I was so stunned I couldn't move.

Angels in America is nothing short of a masterpiece. It touches a lot on politics and religion, which I know some have found offensive, but I for one tend to see shows for the story, script and acting, all of which for me create massive atmosphere in themselves, and all of which created a very strong atmosphere in Angels of America.

Imagine sitting down with a blank piece of paper and writing out the first synopsis for something huge like this and then years later to see how amazing it has become. The story is complex but understandable, sad but funny, intertwines realism with escapism and deals with important issues. The scenes involving the characters with AIDs are often hard to watch but very touching, and all the character's different takes on race, religion and politics and how they bicker over them are very interesting and done with fine acting. The acting is wonderful to watch. I was expecting it to be good, what with Meryl Streep, Al Pacino and Emma Thompson in the cast, but then comes along Justin Kirk as Prior who I have never seen before and absolutely blew me away, and Jeffrey Wright who I didn't even recognise. The rest of the cast were just as believable in their roles.

What probably stunned me the most though, was the script. To be able to write dialogue like that is a talent to be proud of. You need to be a great actor to do justice to such great writing.

I think it's pretty obvious that I loved Angels in America. I found it poignant, interesting and thought-provoking. I'm not going to mince my words here, people:
