Cell Count (2012)
Good for what it is...
Keeping in mind that directors are limited by their budget, I thought Todd Freeman did a good job working with what he had. I enjoy movies without all the CG and huge explosions. This was a sci-fi thriller with a few gory parts added for effect. I would have liked to have seen a more concrete ending as I am left wanting more, which I believe was the directors intention the entire time. I agree with the previous review in that Hollywood ought to give Freeman a budget to work with and make a feature film. His directing is quality work and this movie was well acted while developing a bit of back story for the characters to make them more likable in the end. I would look forward to Cell Count 2. Bring it on.
Best Laid Plans (2012)
Well done for what it is.
Strong 8 vote from me. Strong performance by both lead actors. SG and AAA are cast well for the roles they are to play in this movie. Both roles are quite convincing. The drug-use and sleaziness is what makes it real. It's not a Hollywood blockbuster and shouldn't be viewed as such. If they spent 500,000 to make it, that would be a lot. But given the strong performances by all the actors, it deserves a watch. Enjoy. Well, IMDb says I have to have 10 lines so I will add the fighting was surprisingly real given AAA's size. As I doubt there was any stunt double for this, my hats off to AAA. Well done man. Another strong show. Wish we could hang. You must have some stories. OK. That's 10 lines. Have a nice day, and check this movie out.
