Christmas Island (2023)
Exceptional Christmas Movie
Most of the Christmas movies so far this year have been embarrassingly poor. Leave it to Andrew Walker to turn that around fast. This is a good, old fashioned, feel good, Christmas movie about family, friends and the unique magic of the Christmas season. Always with Andrew Walker, the magic starts with him. He is an exceptional actor that brings to his roles a down to earth honesty, a genuine caring you can feel throughout the movies he acts in. In Christmas movies, maybe more so. You just want someone like him in your life....and if you are really lucky, during the Christmas season. He is the real deal. His acting seems effortless. Along with him, in this movie, all the other actors, from top to bottom, the father, Christmas Island family, the "stranded lost family"...the town...all bring tangible warmth and caring to their roles. You want to stay in this town. You want to spend Christmas with all of these people. You want Christmas to be like their Christmas. What more could you want from a Christmas movie.
This is one of the best Christmas movies, so far in 2023...and even more ...for the last few years.
Christmas at Castle Hart (2021)
Two Stories
.....too bad the writers felt they needed to weave in a subplot built on false backgrounds and work experiences for the leading characters. The primary story ....the primary actors....the locations....all were terrific. There were countless other ways to explain the sisters involvement other than base it on exaggerated, made up stories. Why?
Great characters....beautiful scenery.....wonderful supporting cast......an above average hallmark Christmas movie....a shame they needed to rely on the truest characters resorting to false lives.
At Middleton (2013)
Sequel Please
....this is a simple.....surprisingly moving and touching story brought to life by two wonderful actors.
Now.....It needs a sequel.
Seven Days in Utopia (2011)
Wished there was an ending
Excellent movie......wonderful story line.......plus Robert Duvall ....what else could you want in a movie.
Duvall is always near perfect in his roles.
....but... it really needed an ending. You just cannot have this kind of movie without any ending. I know some will say that is exactly the point....but ....this is a movie that one shares with its characters...makes the journey with the characters ....and then.....what? I'm sure there could have been a way to still deliver the message but allow the viewers and the characters to share an end to the story.
