Samurai Sportsman (2004)
Uhhhmmm...
I honestly can't decide whether or not this is a joke. Perhaps it's just me, but this would seem almost insulting to the Japanese/Asian culture. We've got the random Asian guy called "Yoshi" who relates all things back to his teachings to become a samurai. I have issues with his name itself... Yoshi is great if it is, in fact, his real name, but if it isn't... "Yoshi" is the most generic and over-used character name for anyone/anything relating to Japan. If this is a character name I deduct 10 points for lack of creativity.
Besides the general concept of an Eastern swordsman learning American sports, which is unique, the whole show kinda... lacks.
Versus (2000)
excitement until the very end
If you can push aside the over-dramatized blood and gore scenes that are in many Asian films, Versus is a great film for anyone into continuous action. The plot isn't all there at first, but will become evident more towards the climax of the action. The movie also has an impressive music score and some really beautiful filming locations... not to mention that the actors aren't too bad looking!
