The Martha Mitchell Effect (2022)
She told the truth about Nixon, and was kidnapped, drugged, and held prisoner
Say what you will, but Martha Mitchell was a woman of her time. The 1970s were a completely different time in history for women. Most women were relegated to just being hostesses for their husbands political parties. Women were supposed to be seen but not heard. If any political conversations went on, the women were not involved they were relegated to another separate room. Martha Mitchell did not fit this type cast of a woman. She did not hold her tongue when it came to her opinions. She, along with her husband John Mitchell (later went to jail for organizing the Watergate break in) ran the campaign to reelect President Nixon in 1972.
Martha Mitchell broke the Watergate story. She was held prisoner in a hotel suite in California, drugged, made to appear mentally ill by her own husband and Richard Nixon and his crooks.
We owe a lot to this woman for her bravery to not be silenced. Yes, she drank a bit much, but that doesn't make her unusual for the women of the 70's. It certainly did not make her unpopular. The press loved her. Nixon avoided the Press like the Plague. He was a crook and he was laid open into the light by Martha Mitchell who suffered from financial, social and personal tragedy. In the end, from one woman to another I can say she hasn't gotten nearly enough credit for bringing down an entire corrupt President and All of His Men. Thank you Ms. Mitchell.
Being Serena (2018)
Great show! Inspiring!
Being Serena .... Excellent show. Watched all Episodes at once.
As a woman who experienced a very difficult birth as well as difficult recovery for my baby and myself, it's painful to watch as Serena pushes herself surrounded by her all male coaches who haven't the slightest idea how to help her with her post pregnancy issues.
First of all, the woman is experiencing fear and anxiety. Anxiety all through her pregnancy, wedding (not so much), her baby's birth, and post partum life threatening complications.
She really needed to take time off for herself for about a year at least.
The hormonal adjustments her body was experiencing along with trauma made me feel for her as only another woman can who has experienced this.
She had some of the best coaches, but I think she could have been helped more by getting therapy to control her anxiety and fears. Being in a constant state of I'll ease releases cortisol. Her body was working against her will.
To top it off, posing to her as one coach did that 'she wasn't trying hard enough' made me want to jump into the screen and beat that guy up.
I admire her courage, her will. There was no way other than to let her rest for her to recover.
It's just sad she couldn't do that.
Serena is still my hero and will always be an encouragement in my getting my own health back.
Svetlana (2010)
Best sitcom sincecRenob91! ....Iris Bahr is Genius!!! How did I miss this show?
Where are you now Iris Bahr?
Let's do something!!!
The show must go on!
Improv, script, wit, dialogue ...fantastic.
The play on Russian accent is wildly effective.
Nola.
Medicine Man (1992)
Liked the story EXCEPT for annoying FEMALE LEAD
Female lead voice and aging were so bad, ruined the entire movie for me. Kept wishing she'd get bit by a snake or eaten by an alligator or both.
Paradox (2018)
Waste of Time
Sorry folks, but just a pathetic piece of nothing, with a nothing plot, nothing actors, nothing cinematography.
Not even Willie Nelson or Neil Young could save it.
Not even the writer made a dent in the idiocracy of this film.
Nothing Nothing Nothing.
Where in the heck did all these 9 & 10 scores come from?
Sad.
Pathetic.
And hopefully Daryl Hannah will go back to what she does best - breaking up people's marriages. Sans Neil.
Des (2020)
A Must see. Best performances by all cast! ESP David Tennant.
Award winning drama. Great screenplay. Must see.
David Tennant is extraordinary in his portrayal.
Btw, SMOKING is a necessity for every cast member! Lot of cigarettes being consumed.
Watch it!
The Little Things (2021)
Slow, Stupid, Sloppy Screenplay
How can you take three academy award winners like Denzel Washington ,Rami Malek, and Jared Leto and come up with a loser? I'll tell you how. Terrible screen play, terrible writing, terrible editing.
Did I tell you that it's slow as molasses moving along and nothing to want to keep you there to watch it. Matter of fact, I got up and wash the dishes and came back while listening, and didn't miss a damn thing .
Not riveting not compelling makes no sense whatsoever, and a real waste of digital media.
The actors did the best they could with what they had and believe me they had not much to work with. Who is the Director anyway?
Very disappointed.
Your Honor (2020)
Fa-get-about it! So bad.
The only good thing about this show is that I get to see little glimpses of my neighborhoods. That's it.
The writer should have consulted somebody who was from New Orleans who is from New Orleans who could give him a clue about New Orleans, crime, my bosses, reality, screenplay writing. Oh, and dumb kids who have - Oh - Who have, "asthma" and who recklessly are searching for their inhaler while driving - and then accidentally kill a kid on a motorcycle and then go through the rest of the series like a dumb little 17 year old simpleton.
I'm guessing now I'm just guessing now that the writer is from the West Coast. Only a writer who's from the West Coast and may or may not be totally gay, and who got the job by well, let's say he's got a lot of money from some tech company he started and invested in the show. Well good luck buddy, you missed the boat.
Hate to be God awful Cad about it but nothing short of voodoo will ever give this show a second season. It's a damn shame because Bryan Cranston deserves a whole lot more than this.
Hope he's getting a big big big salary because this is a big big big flop.
Maybe the writer should have consulted Taylor Hackford who do you teach screen writing at University of New Orleans and who is in my opinion one of the best screen writers around. So dude do you self a favor look Taylor up.

Strange Angel (2018)
RENEW!! RENEW! CBS EXEC'S ARE IDIOTS!
The only reason I can see why this great show is not renewed is that CBS was, just like in one of the plots in the series, they felt religious pressure to kill it. Very sad if this theory is correct. If you've ever seen 'Cinema Paradiso' you'll see how the antiquated Churches/Religions have no place in making any difference when it comes to GREAT ART. And folks, this is GREAT ART. Lots to be learned and not for those religious lemmings who cast their influence over networks.
Get some balls CBS!
The only problem with the show is too many commercials. Otherwise, som of the best material, screenwriting, acting, directing. I'm done with CBS forcancelling this fine show.
Joker (2019)
AUDIENCE CLAPPED AT ENDING! IT'S A CLASSIC MOVIE NOW.
There are not enough awards from the Academy to give the actors, the writers, the producers, the cast, the crew for this movie.
Joaquin Phoenix played a complex character with so much ease. You FELT his pain, SYMPATHIZED with him. You wanted anyone who died in the movie to die because they sort of deserved it.
This movie is on my CLASSIC MOVIE list and will be watched more than once, twice and three times.
When an audience claps at the end of a movie, well, you know it's going to be up for all awards and win. Let's hope so anyway!
The China Hustle (2017)
CHINA IS A BIG PONZI SCHEME
Do you really know where your money is going in the stock market? Do you really believe the financial reports from the companies you are invested in?
Think Bernie Madoff, China style.
China is operating like The Wizard Of Oz of Wall Street in this movie. This movie makes is a revealing look behind the blue smoke and mirrors of Roth Capital Partners ..... crooks.
Great documentary. Watch it!
East Side Sushi (2014)
An Inspirational Film, Excellent Writing, Editing, and Cast
I saw this movie with about 7 new friends. I did not expect much. Boy, was I wrong! From the moment this movie started I identified with Juana (myself being a single mother) and how hard it was to move up in the business world. I remember being paid at least 25% less than men doing my same job (and I mean the EXACT same job).
This movie is a combination of the Karate Kid, Rocky, and a Cooking Contest. That may be oversimplifying it. Truly inspirational for anyone.
Good thing I remembered to grab a handful of Kleenex because I needed at least 3, the girl next to me and the girl next to her. There was even a guy sitting below us who was crying.
I liked everything about the film, the location specific aspect of it, the directing, writing, acting, and the excellent cast. Have recommended it to my friends to be on the lookout to watch back in my hometown of New Orleans.
Can't wait to go see it again.
