Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
So hard to watch
It's like the blind leading the blind in this newest installment of the franchise. No real sense of danger - even when they're illegally entering places or escaping the dinosaurs. I think the worst is the change in Claire's personality. I get that she's now supposed to be a mother and have a nurturing, softer side but come on. Her portrayal isn't even believable and she comes off as super awkward in what should be maternal moments. It's taken the better part of a day to get mid-way through the movie. I find myself constantly pausing due to unbelievable or extremely slow scenes that have absolutely nothing to do with the dinosaurs which are supposed to be the main focus. I pray they stop here and don't make any more.
Bones: The Bullet in the Brain (2011)
Sigh
This show is so far from believable.....what FBI agent works solo, putting Booth in dangerous situations always alone or with a non-armed doctor for company; then you have him chasing a suspect in some Vans (not even the lace up kind either); Booth knows the sniper is going to be at the land site he purchased in Booth's name yet he doesn't plan for back up or have the suspect surrounded; and finally Booth has the suspect in his sights, gun drawn, and he doesn't take the shot and instead let's him go!!! On the flip side the show as a whole is funny and very entertaining with well developed and likable characters. The writers just need to stay away from such cheesey storylines.
The Kid Detective (2020)
Pleasantly surprised
Picked this as I surfed through available movies and was shocked by how entertaining it was. Not sure if it's supposed to be a comedy but I found myself laughing at some of Abe's crazy antics and dry wit. When he hid in the closet I knew it wasn't going to end well and BOLO when he sneezed and got caught, just when you thought he might pull it off.
London Kills: Sex Games (2019)
So happy
Only reason I've been watched this far is to see how long they'll wear the same outfits from episode to episode, and when Billie and Vivienne will receive their reckoning. Vivienne because she's a terrible supervisor and team player and Billie because she has zero detective skills even for a trainee. She knows Amber was at a victim's flat that she lied about knowing and found the body - it's a real possibility she was involved. Invite her to your house alone or tell your supervisor...sheesh, tough call. *Eye roll*
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
WTF
43 minutes in and I had to come here to see if it was just me that was super bored during this movie.... it's not. After all the build up this sequel is a huge let down. So disappointed
Cliffhanger (1993)
A Sly Classic
This is one of my favorite Sly movies - great cast, good pace and action. Recently watched during the pandemic and sad to say how pleased I was when Hal's girlfriend finally fell. Like seriously she had 2 arms and hands but used her left arm to hold her right arm instead of holding on to Gabe with 2 hands. She clearly didn't want to live contrary to her loud statements about not wanting to die
Artemis Fowl (2020)
SMH
What did I just watch....at least the visuals were decent. Terrible, especially the ending
Silent Witness: Peripheral Vision: Part 2 (2007)
Ugh where did Nikki come from?
I can't stand Nikki's character. She's always looking shocked, crying or stepping way outside her position. How does she still have a job when she can't follow rules or instructions? And how has she suddenly become the main character? The interesting storylines are the only thing that keeps me watching
Silent Witness: An Academic Exercise: Part 2 (1998)
Dumbest Smart person ever!
Dr. Ryan is like a child - you tell them not to do something and she goes and does just that. How many times is she allowed to break the rules, basically messing up the evidence and witnesses, before she is let go? The only reason she's always in trouble is her lack of communicating events as soon as they happen, it's almost like she's saving things up. Which gets her framed and alienated from people she has to work with. This would be a pretty good show if she wised up and just did her job
Silent Witness: Friends Like These: Part 2 (1997)
On the fence
I love police dramas which is why I continue to watch even though I'm tired of the same nonsense from the characters - Sam overstepping her role as the pathologist and the police being so narrow-minded that they refuse to look at other suspects or evidence. Not to mention how often Sam takes a verbal lashing, from strangers and family/friends alike and never says anything to defend herself. IMO her best scene was when she told Wyn she wasn't taking the blame for their father's death. It's almost like her only role in life is to absorb everyone's pain
The Coroner (2015)
Wanted to like but....
I wanted to like this series because I love crime dramas, however Davey's constant doubt and negativity towards Jane is so annoying. Why ask for her assistance if you're not going to listen? Also the killers became obvious towards the end of the 1st season.
Escape Plan: The Extractors (2019)
Better Than Expected
You can tell this was shot in 4 weeks, between the shaky camera scenes and the thin plot. But the fight sequences were excellent and I enjoyed the movie overall
Prime Suspect 5: Errors of Judgement (1996)
Errors of Judgment Indeed
Overall I like this series. I enjoy Tennison's character and the the length of each episode, as well as the great acting by the supporting cast. I do however sometimes stumble on the issue with her running into situations alone with no backup and not even bothering to call and let her team know where she is. When she arrives to the warehouse at the end and her radio doesn't work my first thought was where was her phone? And then she gets a call and it's stuck in her damn waistband! She could've called ahead while she was driving and told them the general direction she was heading. Then she's up against an armed subject and she has no weapon. I know she's supposed to be trained in investigation but in some areas she seems really dense and slow to catch on. Very frustrating in how they've crafted this character - sleeping with married men but won't budge the moral line in other areas?
Whitechapel: Episode #4.4 (2013)
Sigh
Maybe it's just me, but these have got to be the worst detectives I have ever seen. The DI (Detective Inspector) is supposed to mean that Chandler has special investigative skills above a normal officer however he never shows especially in this episode. He knows that Ed has been kidnapped by a spree killer that has murdered several individuals but he enters the warehouse, alone, and starts calling out Ed's name. SMH then to make matters worse he sees Ed tied up but doesn't think to secure the area or even wonder where this crazy killer is? I mean come on, who is writing this stuff? And why are the killers always more heavily armed and able to fight back and no one on the team is ever able to defend themselves in a fight? At least give the main character some sort of common sense and skill set aside from weird OCD habits and ticks that couldn't save anybody. *insert eye roll and heavy sigh*
Whitechapel: Episode #2.1 (2010)
On the fence...
While I like the premise of this series I'm starting to get really tired of what I can only call incompetence or lack of training on the part of the whole team. They seem woefully unprepared for these cases and tasks, do not communicate with each other to share information, walk into situations and scenes touching evidence without gloves or back up and fail to pick up on obvious clues or shady characters. And do they even carry weapons because I haven't seen anyone with the means to protect themselves, let alone the public they are supposed to be serving. And how did they not think to check for bugs after Kent was attacked? It was clear the construction people were not official. So many holes in this storyline, if not for the villains and gory action this series wouldn't be worth watching due to bungling nature of the team.
