Great But
27 February 2021
Arthur Julian wrote some great and funny scripts but for me with all his later episodes, the totally out of character arguing between Agarn and Dobbs spoilt the sprit of these great series for me, still among my all time favourites though

Denny's Best
12 February 2021
Denny Miller would never win any awards and was mainly a bit part actor playing heavies, but I think this, despite reservation about the subject matter, by some , was by far the best performance I have seen him give, I thought he did really well.

I know this is about Narcotics but,
8 August 2020
It is usually about booze, and the prevention of people drinking it, when almost every character, including Federal Agents, is seen continually lighting up a cigarette !!!

Good Start

To a good series.

If I had been one of the criminals I'd have given up early due to the presence of Kojak's secret weapon, the screeching member of the Hari Krishna band. !!!

Amazing

How times have changes, this episode is a non stop advert for horrible smoking, non stop. Was it paid for by a tobacco company? I had to fast forward most of it.

Good But

Not as good as the early seasons. What disgusts me is to see a man in a wheelchair puffing on a rotten cigar.!

At Loss
5 July 2020
I am among the greatest fans of this wonderful series of which this is an outstanding example. I am a bit of a fanatic about people being credited, and have managed to rectify some blanks for instance in relation to former Baseball Ref Art Passerrella, who appears in many episodes formerly uncredited, better known as Succoulovich in Streets of San Francisco, and Tony Dante, who has now most of the credits he appears in rectified. I am at a loss to identify a character who in this episode is one of the machine gunners in the barber shop who shoots Nick's messengers. He's a big guy with a large forehead and Ginger? hair. He even appears in The Nick Moses Story on Nitti's council called Mike by Nitti, but even for this he is not even credited!! can anyone help in identifying such as 'Big Mike' and other uncredited persons? Many Thanks Andy Morison.

Great But...
20 October 2019
As the world's biggest Untouchables fan it would pain me to write anything negative about this franchise. But this Pilot, at least the first part, though it does get a bit better, is pedestrian compared to the best episodes of the subsequent series, which of course we remember, forgetting the worst. First episode The Empty Chair a case in point. Of which the first few minutes even, are a step up in tempo.

Its funny that some of the original Untouchables such as Paul Dubov later sit on Frank Nitti's council and Peter Leeds is as a con in 3000 suspects!!. Eddie Firestone an Untouchable!!!! (sorry Eddie), and Paul Picerni does a complete about turn. The series has the benefit of the great music played during the episodes which this does not have. Which always adds great substance.

To me its ironic that the whole revolves around the prohibition of alcohol while most of the characters smoke like chimneys!!!

Bruce Gordon, Neville Brand, and Frank (F. Troop) de Kova are some of my all time favourites but for the first two in proper larger than life form watch the Big Train Parts 1 and 2 and Bruce and Frank in The Frank Nitti Story , Nick Acropolis etc.

Again a good watch but not a patch on the best of Series 1-3. but still way ahead of disappointing Season 4

In same boat

I recorded it into my video collection from TV many years ago and have made a DVD copy also, but I like the other reviewers would like to own an original copy myself. Currently my Vieod/DVd player is out of action but intend to get a new one and can then make other copies of the film.

Art Passarella Never Credited
2 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Art Passarella plays A Jake Guzik Henchman, and is often in other Episodes such as a Nick Moses henchman, but why is he never credited here, and does not appear in the list of "Full cast and crew", why this is I am not sure as he was a well known Baseball Umpire, he is credited as Officer Sukulavich in the Streets of San Fran Cisco. so why not here.
