The Goldbergs: That's a Schwartz Man (2022)
Season 10, Episode 2
3/10
Enough

Like several reviewers from S10E1, (or perhaps several seasons ago) the comedic genius and nostalgia had started to wane and the show became far too predictable and therefore seemingly repetitive. The season 9 episodes were obviously lacking "Murray" and we could sense something was up. And so combine that with the show already going downhill, if there WAS to be a season 10, it had better be something pretty good.

It's not.

I want to like it. But it is cringy.

This episode )S10E2) is just more of the same. Another excuse to have an 80's actor (David Hasselhoff) who clearly looks at least 35-40 years older than we remember him (and is obviously wearing a wig! Cringe!!), and weak plot lines to keep Adam from leaving home so he can stay at home and be miserable. Dr. Barry (well, med school or pre med school student) still lives at home and still acts like he couldn't pass high school, let alone pre med. But the JTP (JTP! :) still hang around too (full on adults who haven't moved on) The new grandpa... Grumpy like Murray but just a little too late and too obvious as a "replacement" And Beverly... not funny anymore and not convincing as a grieving widow.

All in all, I doubt i will watch any more. This is a case where they should have quit while they were ahead and kept the legacy. But if the show is still making money then I guess they are bound to think of the business more than the integrity. Also, to be fair, the competition may be lacking these days as well.
