Then of course we must mention Bruce.... The name given to the much maligned mechanical shark that was used in this movie by Spielberg is also the name of his Lawyer. Much has been written about the nightmare the crew had filming out at sea with a shark that didn't want to stop sinking etc, but in the end great craftsmanship made it all work out for the better.
I hold this movie in very high regard and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good time with a few scares here and there along the way.
