Chicago P.D.: Safe Harbor (2024)
White Supremicst did it! No, bad cop did it! please.
On tonight's very special episode of Blossum...retch. Feels like an after school special at times. True, there is no such thing as an "illegal human" but there is such a thing as an "illegal immigrant" or "undocumented alien".
When will this show get back to full crew case solving. The last few episodes seem to be single person cases with the rest just on the periphery. One featured mainly Hailey, one featured Ruzek. A LOT have featured just Kim. When will it be Atwaters or Hanks turn, or the new guy that is barely in it anymore, Torres?
NBC/Dick Wolf writers need to step up there game and get back to a good police procedural. Please...
Chicago Med: What Happens in the Dark Always Comes to Light (2024)
New doctor makes this unwatchable
Hopefully new doctor Dr. Ahmad does not last long. She makes me cringe every time she appears on screen. Her smugness, "I know better than anyone else" attitude makes me want to switch channels and watch reruns of ER. I know this is TV fantasy land, as the NBC/Dick Wolf writer see it, but in real life she would have been fired for posting about her work place without official permission. I read about that in the news all the time, right or wrong you are still an employee. But in TV land the company caves and she will probably promoted to department head by the end of the season.
Where was Dr. Archer? Still recovering from his transplant surgery i assume. Feel bad for Maggie, rough couple of years. Wedding bells for Ms. Goodwin?
FBI: Most Wanted: Clean House (2023)
Tired of being preached to...
The "publicity stunt" comment by Gaines, "say her name" by Barnes, and a few other tells me this is an agenda driven episode by the CBS writers. I do not want an after school special or a "very special episode" on my crime dramas. Just show the case and solve it, please. Maybe it is a good thing the writers are on strike? Wonder if AI writers could do better?
I am sorry they were not able to save Xiomara, sad ending. But at least they caught the guy(s) that did it to her. Wonder if the complicit housekeeping manager would be charged?
And I hope this search for Scott's brothers killer does not drag on. I really hate it when shows drag out the side stories too long. Keep the hunt short and sweet, please. Like end it in the season finale next week.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 22: Guns for Hire (2023)
Jack Blak + Lizzo = failure
Jack Black is past his expiration date. Lizzo cannot act (stick to singing, please). This just added up to a dismal failure. The story line was just filler, seemed to be used to stretch out the season to 8 episodes. The whole droid bar, chase through the loading docks seemed non-essential.
The only good part was the last few minutes with the other Mando's and the mercenary camp. And the fight over the Dark Saber. I guess it sets up the last two episodes. I just cannot motivate myself to watch those two. After this episode, to me, future seasons are in doubt. Maybe The Mandalorian has run its course and should sail of into the universe...
Chicago P.D.: Trapped (2023)
Poor Burgess...
She is becoming the Sgt Olivia Benson of Chicago PD. She has been shot, kidnapped, shot at, beaten, traumatized so many times, engaged to two officers, adopted a kid, etc. It is almost if the Dick Wolf writers need a punching bag for their shows. Any police force would have forced retirement on her (and Olivia).
The story lines this season seem focused on one team member and the rest of the squad are background, secondary characters. I miss the earlier seasons where the case the ENTIRE squad was working on was the main story line, not the character drama.
And what happened to Makayla? Who is watching her? She was seen in the beginning, but the case took at least a day.
FBI: Double Blind (2022)
I guess Maggie is finally coming back? Yay!
Since Nina (Shantel VanSanten) is transferring to white collar crimes, this makes way for Maggie (Missy Peregrym) to return. I half expected Nina to die once she announced she was pregnant. Sort of like the old trope where a cop announces he is retiring or getting married and he is the first to die.
This episode was a return to form for FBI. Hopefully FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted will follow suit.
Although the trailer/commercial gave a way a plot point and kind of ruined Scola's (John Boyd) concerns. Wish the powers that be would not do that. Only thirty nine more characters and i can post this review.
FBI: Most Wanted: Iron Pipeline (2022)
What a mess of an episode...
So many things wrong with this, where to begin?
These people sure travel around the south pretty fast. One minute they are on I-95 in SC, next they are in Henderson, NC. Travel from south GA to Philly, Delaware, Pittsburgh, etc. Seems to take only a couple of hours. I know in a few scenes they say take the jet, but most of the time they are seen driving. The magic of TV where everything is really close and you can always find a parking space directly in front of the exact building you need to go to.
The bad guy at the gas station fires an obviously fully automatic AR-15. You need a Class III license and have to pay a $200 tax to get one. I doubt if a south GA waitress has a Class III license to buy one from the local dealer. Creative license by the writers, I guess. Too many anti-gun tropes to list.
So now we are down to three agents (all female! Girl Power!) and the boss man. We have lost Nathaniel Arcand (my favorite), Kellan Lutz, Julian McMahon and now Miguel Gomez. Did they not like working on the show? Is this an indication of the show runner or writers not being good?
This very special PSA episode brought to by the Brady Campaign. Written by Bloomberg's "Everytown for Gun Safety".
Hopefully the rest of the seasons episodes are not as out right leftist political as this one.
The Orville: Future Unknown (2022)
Way too long and not about much.
Only good thing about this episode was Halston Sages appearance. The Moclans get way too much screen time this season. So does Dr Claire and Isaac. And then this, the last episode of the season is mostly about them. I had completely forgotten who Lysella was, since that episode was only 5 years ago. Took awhile to recall that story line.
But I guess it does make a good series finale.
Chicago Med: And Now We Come to the End (2022)
Deceptive trailer
The trailer for this episode indicated a dramatic, problem birth for Ms Goodwin's daughter. It looked pretty routine during the actual episode. Creative editing I think they call it. Plus I hate cliffhanger season enders. Chicago Med, I thought you were better than that. Or at least used to.
Chicago Fire: What's Inside You (2022)
Who needs SWAT? You have Firehouse 51.
Are we supposed to have sympathy for the criminal who: 1) took part in a robbery, even if he was only the driver 2) a felon in possession of a gun 3) responsible for the death of a person and serious injury to another, plus damage to the store and taking hostages.
And I had to laugh out load when the firefighters surrounded him and yelled "Don't shoot". Guess those call out jackets are bulletproof along with being fireproof. I now know all police are bad but firefighter are the real heroes.
This show has become a joke. Do they even go on emergency calls anymore? In past seasons they would have two or three calls a show. Now hardly anything. At least we did not have to put up with any Kidd/Severide drama.
Chicago Med: Judge Not, for You Will Be Judged (2022)
Chicago Med - where laws and patient wishes take a back seat to Doctors egos.
Do laws and rules not apply at Chicago Med? Patient wished be damned. Federal law be damned. I am a doctor and I will do as I please! Ms. Goodwin should have fired the ex-addict doctor immediately.
At least there was a group hug and everyone feels better at the end. Remember, feelings over all else.
Chicago Fire: The Missing Piece (2022)
I remember when the firefighters actually fought fires on the show.
I do not know if budget constraints have made the producers cut back on call outs or not. But they do not respond to fires like they uses to. Now it seems to be nothing but personal drama.
If i were Hermann I would be pissed Kidd got the truck lieutenant spot and not him. He is still stuck on engine. Seems seniority should come in to play. But I guess in this politically correct world we cannot have that.
And Brett leaving was a shocker. Like Chicago Med and PD, the writing and story-lines are definitely on the downswing. Thank God for re-runs.
Chicago P.D.: Gone (2022)
Not your typical chicago PD episode.
It seems like they should rename it "The Kim Burgess Show". Hank, Jay, Kevin and Hailey are relegated to supporting cast now. The show and story lines have definitely gone down hill this season. I guess I will catch the reruns from the good old days.
I was actually hoping they would kill off the Makayla character so this story line can be done with and could could get back to this being a police procedural drama.
FBI: Most Wanted: Run-Hide-Fight (2021)
Great episode, but...
This was a great episode and this type of story line is why I watch FBI: Most Wanted: Action, tension, inspiration, just enough but not too much family drama. Whats not to like?
I did take one star off for some of the implausible stuff, like other reviewers have mentioned. It did seem to take a while for the agents to jump into action after hearing the gunshots. And there were only four doors into the mall? Our local mall has at least 6 public mall entrances, a dozen or so anchor store entrances, plus 6 or so employee and staff entrances throughout the complex. And the mall did not seem that crowded for it to be the holiday season. Our mall is packed.
Chicago P.D.: A Way Out (2021)
Is Halstead the new Olinsky for Voight?
Very good episode. I like the fact that Halstead told Voight that Chicago needs cops like Voight. And that Halstead was willing to get "dirty" to protect his family (Intelligence unit) and Haley (the new Mrs. Halstead!). Maybe Halstead will be willing to bend the rules a little in future episodes, or at least more so than before. He has definitely changed since the first episodes.
I took one star off for the convenient way they got rid of the case against Voight by going after the FBI guy, using his family against him. I guess all cops have something to hide?
9-1-1: Defend in Place (2021)
So much wrong with this show in the 5th season.
Now, the boyfriend of a minor (at least not a main??) character gets more screen time than the main players? This used to be an exciting action oriented show, now it is a dramatic soap opera.
At least there was no Chimney drama.
The hospital is one fire! Lets pile furniture against a door, that will stop it! Ignore the fire hose and water supply, just get more filing cabinets! Do they even have a real fire fighter as a consultant?
9-1-1: Ghost Stories (2021)
Why is this still called 9-1-1? It is now a soap opera.
This has become a run of the mill soap opera. Hen family drama, boring. Chimney family drama, boring. Athena family drama, boring.
This episode didn't really have any 911 calls in it besides the buried alive guy. No firehouse scenes about the first responders, just Hen family drama. And the cop that solved the case wasn't even Athena (she was too busy with family drama).
Where was the ghosts as promised in the trailer/promo?
I am done with this. Might switch to watching Monday Night Football again. At least that would have some action. Maybe five seasons were one season to many for 9-1-1.
FBI: Most Wanted: Tough Love (2021)
Better writing please. Fire Davalos please.
As others have said, Davalos needs acting lessons. Surely they could have found some one better.
LaCroix says that the bad guy bought a gun with a credit card in West Virginia. The bad guy was only a teenager (17 I think), he would not have been legally allowed to purchase a gun. And if he bought via straw man purchase or illegally it would not have shown up on a credit card statement. Sheesh.
This show has gone down hill FAST.
9-1-1: Desperate Measures (2021)
The Angle Bassett show should be cancelled.
I started watching this show for the 9-1-1 calls to the fire house. Now it seems like it is all Athena, all the time, Peter Krause et al are supporting characters. Can we please go back to the fire house? Thank God that the black-out/kidnapping/rapist story line is done. Or is it? Funny how as soon as Harry was rescued the power came back on. Miracle of miracles! I guess the writers felt lazy and did not need to explain the blackout or how it ended.
I loved the first four seasons, this one not so much. At least Maddie is gone, if only temporary. JLH ruined Criminal Minds and is doing the same here.
