Unthinkable (2010)
How far would you go?
I found this movie to be interesting on a few levels. The "H" character was done well by SLJ and the FBI role was also done well by CAM. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two characters. As I was watching the movie I was thinking to myself what would I do if I were either character? Would I be the necessary sadist or would I be the idealist and small voice of reason? I think Martin Sheen was very believable too. I did not initially have high hopes for the movie after I had to abandon watching "The Bricklayer" but I got more and more attentive as the "clock" was winding down. The ending was enjoyable for me as well.
X (2022)
YESSSSSSSSS
I wanted to see this movie for a bit and luckily now included with P+. I loved the throwback atmosphere and style and overall I think it was shot very well. The kills scenes are fantastic and big props to Mia for playing two roles. Kid Cudi absolutely killed his part. Overall I think the actors made this movie as good as it came out. This is a true example of how to cast a movie. Cant wait to see "Pearl" for the origination story and this did a good job of setting up the prequel. Watch if you want an awesome throwback to the golden era of slasher/horror movies. Big props to TI West for making another great movie!!!
Infinity Pool (2023)
HAHAHHAHA......nope
The people who try to prove they are the smartest people in the room are often not the smartest people in the room. This film is allegedly a horror/thriller per the streaming service but fails to deliver in either genre. I knew I was in trouble when after 20mins into the film I did not care about any other characters and had looked at my watch multiple times as I was bored. If the film crew had tried to make an actual horror or thriller film I think that could have worked but by trying to "outsmart" the audience I think they did the same to their actors who tried their best but could not make up for a dismal film directed by someone who happens to have a daddy that has an AMEX black card and was told the had talent.
The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023)
Just doesn't work
Watched the premier and had an open mind as I was not sure how this dynamic between Maggie and Negan would work and was uncertain as to the actual goal/point of this series would be. I started to get a little "meh" after Maggie killed a walker with what should have been a highly sensitive spotter scope even though she had other tools available. The the whole "trick you at a bar" scene was rather underwhelming. The pair just doesnt work well together as Maggie burns her eternal hate for Negan and he rightly puts her in her place with the whole "murder question" banter. The Marshals and the Croat and victims of lazy writing. Overall I loved the original TWD but this seems to be a show written about a show that someone watched that one time and said "I can do that"
Girl from Nowhere (2017)
A little slow but not as bad as expected
Found this movie this morning as I was unable to sleep and hopped on Tubi looking for a decent movie. The review score was not that high but I took a chance. This movie was good overall. I think the scenery was the best overall aspect of the film. The cast did as best as they could, and the end felt rushed and an almost "well, we are out of money" situation. The character of Liza did the best overall but the male actor did well if he was attempting to portray an idiot.
Overall, I would recommend to watch if you find yourself with nothing else left on your catch-up list or want to take a chance.
Halloween Ends (2022)
Very disappointed
Having grown up on the films I am usually excited to finally see the new ones when they hit the theater. This "movie" was a very huge disappointment. It felt like the production teams did not know what kind of movie they wanted to make and the overall film felt disjointed. If this is indeed the final Halloween movie then everyone involved with the film did a disservice to Michael Myers.
Do not see this movie if you have enjoyed all the previous ones. You would do better to kill a 12 pack of beer, sit at your dinner table, and bang out your own conclusion rather than spending too long in the theater sitting through this cluster.
The Gray Man (2022)
200m for average movie
Think this movie could have been done for a lot less. The action scenes were "too" over the top to be believable. I wish it could have been more concise, but the casting was decent. I actually thought the main actors other than the COS was decent. Movies like this are why the subscription prices keep going up for lesser content (the overseas content is the only reason my subscription is still active).
Pieces of Her (2022)
Should have done better with casting
The daughter killed this show for me. I think she is a Summa graduate from the "84 Lumber" school of acting because she was horrible. I think had that role been cast better and with the good performances from the other actors this show would have been decent.
In from the Cold (2022)
Nice average little drama
Suspend disbelief and just enjoy. I found this show to be an average spy drama with unique aspects. The scenery was nice, and Madrid looks amazing. The cutback scenes were decent and I found them more intriguing than the main story line. If you are an insomniac like me just throw it on and enjoy but don't think you are getting a "Bourne" level experience. Minus 5 for all the wokeness.
Woke Checklist: Evil white guys, blood money/exploiting people in the past, White guilt,Nationalists are evil, victims of crime from illegal immigrants should get over it.
No Time to Die (2021)
Finally an end to a horrible Bond chapter
Didn't expect much as the "Craig" Bond films have left me disappointed. The plot of the movie was the most interesting, the scenery was the best character, and the ending was what I hoped for. Overall if you have some time to kill watch it just so you can say you have seen all the Bond films.
Interceptor (2022)
#woketard
Too many woke issues, and definitely nepotism at its worst. Would have been good had they not tried to tell me that all white males are the worst people in the world.
Backwoods (2008)
What you would expect
I saw this picture this morning and was not disappointed or surprised. It was exactly what you would think from a made for tv horror movie. Editing was poor, characters were meh, and overall experience was not worth the waste of home internet data usage.
The Horde (2016)
Better than expected, good kill scenes
Recommended to me by the Amazon Prime Video genie. Wasn't expecting too much as it seemed like "another" wrong turn type of picture and it is. Good kill scenes with some decent CGI for the budget. That main actor was JACKED AF! I hope I have half that muscle tone at his age. Would recommend if you got some time to kill and want to be entertained.
Candyman (2021)
Visually great, woke story line ruined it for me
Loved the original and still believe one of the best horror films of all time but this one killed it with the wokeness. Visually it was phenomenal and really enjoyed the "puppet" scenes, and the kill scenes were AWESOME!!!!!
Bosch: Legacy (2022)
Hell Yessssssssss
Streamed all 4 episodes this morning and LOVED IT!!!! I really enjoyed how the characters were developed and had a lot of growth after season 7. I am also enjoying seeing Bosch without a badge but still getting the job done. I think the Maddie storyline will also be interesting to see if she falls in line with the "everybody counts or nobody counts" philosophy that her dad did so well. Cant wait for next weeks episode!!!
Control Z (2020)
Love it
Found this on my perpetual Spanish language Netflix rabbit hole and was pleasantly surprised. The story line was interesting but if you pay attention, you will be able to tell who the "hacker" pretty early, but it didn't detract from the overall viewing.
Into the Dark: Crawlers (2020)
Way better than expected
Recommend to my by the HULU robots this morning and I was not expecting much. I did like other films in this series like tentacles but some other ones fell flat. The main characters did such a good job interacting and the dialogue was spot on. I think the ending was the weakest part but did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the film. Definitely recommend if you like dark comedy-horror themed films.
Bayou Caviar (2018)
Expected more
Found this as it was recommended to me by a streaming service and thought it sounded good. Going by the cast and the location ( i live outside New Orleans) I was expecting this to be a great little film. Overall I think this film contained two fatal flaws with the first being how the film tries to be too clever with how the story-line is presented and the script just wasnt good. I wanted this to do well but I do think the best part of the film was the actual scenery with the graveyards/bridges/downtown. Watch if you have nothing else to do but avoid unless you have insomnia.
Feria: La luz más oscura (2022)
Great little show
I found this series to be very entertaining, some points dragged on, but for the most past I couldn't stop watching. The plot along with the characters kept me engaged. I highly recommend and am looking forward to season two.
Archive 81 (2022)
Great show that makes you think
Thoroughly enjoyed this show. I think all of the characters were developed enough for their roles and the whole time-space continuum portions were done well. If you want to watch something that makes you think and pay attention while at the same time entertaining you then I would highly recommend this. Hope there is a season two as the ending was fantastic!
Apex (2021)
Bruce Willis walking through the woods with recycled plot
This was hard to watch. The plot was recycled but was less than origin movies. Somehow now the hunters lose focus on their target? Glad I found as my insomnia kept me awake but this one put me to sleep.
Host (2020)
Nice little low budget horror film
Found this by accident and really enjoyed it. I think the cast did well in conveying their fears/happiness throughout. The premise intrigued me with
the whole zoom/seance plot. Definitely recommend if you got an hour to kill.
Brotherhood (2006)
Found by accident and not disappointed
Think this show was done well. The characters are fully developed and the minor characters dont disappoint. Definitely worth a watch and the atmosphere is nice too. I think the best perspective of the show is the "good" brother doing things vs. The "bad" brother doing things even though they have the same interests but seek resolution for their issues via different methods.
De Oost (2020)
Intense action movie
Found this by accident on a streaming service and it did not disappoint. The character development was strong, the action sequences were nice, and the ending was phenomenal. The old colonial/imperial theme was nice as well and added a lot to the story line. Highly recommend.
We Still Kill the Old Way (2014)
Loved it, great action
What do you get with a bunch of old guys avenging another old guy? An awesome movie. Action sequences were great and I loved the subtle commentary on the current generation. Definitely worth a watch!!
