Project X (2012)

This actually could happen..
3 March 2012
Seriously, it could! The fact is nobody would have the balls to do it, and with good reason. This type of party is certainly achievable, sadly if it ever was achieved the repercussions would be even worse than those of the movie, but I digress. The thing that is pissing me off though is all the people hating on it because it is "over the top" or that it "sends a bad message". Of course it is over the top, that was the point. If you wanted to see some realistic party, you shouldn't have bought a ticket to Project X! Simple as that! Also, I would agree that it sends a bad message...but who freaking cares. Teenagers aren't stupid enough to be influenced by this movie into throwing some huge party, they've experienced bad enough stuff just at normal parties. I would recommend that anyone who wants to see this film goes in with an open mind, don't have any sorts pre-conceived notions about it when going in. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, it isn't supposed to be artistic or have some incredible story line, it is supposed to be fun! Project X is the greatest movie of its kind ever made, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes to party!!!

Excellent

When I went to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes at midnight I wasn't really sure what to expect. I sort of thought it would either be really good, or really bad, not in between. Luckily it was a very well done film. In a movie like this it is so easy to make it cheesy or stupid but they did a great job of keeping it somewhat grounded. I was constantly on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next and can honestly say I was never bored during the entirety of the movie. I'd say anyone who is a fan of the Apes franchise should see this movie, and would even take it a step further and say that anyone who is a fan of good movies should see it. Excellent film.

A total disaster
2 August 2011
The words above say it all, this film was a total disaster in every way. When I went to go see it with my young cousins I figured they would enjoy it and it might provide a few laughs for an older audience, I didn't laugh once. Even my three cousins (all under 8) didn't laugh. My 7 year old cousins even uttered the words, "That was stupid." as we walked out of the theater. I was very much inclined to agree with him, it was totally pathetic. Although I must admit that it was what I was expecting, but the children wanted to see it so I went, bit mistake. Save your cash people, don't go see this movie. In fact, don't even wait for the DVD...it's not even worth your dollar at redbox.

Why is this getting such good reviews?

Warning: Spoilers
When I walked in to see Captain America I wasn't expecting much, I've never been a huge fan of superhero movies. As the movie went on I was pleasantly surprised at first, I really liked the characters and thought "hey maybe this will be good after all!" and then it happened, Captain America threw his shield, it hit a bad guy, and it bounced back. At that point they lost me...as if the stupid red mask wasn't enough. There was no development for the love story between Steve and his little British dime. When he crashed at the end I simply found myself not caring at all. There is a reason superhero movies don't work, they don't feel real. The only ones that work is Christopher Nolan's Batman series, and these work because they make Batman vulnerable, you can relate to him by seeing his pain, Captain America didn't have that, I don't think he got a single scratch. It wasn't all bad though, Chris Evans did a good job, and so did Hugo Weaving before he took his mask off and showed his red face. Tommy Lee Jones provided a few laughs, but it just wasn't enough to make it a good movie. Was it a terrible movie? No. Was it a good movie? No. It was simply average, 6/10

Very well done

Warning: Spoilers
First of all I'd like to say I really enjoyed this film, the Potter series has never been perfect but I'd say this last one came pretty close to it. Being someone who was a big fan of the books there are some things I wish they hadn't left out or changed. I feel like they didn't do the deaths of Fred, Lupin, and Tonks justice. They simply showed each dead body for a few moments and kept on going. Another thing they left out was the centaur charge. Instead of including this heroic moment, they simply had Harry jump out of Hagrid's hands and run off...not in line with the book at all. Now hey, don't get me wrong, I know I just pointed out a few negatives but there were way more positives than negatives. The acting was great, the special effects were awesome, and you really walked out of the theater feeling a lot of closure. Everything just tied together, it was wonderful. The scene with Harry sending his children to Hogwarts was great, I was really glad they included the epilogue in the film. All in all, I would strongly recommend this movie to any movie goer, and any Potter fan for that matter so long as they don't mind a few tweaks from the book.
