No One Will Save You (2023)
Aliens, human nature and the question about evilness
I didn't expect such a good movie when I selected it, thinking it was the classic horror movie with an alien-themed plot; nothing more than a passable film, good enough to entertain with some plot twists. But I had to change my mind as soon as I started paying attention to a few elements. First of all, some director's aesthetical choices and an ethical sense under it all which is fully revealed at the end. And the title deepens and enriches the dramatic significance of the movie as well. Good acting by Denver, impressive script and valuable special effects are other positive qualities of this movie.
Did it scare me? Yes, more than expected. Has it given me to think? Sure enough, as I come back from time to time reflecting on some scenes, especially trying to interpret the finale. This is what I consider a positive element which makes a movie a good one.
The peculiar choice to have as the main character a dolly-house girl who is able to kill - indiscriminately humans and aliens - has got its effect and it works, it works well. Even the good decision to create aliens which are not all the same - as usually it's instead done in similar movies - is a good one. They still look like something already seen and nothing original, but this is not the point, I think. Playing on what is familiar to the audience serves to get closer to the main point in the plot, that is, according to me, revealing something about human nature, the responsibility to be able to kill, to be potentially evil indeed, it doesn't matter if just unintentionally. And then, fighting against aliens becomes a fight against your past, a matter of redeeming yourself, as it is for the main character of this interesting story. The final scene - with the aliens examining the girl, her memories and sorrowfulness - is what convinced me, as they were not just dealing with invasion and the transformation of the planet (if this is what they really want, from what we can see in the movie), but even with a more serious issue: dealing with a resistant, able-to-kill lady that is difficult to control, to such an extent that they have to leave her in her own inhumane personality. Which is something she has always looked for, since her childhood tragedy: a dolly house into which she could now live and breathe and dance, finally free, perfectly matched with inhuman human beings. It's up to us to decide if consider this a prison, a new starting, or just a surreal illusion.

Very good acting, photography and storyline
I personally love when mystery, drama and mythology are combined in a story: this TV product has got a great potential and I'm interested in watching how the plot will develop. Even the context, Turkey and its cultural heritage, enrich the story in many ways. Actress and actors are really able to portrait their characters, they do not exaggerate, without stereotypies. I also appreciate the photography (especially in the first episodes) as well as the music. And rhythm isn't fast (as instead it is in many TV series nowadays, on Netflix in particular) and in different moments it seems to be watching a fable with intense humanity in it and a deep content to meditate.
