Poacher (2023)
Doesn't hit home.
Kerala is known for its greenery, however the entire series is shot in low light and this ruined the viewing experience.
Dubbing is nothing less than horrible. The original language is Malayalam, however the dialogues and the way it's delivered, the artists who have dubbed, everything was sloppy. It almost sounded like people who have no idea of how the language is spoken have dubbed for a few characters.
There are certain scenes featuring the lead characters and their acting seems forced and unnatural. Not sure if Nimisha's character has been written this bad or if she forgot how to act. The entire series seems like it has been put together in a hurry.
Malik (2021)
Terrific performance, poor direction.
Terrific performance by the cast goes down the drain because of the director. There are so many details that are not taken into consideration. The language spoken, each person speaks different dialects all through the movie. The costume director needs to find a better profession as the clothes don't match the time period. Editing is all over the place, and no it's not a non-linear style of story telling. The stock footage of a one type of natural calamity gets mixed up with a totally unrelated natural calamity of another type. Fahadh fanboys, please don't compare this to Nayagan or The Godfather, you're doing disservice to the film industry.
The Girl on the Train (2021)
Trains in London are very slow
Parineeti can't act if her life depended on it, Kriti Kulhari is suffering from constipation in the entire movie and Aditi, it's best not to talk about her. Watch it only if they pay you what Netflix paid for the rights.
Zhagaram (2019)
Avoid it like the plague
A cringe fest. Dialogues are bad, screenplay is bad, events in the movie are super bad. Save some time and avoid it.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
A colossal bore
Not sure what they were thinking. The movie is a collection of random stuff that happens during an apocalyptic event. What was George Clooney thinking?
Anveshanam (2020)
Film fails trying
The movie tried and failed at sending a message through a thriller drama. Title is Anveshanam, but there's hardly any investigation being done. Cops are naive and drive the investigation purely on the basis of gut feeling. Best thing about it is the running time of 99 minutes, though the director could've avoided making this film altogether. Watched it on Prime Video.
18am Padi (2019)
What was the director thinking?
Something went horribly wrong while the movie was conceptualized. Reminds me of my school days where we tried mixing all the chemicals in the chemistry lab to see what happens. That's exactly what happened to this movie, ensemble cast playing cameos resulting in something nobody understands and is of little or no value. Avoid it like the plague if you can.
9: Nine (2019)
Too darn long
Put together the movie has a run time of 159 minutes. However the entire movie can be wrapped up in 20 minutes including the climax which is about 9 minutes but just to give everyone that twist and make them gasp the first 2 hours and 30 minutes are wasted. There were times when I took my phone out and started playing Temple Run. One good thing is that the director has cut down on slow motion shots of Prithviraj walking.
Antariksham 9000 kmph (2018)
A so called brilliant attempt ruined by the lack of logic
A dude hijacks a space mission, endangers the lives of his crew and does the impossible all because of his false pride. This movie is a disservice to the real scientists of ISRO. I'll go watch Apollo 13 for sanity.
Vella Raja (2018)
What a waste of time
Someone needs to stop Parvatii Nair, she can't act, her constipated expressions throughout the series makes it an even more painful watch. The story revolves around how a bunch of misfits end up in a hotel and what's the story behind the protagonist becoming the quintessential bad guy. Several characters utter swear words without any conviction and it always seem out of place and artificial.
Arjun Reddy (2017)
Great acting let down by a poor climax.
No doubts this is one of the best movies ever made in Telugu Cinema, having said that what could have been a great ending was ruined by the climax. Vijay Deverakonda lives through the character and Rahul Ramakrishna as his friend is amazing. There's not a lot of importance given to other characters as all of them get equal screen time.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
Will not watch Season 2
Was bored and watched the first season in two days. I kept waiting for the rib tickling comedy that never came and I was already at the end of the season. There were few instances that were funny but Miriam Maisel isn't funny, although she tries too hard to be. The underlying flaw of the character is that she doesn't have content other than what's happening in her life. There's nothing to look forward to in the next season and I have a feeling that it's going to bomb just like a couple of the gigs. Some of the characters that are a saving grace are Tony Shalhoub as Abe Weissman and Alex Borstein as Susie Myerson, especially when she's not with the protagonist.
Jason Bourne (2016)
Isn't Bourne tired already ? I am.
We've seen 3 decent movies about Bourne running from the CIA. It's really a shame that they still haven't caught him despite having all the CCTV cameras in the world at their command. The movie follows a template that seems to have stuck in the directors minds. The cameraman was probably m*sturb*ting while filming as the shots are not steady and the visuals are in your face. I went in with the expectation to see Matt Damon & Julia Stiles return to the franchise and give us something good, but the film fails on several levels. I ended up sleeping through the last 10 minutes. I'd never watch another Bourne movie ever again. There's nothing the movie that you wouldn't have seen in other Bourne movies.
Unthinkable (2010)
A very good movie indeed
How long can you endure pain and suffering ? How far can you go to save lives ? The answers to these questions is in this movie. Though some feel that it is impossible to watch the torture scenes, I feel that it is those scenes that bring out the best in the cast. Michael Sheen is unbelievable in the movie, while Samuel Jackson is nonchalant despite doing the ugly stuff all through and finally Carrie-Anne Moss plays the role of the person stuck between devil and deep sea with ease. This movie is not all gore, it has certain scenes make us think "what would I do if I were in that room ?". This movie is for a mature audience that can watch it without prejudices. People who think that this movie is unwatchable are entitled to their opinion.
