I was hoping it was just a nightmare but......
5 July 2019
I was awake!!!! My God, what a deplorable calamity. I don't trust reviews on movies as much as I used to with so many positive reviews coming in from people linked to the project and negative reviews from people that think they are movie critics. I read all the negative reviews here and still continued to proceed and even buy the DVD!! This is the finest example where the negative reviews nail this movie to a tee. In fact its even worse than most of these negative reviews. One reviewer mentioned that Camille Keaton looked like she was fighting back laughter and that reviewer was right. The kidnapping scene in the car is one of the worst scenes of acting I have ever saw. Camille was just staring at the main antagonist without saying a word for what seemed like an eternity. Pay attention to that scene, it's that bad. The acting in this movie reminded me of that awful backwoods direct to video horror film released way back in 1987 called LunchMeat. Does anyone remember that film because the acting in this film is tantamount to that. I still can't believe this was the sequel to the GrandFather of exploitation revenge films. The remake and its two sequels can skate circles around this piece of dreck....An ignominious mess that has the feel of a brutal made for cable 90's soap opera....I cant think of one positive thing to say about this other than don't watch it. If you are in the mood for a modern revenge film check out the French film Revenge that was released last year or check out the 2010 remake which actually sports a higher IMDB rating than the 1978 original.

Be careful who you bring home to meet your kids!!
2 February 2019
I can't believe nobody has reviewed this film yet so I decided to chime in...It's been 3 years since my last review so you know we have something special. Wow!!! This film will strip the emotions off you and give you five across the eyes while doing it. It's one of those rare films that captures drama and horror together and inserts the rigors of these two aspects right smack in your face. The acting was quite good and the setting perfectly ominous and haunting. Does anyone remember Colleen Porch in the 2008 horror gem Baby Blues? Caitlyn Folley's performance is tantamount to that. She is the last person I want to bump into. Anyway, no spoilers here. Watch and be amazed. Also check out CrypticRock's Jeannie Blue review of the film. I agree with her a solid 4 out of 5

Avoid this!! It looks like everybody has.
6 March 2016
The film came out over two years ago and we don't even have one external review or one user review. That should be enough to warn any horror fanatic but not me I have to watch every possession film out there so here we go. The acting is some of the worst I have ever seen and trust me I have seen some God awful acting. Thank goodness after the opening couple of scenes the dialogue drops down a few notches and you can barely here what the hell is going on. Did something happen to their audio equipment?? Well when you spend 15,000 on a film (I believe that was the budget)you can't go back and fix these issues. Possession The Ingloda Within feels like a student film that plays out like a dramatic soap opera on TV. The banality of this trite spawned me to write my first review in 14 months. Avoid this and watch other supernatural gems like Dark Circles, Lovely Molly, House of the end of time and the Spanish Orphanage. You have been warned....

Slice (2009)

Shocking film right to the end!!!!
26 June 2014
I don't understand how this film passed me without me knowing about it in 2009. I guess the first problem is that the film's title has been used in countless films and TV shows that it would be easy to miss. Nonetheless I finally discovered it and I am glad I did. This film is raw, intense, nefariously debauched and very tough to watch. Filmed beautifully and yet weird at the same time, Slice is a film that demands your attention no matter how squeamish you may be. I found the film very sad as well which I thought added a different dimension to the macabre at hand. One of the better Asian horror films of recent memory. Watch slice if you can handle it because there are images on screen that will carve you out indelibly.

As bleak as it can get BUT I strangely liked it.
22 March 2014
I have come to love French horror films over the last 10 years. The French have really honed in on the sub horror genre of body horror. They did a delightful job with BabyBlood back in the early 90's and then really turned on the heat in the 2000s with terrific films like In my Skin, Martyrs, Frontiers and Inside. The French Canadians got involved with the morbidly tasteless cadavers in 2008 so I was very excited to embrace this new French Canadian film Thanatomorphose. I was impressed and the 100 minutes went by so quick considering the pace of the film. The gore and f/x were fantastic for the budget and the acting was great as well especially by our main lead. Yeah she could've done a few more things like call the bloody hospital but then we wouldn't be treated to such sanguineous delights. My main problem with the film is I wish they were speaking French instead of English but nonetheless there isn't much dialogue in this film. Not for most people but for people that enjoyed early Cronenberg or Clive Barker.

Congratulations Ohio!!!!
15 January 2014
Like the previous reviewer said "WOW"....this was a terrific little chiller that really hit a home run on the festival circuits, it appears. The cast was perfect and the director knew how to perfectly work with them. This film is sort of a supernatural I Spit on Your Grave. Now nowhere near the visual brutality of that film but definitely just as intense on a cerebral level. Now I have read reviews all over on this film and I have noticed the reviews that aren't so kind seem to state the lack of action/gore/sort of in your face horror. I also noticed a lot of the negative reviews in which the viewer didn't really understand the film. This notion seems to have happened a lot with this film. This is a thinking man's horror film so get your pensive ball-caps on and proceed. It is one of the best of its kind a la The Changeling style circa 1981. Enjoy!!!

bloody great time...
7 January 2014
ONLY 4 users IMDb for a great indie from down under. Wow, I can't believe that. This film is fantastic and as far as comedy horror is concerned, one of the best. You can rank this one right up there with Society, Sleepaway Camp 2, Some guy who kills people and the very underrated Chopped. Down under have really given us some great celluloid over the last 5 years or so and this film is no exception. The acting is the best I've seen for this kind of film and the special effects are great. 100 bloody acres is a cross between Lunchmeat/TCM and just about any roady horror film of the last 10 years or so but what I loved about this film was it didn't stop being fun. You actually like the characters and speaking of characters Ms. McGahan you are absolutely gorgeous......

4 Dead Girls and thats what we get here...
7 January 2014
Well here we go again another c grade horror film that will disappear into obscurity in say a month. Bad acting with risible dialogue is not my prescription for a good time. I knew I was in trouble as soon as the film started with some horrible special effects and some of the most cookie cutter characters. The director substitutes these two problems by tossing sex scene after sex scene after sex scene in which there was nothing sexy about those scenes. A lesbian couple that are so annoying and a priggish girl add to the broth that has boiled way over my patience level at this point. I love Indy films that are shot on a shoe-string budget ( Check out Family Demons from down under or the no budget film Evil Things to satisfy your c grade film thirst. )but this film doesn't hit any level and after I watched it, I have re-titled it 4 dead girls and 1 dead boy.......

Dexter (2006–2013)
10/10
Best TV show ever!!!
1 October 2013
Wow!!!!! How did I wait this long to watch this show. Two weeks ago my dad bought the first seven seasons of Dexter on DVD and I decided to give it a shot. All I can say is that it was the most addicting show I have ever seen. God I can't wait to watch the last season even though the reviews are average at best for the finale. I even shed tears on numerous occasions for certain characters, that's how attached I got to this series. In fact I felt like Dexter was apart of the family!!! Here is my breakdown. Season 1- Fantastic with the intro to Dexter. The Ice Truck Killer so riveting and intense. Love the ending.... Season 2- Better than the first, The Bay Harbour Butcher and Srg. Doakes. Lila a real Femme Fatal. Season 3- Slipped a bit here but nonetheless very entertaining. Didn't care much for Anton and the Skinner scenario. Season 4- WOW!!!!!! Not only the best season of Dexter but the best season of any TV show period!!!! The trinity Killer is the season and played with such amazing panache by John Lithgow. Trinity has redefined the serial killer moniker that was raised by Norman Bates and Hannibal Lecture....he is that good. The ending is the most chilling emotional moment I have ever experienced in TV/film. A masterpiece. Season 5- I loved this season which goes against the grain as most people didn't. What did you expect after the tumultuous denouement of Season 4. I feel if season 5 was anywhere else than after 4 people would've liked it more. All in all a fantastic season dealing with Dexter and fatherhood and healing. I loved lumen!!!! and the barrel girl gang for killers was chilling to the bone..... Season 6- Average at best. The doomsday Killer was doomed in my book right from the beginning. The least convincing antagonist in the series and by far the worst season of Dexter Season 7- What a comeback!!!! loved it all here. Hannah Mckay is Lila and Rita in one and Isaac is the most charismatic bad guy in the entire series. Loved the ending, almost as intense as the trinity finale. Here is my rankings.....4-2-7-1-5-3-6........

Sonny Laguna delivers again...
18 August 2013
I just loved the backwoods horror slasher film Madness and when I found out that this one was directed by the same director, I purchased it right away. What I love about Sonny Laguna's second horror outing is the love this man has for horror. This film has a very sleazy gory 70's grindhouse feel but with a touch of modern horror films like Cold Prey sprinkled all over it. The film looks gorgeous on DVD and it is hard to believe it only cost 5 grand to make. Terrific stuff here and we also have a great looking antagonist that can rival the best of them. Please Sonny make a sequel!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for Mr Laguna's next project Wither. It sort of looks like Sweden's take on Evil Dead.....

Reel Evil (2012)

Effective little surprise to the found footage sub-genre
23 July 2013
Really?????? 3.0 out of 10 IMDb. After watching some God-awful found footage films like Episode 50, Back from Hell, Bucks County Massacre and Knock Knock 2 it was nice to embrace another gem. You can line Reel Evil next to other greats of the sub-genre such as Evil Things, Evidence and Crowsnest. This film had great acting for this type of film, FANTASTIC location in a real insane asylum in Los Angeles and some nice chills packed into a tight 72 minute creep-fest. My only problem with the film was the last five minutes but I am willing to forget about that and give Reel Evil a solid 7 1/2 out of 10. As a side note there was another horror film released in 2006 called Boo that was filmed in the same hospital.

The nadir of survival horror/torture porn....
20 July 2013
I have seen some great survival horror films over the last few years, Resurrection County, Frontiers, Rogue River, I spit on your grave ( 2010 ) and Eden Lake to name a few. This one is the low point of this horror sub-genre. The acting and locations were good, it was just nothing scary about our antagonists. No back story, no character development and no suspense to speak of. Dull and boring that seemed longer then its 82 minute running time. I didn't buy into any of this and the ending is sooooo transparent and you can feel it coming from a mile away. If your lucky stay miles away from this film. Garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dreary and Enervated.........
25 June 2013
I really like the setting in this film. The filming locations were just breathtaking and lush. Too bad the rest of the film couldn't compliment the mood the setting could've created. The acting was annoying and any attempt to try and creep us out was vanished from this film. First of all the film has false advertising with some women possessed and crawling on the ceiling. Dismiss the cover art folks because after the film was completed, I am still trying to find this scene. In fact there really are no possession scenes in this film at all. A lame attempt on Italy trying to cash in on the found footage genre and it fails miserably. I know the Italians have had a recent resurgence of late trying to get back to the glory days of the 1970's but sorry Italy, France has taken over.

Garbage!!!!!
22 May 2013
I loved the original, the Tobe Hooper sequel has grown on me over the years. Leatherface 3 was God awful and the next generation was probably the worst the entire series. Now for the three new ones of the last decade, the 2003 re-boot was okay and I thought the 2007 prequel to the re-boot kicked ass and loved it. It was the second best next to the 1974 classic so I thought this might follow in the same footsteps.......ooooh I was wrong This was GOD AWFUL and it should've went straight to DVD and not to the theatre. What were they thinking, every horror movie cliché out there is in this film. What bothered me the most was that it had 0 suspense 0 scares 0 creation. The twist can be figured out in the first 10 minutes and leatherface just looked like a shadow of the leatherface from 2003/2007.

solid effort in the found footage sub genre but you need patience....
5 May 2013
If you have worked a long day or just simply feel lethargic, please stay far away from this film. Skew is extremely languid but with a purpose. The slow tension just builds and builds until beguiling results are achieved. It's not really a found footage film, it's more like just a hand-held pov type film. The acting is very good for the budget and the limited special effects are well done. It's not quite as good as Evil Things or Evidence but it definitely has a leg up on 75% of this found footage sub genre. So if you are insipid please grab a cup of strong starbucks coffee ( ask for Candace ) and give this one a shot because the results are palatable.

Simply Awful
28 April 2013
I am usually a cheerleader for this kind of film. I mean it bloody pom poms and all when it comes to torture porn but unfortunately this film was a complete flop. My main issue with Vile is that the actors reactions to the torture that was about to explode just didn't match the carnage and the pain they should really be feeling. I mean come on some of the acting was so bad, the dialogue so risible and some of the most inane decisions being made sink this film faster than the titanic. In fact very rarely do I turn a film off and this one I did at the one hour mark. Please avoid this film unless your into bad actors getting killed in horrific ways under a cheap hostel type vibe.

the definition of Average
23 April 2013
This film started out very exciting and than slid into one of the most average films I have ever seen. There was absolutely no surprises in this film whatsoever. The acting was excellent and the UK setting was just perfect but nothing is really happening other than the obvious. One of the most forgettable french films I have seen in the last 10 years. I did like the main character and I think if he was given more to work with, this could've been a terrific acting performance but unfortunately it was just average at best. Skip this one and watch Tell No One or Anthony Zimmer instead. Make sure it is Anthony Zimmer though and not that horrible remake with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp called the Tourist.

Vincent D'Onofrio deserves an Oscar
16 April 2013
One of the best horror films of 2012 comes to us via Anchor Bay with one of the most haunting performances of the decade by Vincent D'Onofrio. Serial killer films are a real hit or miss and this one hits the bullseye all over the map of Saskatoon. Fantastic performances all around and I have to give director Jennifer Lynch high praise for raising the bar on this misogynistic killer/thriller. I love when female directors tackle these subjects, they just tend to deal with them a little more subtle than our male counterparts. Instead of painting the screen completely red we are treated to delirious flashbacks, incestuous and licentious acts of depravity and child abuse. All done to compliment the plot and not just there for the gratuitous violence and gore.

Asylum Blackout (I) (2011)

I really wanted to enjoy this
13 April 2013
I just love films set in a dilapidated derelict insane asylums/prisons. In 2001 Session 9 just creeped me into session 10. In 2008 Finland gave us an interesting offering with Skeleton Crew and a year later Afterdark brought us Asylum which was a little funny but none the less scary. So when I finally got my hands on this one I was very excited. The excitement lasted 5 minutes....... The acting was awful by the main group of protagonists and for such a large facility why the hell were there only 2 or 3 security guards. Add to this temerity that an insane asylum for hardened criminals doesn't have a back up power supply for I don't know MAYBE a power outage. Wow it was all so over the top and than add in that the cops don't show up until the end........Come on here guys!!!! a beautiful haunting setting put to waste by lazy film making.

Now this is HORROR!!!!!
13 April 2013
When I first watched inside back in 2008 I was blown away by its relentless nature. I watched it last night for the first time since and I have to say I enjoyed it more the second time around. The first 20 minutes are absolutely haunting and if you have a hard time getting thru the first 20 than shut your DVD player off because the next 60 minutes are some of the most disturbing scenes of body horror you will ever witness. Beatrice Dalle should win every horror film award imaginable for this terrifying performance. You can put her in the same category as Hopkins/Silence of the Lambs, Jack Nic/Shining and Colleen Porch's jaw dropping performance in Baby Blues......Flawless!!!

I finally watched this.......
31 March 2013
I used to laugh when friends and girlfriends over the years watched these animated films but since I've turned into a daddy in 2008, I've sort of been forced into watching. Enough of that lets get to Finding Nemo. I LOVED it!!!!! what a great film to watch with my four year old son. It was perfect two boys watching two male fishes in search of each other. It was just a perfect viewing.I just love how the daddy of Nemo just wouldn't give up his search for his son. It was very sweet and I will say a couple tears did flow down my cheeks. My son caught the tears and said "Daddy why are you crying". Great stuff and a viewing experience never to be forgotten. Thanks Pixar!!!!!

Australia hits a home-run......
31 March 2013
I was completely enthralled by this film from beginning to end. The opening shots of the arid landscapes across rural Australia were just gorgeous and the two leads were casted perfectly. The film starts very similar to Jeepers Creepers and 2008's Aussie debacle RoadKill but quickly turns into something much more than that. We have a dilapidated motel on tap with a motel manager that looks eerily similar to Nick Nolte. Once the couple get to their room the real fun starts as the film makes a complete left turn and a turn that I didn't see coming. From here on the film belongs to the female leads as they struggle for survival. I will not give anything away here, all I am saying is watch this film. You will thank me later.

hasn't aged well...
30 March 2013
I can't believe its been a decade since this films original release. Where did the time go!!!! I saw this twice in the theatre in 2003 and really enjoyed it. I decide to watch it on DVD the other day for the first time since and I was underwhelmed. It just wasn't that good. I mean compared to the the last 3 Fridays and 3 nightmares this was Oscar worthy but thats not saying much. The absence of Kane Hodder is evident and the new Jason just didn't work for me. Great idea in terms of the plot and it was filmed almost on the same block as Trick or treat here in Vancouver but it just didn't hit the mark for me. The biggest shock about this film is that it made 82 million dollars and there hasn't been a sequel. The two biggest sequel franchises combine there efforts, make a ton of money and no sequel. Perplexing to say the least.

First Wolf Creek than Storm Warning now Dying Breed
27 March 2013
LOVED IT!!!!!!! Australia/England/New Zealand are learning from their euro/Asian counterparts how to make horror these days. This film is downright terror. We have the usual ingredients on board like strangers going into an inbred local bar/ meet weirdos/ violence ensues and the calamity begins. This film sort of incorporates backwoods/torture porn/cabin fever style horror and blends it all in and explodes out with its own kind of identity. Not as good as Wolf Creek and Storm Warning but just as alarming. For all of those who enjoyed The Hills have Eyes and the torture porn flicks, I think this one will stick with you long after the credits roll.

Kane Hodder is here!!!!
27 March 2013
Jason's appearance in this film is by far the best of the series. The zombiefied Jason created in part 6 has been taken to new heights in part 7. The new blood is the same film as the final chapter 4 years earlier. The only difference besides Jason's zombie look is the MPAA. This film is bloodless!!!!!! If you haven't seen part 7 since the 80's or 90's watch it now. It is like watching Little Rebecca on Sunnybrook Farm compared to horror of today. In fact besides the great sleeping bag kill, I don't think they show another killing. Everything is cut to shreds and you will find more blood in your next paper cut than in this film. A young Terry Kiser and Lar Park Lincoln steel the show.
