Mu Sapanara Soudagar (2008)
movie with a passion
My rating for this movie is ******(Good). The movie continues to maintain its fast pace and does not give a chance for the audience to get bored even for a single minute, thanks to the tight bound script which does not get loosen by unnecessary comedy scenes or songs. The songs were placed according to their requirement, they are not placed just for the sake of it.As far as acting of all the actors are concerned, everyone has given proper justice to their roles. Arindam,Archita and Sabyasachi Mishra in their respective roles have been apt in their characters. Sabyasachi in the role of an obsessed lover "Omm" is a treat to watch. His body language, dialogue delivery are very impressive and he has handled this complex character with a great ease. Arindam Roy in the role of "Chandan" is also very good only sometimes he needs to give more emphasis on his expressions. Archita in the role of "Sriya" has done a fabulous job, she looks stunning in the movie. Ajit Das, Bina Moharana, Akhila Patnaik in their supporting roles are good. Mihir Das in his guest appearance is full of impact.Talking about the flip side of the movie, the music of the movie is quite weak and the filming of the songs is also not very impressive. The background score of the movie could have been more better and impactive for a thriller movie like this. The movie has been made on a medium budget and the main highlights of this movie is its plot and some good performances by the actors. It is recommend for those, who wants fast paced movie.
Keun Dunia Ru Asila Bandhu (2009)
Well scripted film
I saw this movie some time back.I feel director has made a good movie keeping oriya audience in mind. I mean a mixture of science and emotion. The 1st half is total family drama and 2nd half is an exciting new era. I will divide the film in two parts. Up to interval the best parts are stolen by Sabyasachi. Sabyasachi and his new experiment with such a unique role is worth watching. I think in oriya industry only Sabyasachi is a hero who can perform all types of unique roles and in 1st half nakka mukka song was a treat for all young mass. Archita also gave a nice presence in 1st half. And now let me tell about 2nd half where the alien became the hero. It is a good experiment. Effects are of good quality and I enjoyed alien dancing, fighting & every bit. And best part of 2nd half is the climax. In climax everyone will be pleased by the screen play and presentation. and last part the animations are also great. Still the 1st half is better than the second half. dialogs are good. Finally i will say its a movie all should watch.
To Bina Bhala Lagena (2008)
traingle love story
The Movie starts with the 1st encounter happening between Deepak(Sabyasachi) and Jyoti(Rupali). The scene has been narrated in a very genuine way. The romance that eventually blossoms between the two characters Deepak and Jyoti with the violin sessions and Deepak coming up for Jyoti s safeguard have been handled very delicately in the film. The scenes looks very romantic and yet very classy. The Introduction scene of Pupinder justifies his colorful character of "Suraj" portrayed in the film. The fast half of the Movie is almost flawless with proper pace and the movie continues almost with a single flow without much constraints but however post Interval the Movie becomes almost predictable and it seems like an Old Wine in a New Bottle.Sometimes the pace of the movie tends to get slower specially after when Deepak becomes aware of his Friend s Love interest and attempts to make his love to get sacrificed for his friend Suraj s happiness. The pace of the Movie again gains its momentum after Jyoti becomes aware of the identity of her true Love in the form of Deepak but any how the the film looses its consistency in its pace.Acting wise Sabyasachi has properly justified his character well, Rupali is surprisingly very good in the movie, Pupinder has done a good job in his debut film but however he needs to groom himself, George Tiadi and Anita Das are as usual good in their respective roles, Mihir Das has been wasted completely in an inappropriate role, Minaketan has justified the character of a drunkard Uncle of Jyoti, Saheb Singh is loud. The screenplay and the costumes of each character has been very proper.Actress Rupali in the role of a simple village girl has been styled well and she has been given shuttle colors in her costumes that justifies the simplicity of the character well, Sabyasachi has also been styled well and properly according to the characterization. The film has been made with an effort to project a pure Love story to the audience,so unnecessary comedy scenes have not been implemented into it.The screenplay of the movie is good and has been properly justified. The Music of the Movie is decent with the title song stands out of the rest. Director Jyoti Das has however done a splendid job in his debut film. Not so bad, worth watching
Nandini I Love U (2008)
Not so bad not so good
The movie has a very young feel to it. Every frame of the movie looks very beautiful and the direction of the movie is the primary savior for the movie. Ashok Pati is the new age oriya film maker who has the ability to take oriya films into new heights visually. The Music of the film is OK type but two songs of the movie are very nice specially the title song(Both male and female version).Though the movie is inspired from "Dhadkan" but still the creativity of the director can be seen clearly from the movie. The introduction scenes of the main characters of the film could have been better. The Back-ground score of the movie comes effective in its second half of the story. The graphics of the movie are very impressive and the cinematography of the film is very Rich. Talking about the performances Buddhaditya stands out above all. You cannot ignore an actor like him who has such a great screen presence and an impressive dialogue delivery. It actually seems that the character was written only keeping him in mind. The characterization of "Buddhaditya" as "Jeet" is so strong and its surely one of the memorable performance given by any oriya actor in the recent times. Sidhant Mohapatra in the role of "Shri Ram" is as usual very good in the movie, his mannerisms, his persona, his dressing sense everything was very proper and have given a complete justice to the movie. The actress "Krisha" in her role of "Nandini" is not more than average, she has given not so strong performance only looks good in parts, but in few close ups she is not looking very impressive. Also she needs to have a good hair stylist and use a right kind of make-up to make her look more glamorous and beautiful. Her costumes are good but her screen presence is not very effective. Anita Das in her brief role is fabulous."Bobby Mishra" has been completely wasted in the movie. Snigdha Mohanty in the role of step mother is good, but have a little scope to do.The climax of the film is very surprising and the fifteen minutes of chasing scene is one of the highlights of the movie. So giving an all round review,"Nandini I Love U" is a combination of plus points as well as flaws.
Dream Girl (2009)
Enjoyable film
I saw the movie few days before. As i have seen the Telugu version of the movie also on 2007. So I feel it is a very good movie as compared to that but some place anyhow, I feel something we are missing something out, like as Priya is a new comer and this is her first movie, it shows in the movie by acting, dancing etc in the first half but in the second half she is very good. And Sabyasachi is a very good actor as I saw his 1st movie Pagal Premi, so I had expected little bit more from him, overall his performance is good except some scenes like that drunken role in night with his friends. That scene needs some more reality . Overall enjoyable film
Love Dot Com (2009)
Sabyasachi at his best
This is an odia film i watched after so many days. Sabyasachi's acting was good & the actress Megha s acting was appreciable. The film's 1st half is somewhat similar to Hindi movie Hulchul with some new twist and turns in the 2nd half. This movie is an entertaining movie on a whole keeping this movie apart, overall a very good package but I think climax was bit hurried. The glamor quotient was fine, but Don't you think ladies flaunted there cleavage too much. Kudos for performance of lead pair & but side kicks, especially brothers of protagonist s acting looked very stiff. Traditional costumes, make up,cinematography & music were fine. It was a pudding of bollywood movies even some part of background score. I must say an much improved effort, but need to focus on the soul..i.e the story.
Prem Rogi (2009)
Siddhant's best movie
Prem Rogi ... the name is very interesting. The star cast is very good. All of them have performed as per the expectation. Mr Bobby Mishra needs a special mention. He is brilliant in the movie. The biggest strength of the movie is its music. All the songs are excellent. The sad song(sung by Suresh Wadekar)and the Arabic song are too good. Congrats to Prasant Padhi, the music director. The choreography of the song "Premara Zahara" is superb. The Director has done justice to the script. But I feel it could have been better. The 2nd half of the movie is much better than the fist half. Some comic scenes could have been added to the first half. There was lot of scope for it. Overall a good movie. It deserves a rating of 5 out 10 .
Kali Sankar (2007)
The same boring story
I just watched the movie KALISHANKAR tonight. I watch quite some Oriya movies every now and then and after watching them only I am writing this review/comment.
This movie is completely full of loopholes! Believe me. By the end of this movie you cant stop discussing the loopholes with your friends.
Let me discuss some- 1. Meghna Mishra is separated from her family and despite living in the same town, she never attempts to go back to her old home even once in 10 long years! 2. Siddhant and Anubhav meet in the movie with a fight sequence where Anubhav has been asked to kill Siddhanth. Later during the fight sequence he Anubhav happens to bang his head in the Krusna Temple and regains his memory. At that point of time all of a sudden God knows how, both of them recognize each other without asking any questions!! 3. The movie starts with the separation of 3 children who look to be somewhere around of the age group 7-10 years. Then the movie shoots ahead 10 years and the three children have grown into Siddhanth, Anubhav and Meghna. Is is real hilarious because by no means they look like 20 year old. Maybe a gap of 15-18 years would have done some justice to their looks!!! Believe me friends there are many loopholes and if I discuss theme here, it will be a never ending comment.
Mr Nanda completely ignored the humor element in the movie! Except for a few scenes which were not really that comic, one could easily spot the lack of humor in the movie.
There were some special effects in the movie and they were damn nonsense. With due respect to the producers, if the budget doesn't allow to go for good special effects then it would have been great to keep things simple in my opinion.
And our actors need to shed their flab's! Anubhav who is a brilliant actor needs to get rid of the flab's and maybe come up with some packs instead. He seems to have added on massively! Maybe the Producer wont give a damn to my review because he might end up with profits with this movie. I think producers should start targeting a bigger audience and only then there are chances of the industry progressing. Well I would like the Oriya cine critics to start doing the jobs seriously i.e. criticizing movies that have loopholes so that they aren't repeated again! This particular movie will obviously be applauded by a particular section of the audience I am sure and that section of public will be enough for the producer to grab profits. But by no means it will help in improving the industry! If we look down south, people hardly watch Hindi movies. And that because the quality of regional movies is so high. Well in our industry the budget doesn't allow us to go for high quality stuff, so what? We can come up with some good stories rather than going for the same old brother sister revenge theory! And our actors are pretty good in what they do. So why not come up with a good script. I am sure that doesn't require a huge budget.
