Plagi Breslau (2018)
The Writers Have A Lot of Life Learning To Do
The most ludicrous stupid characters. A female cop who idiotically makes her hair fall onto her face and then leaves it there while she resentfully talks!...why resentfully?.....and talks deliberately very low at that? (why so low!), cursing at everyone and everything. She's got a blatant 'I'm a victim' mentality. As does her dog-rough male partner angrily barking and cursing his way into scenes. wtf. The pathologist was another total joke, a large woman (*not young) arriving in red high heels, a teenagers denim jacket and half her cleavage and bra exposed..why!?... as she angrily spat out her words, also full of curses! All of them acting like the most obnoxious, low life, hate filled teenagers. wft? I myself curse but I had to turn this off after about 15 mins in There's a way to make characters tough, angry, curse etc but have dignity and likeable class about them. These writers need to discover how to do that.
Sinister (2012)
Not perfect but close.......Definitely well worth a look.
This is a really good film, good plot, good choice of 'murderer' and good idea for the Evil What/Who that possesses the 'killer'. I actually hadn't figured out who it was....which is a hard thing for a film maker to pull of...so, that's a huge bonus. There's lots of tension and creepy atmoshpere in the film, the brilliant soundtrack aiding that, so if that's what you're looking for you'll get lots here. I didn't give the film a 10 because the director/writer got the 'murderer' to act way too clichéd..?!! The over-acting is so hard to ignore it takes away from the impact. I'm also taking a point off for the scene where a thick branch of a tree is sawn off - from a distance - by someone using a little saw at the end of a long long handle! An impossibility. Also, though the characters bickered like any family, I didn't feel that these 4 individuals were family. There are a few more bad bits that I could point out but...let's get back to a major good point...the film left me wanting more. What's the story behind the evil Who/What....why did the killings begin...etc. So yeah I do want to see ''Sinister II'...even though sequels are never as good, but,...well, you never know...let's give it a chance. Altogether one of the better horrors I've seen in a long time. I'd give it an 8.5. Enjoy!
Carnage (2011)
Ridiculously NOT believable
I love the cast but I can't even say their acting was good because the whole premise of the story is so false it's impossible to take them and the film seriously. I don't even see how it was taken seriously as a stage play! Established actors always amaze me how they will say any lines they're given no matter how unconvincing the lines are. And they act out whatever they're told to act out no matter how illogical the storyline is. Why would a couple continue to stay at the home of another couple 'by choice' if the hosts fight and argue with them over and over again? Why would a character talk to his colleagues on the phone about sensitive business issues in front of the couple who is arguing with him? I'd understand if the setting were a situation in which both couples had no choice but to stay and listen to each other..like on a boat for example. Why didn't the visiting couple believably and logically go home, by choice..walk away from the arguments! The whole thing is so ridiculous it was painful to watch. Especially Jodie Foster's over-acting. As bad as her under-acting in her court room scene in 'The Accused'.
