Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
The redemption of the prequels.
This movie saved the prequel trilogy after a disastrous 2nd episode.
OK,so every scene is packed with story and development of the characters in them, with the exception of some fighting scenes - they play their part in building a truly epic scene for all the stuff that's going on.
Right, so far so good - but why isn't this a 10/10? First off: A total and utter miscast of Anakin Skywalker, really Hayden Christensen is beyond bad. His static acting and very one dimensional work with Anakin is tough to overlook. Anakin is the main protagonist and should be easy to connect with and as a viewer you should have an emotional connection to him. There is no bond at all, none whatsoever. Secondly: It really bugs me that battle droids have personalities and lines in the intro. It makes for a very cartoonish impression, which is very misplaced.
It's role as the connecting jigsaw piece is however a a job well done. It builds up nicely to the 1979 classic.
This might be the best of the prequels, it's at least far better than Ep. II, attack of the clones. (The Phantom Menace might be contesting for the sole reason that Hayden Christensen isn't in it!)
Cheers
Avatar (2009)
Just visuals
If you are a huge fan of 3D art and you like action-filled and spectacular shots with a camera - this is exactly what you're after. This is certainly what has made this; the worlds most expensive movie (i believe it was that at the time).
Right, so great visuals aside. This is as hollow as an empty jar with a pretty label. There's absolutely nothing new under the surface. Spending a ton of money on a movie and not coming up with a better plot is shocking. For those of you who grew up in the 90's or for other reasons have seen Disney's Pocahontas - there's nothing to experience from this film.
Watch this if:
- you love good looking flashy movies
- you love clichés
- you don't mind seeing a classic story in a modern context
- you liked Clash of the Titans
Steer clear of this if:
- you want to experience something new from your 3 hour investment.
- you expect a movie with a tolerable script

Funny Games (1997)
Hanake and his unfair lecture
If you, as an audiant, are ready to be treated like a child, in a very inappropriate setting for anyone (especially children) - then Funny Games is just what you are looking for. The critique of violence in media today is fair, although Haneke fails to acknowledge what role he himself is acting in this problem.
Funny Games has become an absolute hit in it's genre and has assumingly grown to be more popular than he'd first predicted. Mental, physical, really any form of terror you could imagine, is what this film is bathed in. Hanake is proving a point, that violence in media to day is excessive - that said Hanake is really just pouring gasoline on the bonfire.
A fair bunch of 'Funny Games lovers' (they're bound to exist somewhere) will claim that i don't understand what Funny Games is about - i believe i do - but then again how can i know that i do for sure... I believe that the film in general is misunderstood to be sophisticated when it really is just spoon feeding it's audience with a fairly simple message - wrapped up in some of the most intolerable suffering you as a film lover have had to endure. The cult status of this awful movie forces poor souls like myself to watch it, all just for this review to be justified.
I marked it as containing spoilers, because people who really don't know what they're going to watch when they pick up Funny Games, will think it's a fairly pleasant setting as the movie proceeds through it's short introduction..... From where the agony begins - or should i say "games begin".
1/10 - disgusting movie, nothing less, NOTHING more. I'd have to give it a point for it's sudden fiction-interference - that's a neat detail - won't save the flawful overall performance...

The Whole Nine Yards (2000)
It's not good, but
This movie is quite poor, in passages slow and quite unexciting and in general a quite poor actor performance, although a fair share of the cast are regarded movie stars. The plot and climax are both pretty, silly to say the least... HOWEVER all this being said it is most important for me too add that i somehow enjoy the movie. Some of the deliveries in the script are pretty funny and the whole situation built up around 'the tulip' (one of the main characters - portrayed by Willis) is very nicely depicted throughout the movie. The awkward and fearsome atmosphere is fairly well captured in the movie.
The movie in general doesn't contribute with that much, and it IS pretty poor in general. But i can't help to be entertained by it.
Try Seventeen (2002)
Protrays love beautifully
Elijah Wood does a terrific job in this movie! The only thing that shines brighter in this movie is how 'LOVE' is portrayed (i am absolutely fascinated by this part of the movie). Other than that, the movie is quite poor. Elijah Woods voice-over is a pretty decent addition, however the acting in general among the rest of the actors is not satisfying. Except from the main character this movie is pretty dull (ths might even have been on purpose, to state that the surrounding world is dull - i however don't think this is the case).
If you're not that critical with the technical details in a movie and seek a great love-film (i really dislike this concept normally - i was very surprised with this movie), then i highly recommend this movie!
Innovation: 2 - Acting: 2 - Directing: 6 - Elijah Wood: 7 - Overall: 4,25
Twilight (2008)
No character in any of the characters
The unlikeliness in this story simply is too high. Let's simply sum up the main lines in the two main characters: One of them is an ancient vampire, full of life experiences and cultural understanding very few people will ever obtain. The other is a teenage girl, with absolutely nothing in common with this ancient creature, however this is supposed to be the beauty in the story, (the VERY cliché-like model): The meeting of opposites. HOWEVER this attempt simply is too far out. ALSO, the characters don't evolve during the entire movie, (except they fall in love)... This movie basically contributes with nothing.
This is one of many modern vampire stories, where vampires co-exist with humans in modern society. The latest movie with an attempt at creating a REAL vampire (true to the vampire legend) was Van Helsing.
Twilight is a tier 5 chick flick, and just as horrible as titles such as 'mean girls' and 'sex and the city'.
Disaster Movie (2008)
The NO fun comedy
A comedy basically has one task: TO, BE, FUNNY. Disaster Movie doesn't even come close in succeeding in this seemingly simple task. This movie attempts at pretty much all the "Worst {insert anything}" categories you can imagine. However the one thing that shines the brightest on the peak of 'mount fail' is the indescribably horrible acting. If you've ever been to a low-budget amateur cabaret at your local school you've experienced far better acting than ANY performance in this movie. The actors do theirs to make this movie worse than any movie you would ever watch (possibly for the rest of your life). But they are not fully to blame, the directing of the movie, along with the manuscript makes it a nearly impossible task for any actor to preform well. (I thought i'd also mention that the storyline and plot rivals the acting, in being the worst aspect to this movie!)
I deeply regret watching this movie - so i decided to warn mankind. No living soul deserves to be dragged through this horrendous movie.
