Tower Heist (2011)

Michael Peña?

How the hell does this man have an acting career? Every single movie I have seen him in has been ruined by his "acting". For this movie, he couldn't have made it any better, but he didn't have go and make it even worse than it already was. Not only is he a bad "actor", from watching this, I've learned that he has the worst comedic timing of any non-comedian actor. His one-liners are horrid. To: Casting Director; Just cause he's Latino, doesn't mean he is funny. It's like he doesn't even bother to try to act. It's like when an actor in a movie plays a character that pretends to act badly. Sorry to just bash on him, but I have seen too many movies that he is in to not question why he is in them.

Oh, yeah.. Also, the movie sucked and stuff.

New Girl: Models (2012)
Season 2, Episode 5
8/10
Makes up for the horrendous "Neighbors" episode..
23 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I think I speak for all New Girl followers when I say that Neighbors was the worst episode in NG history, but this review is not about past mistakes. "Models" was a great episode to remind us of what NG can be. I was rolling on the floor laughing (literally). It was a bit of a hit-and-miss type episode, as many NG episodes are. I was crying from laughter at one point and then the following scene, I thought the joke went on for too long, throwing me out of the experience. Overall, I adored this one. Props to Jake Johnson and Zooey for being the high points. Jess stepping in for CeCe was brilliant. As was Nick's apology, being the best bit, mixing humor with heart as NG does so beautifully. Wholeheartedly recommend!

P.S. If you saw Neighbors, I apologize on behalf of the writing staff, but don't miss this one just because of that one disappointment.)

End of Watch (2012)
7/10
Pretty good cop movie with a heart
7 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, but just a couple things;

The Good: Well paced. Decent plot. Micheal Pena was a great comic relief. Solid performance from Anna Kendrick, surprisingly enough. Liked that the first quarter of the movie was like the show "Cops" and the main characters never got explanations for the things they saw (Example: Kids tied up in the closet) and I feel like that showed why Taylor needed to investigate the way he did later on in the film.

The Bad: My father is a cop and they Never call each other "partner", always first or last name (He said no one on the force ever calls their partners "partner"). Micheal Pena left much to be desired in the acting department.

Somethings that bugged me (Personal/Not necessarily "Bad" per say): During the final shootout, two AK-47s spray into Zavala who is kneeling, only covering 1/5ths of Taylor, but not one stray bullet hits Taylor? At least one person in both gangs recorded everything with camcorders, but not just camcorders, HD camcorders. <-(What was that about?) Didn't really buy that whole "I'm in a video elective class" thing. What was the point of the fight between Zavala and the gang guy? Zavala and Taylor are supposed to be good friends, yet they call each other "partner"? Jake just is not a very believable cop to me (I think they shaved his head to make him look more intimidating/masculine, but it didn't work).

Overall a good film even though it may seem like I didn't like it because the Bad/bugged me sections are bigger than the Good, I did.

Gossip Girl (2007–2012)
4/10
Just a waste of time.
29 September 2012
Let me just start by saying that I watched the Pilot of Gossip Girl because a friend recommended it and I only agreed because I knew Kristen Bell was the narrator. I hate not watching the entire first season of a show before I judge it because I feel like I walked out of a movie theater half way through (Which is such a stupid thing to do, if you do that sort of thing I have no respect for your opinion on movies). While Blake Lively may be a good actress, I could not stand her in this show. She seemed disconnected and maybe that was what they were going for, but it just seemed like bad acting to me. The entire plot seemed a bit non existent. Maybe you have to watch the whole season to get "hooked", but isn't that something a pilot should do? I think the whole "almost rape" thing was supposed to be a part of the hook, but I just didn't see it. Overall, I would have to say no. I did not enjoy this show, but I do not regret watching the pilot. Now I know to steer clear.
